Kasich: Gay People 'Probably' Born That Way

John Kasich on Friday was pressed by a man in California to answer whether or not he believed people are born gay.

"Do you believe that some people are born gay?" asked Kelly Bryan, 62, of San Francisco, who attended the Commonwealth Club of California event where Kasich was the featured guest. He later described himself as a Democrat who plans to vote for Hillary Clinton.

"Please respond without prayer being an answer."

Kasich first tried to dodge an answer. "I'm not gonna get into all the analysis of this or that, I'm not gonna do that," he said. As the moderator tried to move the conversation along to the next question, Kasich bounced back. "You know, sir, probably. I mean, I don't, I don't know how it all works, okay? I mean, look. Are they? You know, probability they are. Okay?"

.

After the event, Bryan, who said he was a member of the Commonwealth Club of California and regularly attends their events, told NBC News that he didn't expect a very different answer from Kasich, who he called an "awful candidate."

"I simply wanted it to be answered that gay people are born gay and that it is not a lifestyle or chosen because why would anyone choose to be gay?" he asked, adding, "He had to cop to saying, gay people are, his word, 'probably are born that way' and that was probably the winningiest point and that was my first question."

Earlier this month, during a stirring back-and-forth at an MSNBC town hall with Chris Matthews, Kasich stated that he supports "moving on" from the debate over gay marriage, saying of the current laws on the books, "exactly where it is now, I'm fine with it."

Can I just point out, that nobody really knows what causes homosexuality. There are many theories, and people speculate that there could be a “gay” gene, or that something happens in utero. But nobody knows for sure. It’s propaganda to state flatly that homosexuals are “born that way”. Our cultural leaders have decided that this is how the subject of homosexuality should be perceived, but in actuality, nobody knows why some people are that way.

With the scientific breakthroughs in DNA/genome research, if would be very easy to discover if a person had a "gay gene" and was born that way...

Every "gay person" would have it...they don't even find it..

Gayness is a learned behavior...

Some males are more effeminate than others, but that doesn't mean they are predisposed to be gay...

Kasich is a gutless worm..

People can be born with a propensity toward certain kinds of mental illness. That doesn’t change the nature of it.

Gee, it doesn’t sound like Kelly Bryan really deserved a serious answer.

We havent dropped drunk driving or giving alcohol to minors, and we have not legitimized child molestation.

Why is it okay then to drop laws against homosexuality?

Gay is made, not born.

Children are born a “blank slate” in regards to ATTITUDES about sexuality. The early experiences that touch upon this wellspring of of physiological urgings is what forms life-long attachments.

If a child of one gender gets the notion that children of the other gender are getting a “better deal” emotionally, that is the set of attitudes they will gravitate to. Reinforced about notions of passive or aggressive natures, these attitudes, which may be only fleeting, are either allowed to dissipate, or are hardened into resolve.

Counterpressures everywhere may shift the resolve one way or the other, but at the heart of the matter, which attitude will either appease or actively p*ss off the authority figures in your life? Which course does the child find the most satisfying? At some conscious or unconscious level, the person’s mind is largely made up, and with a clear conscience, so to speak, the person may then continue making the choices that feed that internal picture of self.

But it was always a choice, and not compelled by biology.

Continuing to make poor choices in life, over and over, in the face of all logic or a history of bad outcomes, is evidence of a poorly organized mind, or some would say, insanity.

Are rapists born that way, or simply taught to be rapists by our schools and their parents?

There comes a point when the question is an academic exercise. Revisioning a serious problem doesn’t make that problem go away, just means you don’t have to treat it.

Nature or Nurture? Little from column A a little from column B. For some both.

I have no problem letting them live quietly without public (including the media) displays. That I can’t abide. Nor can I abide prosthelytizing on minors or letting them raise children.

The whole in your face pride thing is disgusting and wrong. If they had self pride they wouldn’t be doing my what they do.

Everyone is born with weakenesses and tendencies to like certain kinds of sinful behavior.

Doesnt mean we make them all legal and call them good and throw parades for our sins and weaknesses, or encoursge others to sin the same sins so so we wont feel so isolated or alone.

Being born that way was invented by the lawyers fighting for gay rights. Up until it had been ‘deemed’ genetic they kept losing cases because being was seen as a choice.

Then the lawyers (AClU?) decided to make it genetic so that they could claim minority rights.

Many gays admit to being molested as children.
