Kasich: Gay People 'Probably' Born That Way
nbcnews.com ^ | 04/30/2016 | KAILANI KOENIG

John Kasich on Friday was pressed by a man in California to answer whether or not he believed people are born gay.

"Do you believe that some people are born gay?" asked Kelly Bryan, 62, of San Francisco, who attended the Commonwealth Club of California event where Kasich was the featured guest. He later described himself as a Democrat who plans to vote for Hillary Clinton.

"Please respond without prayer being an answer."

Kasich first tried to dodge an answer. "I'm not gonna get into all the analysis of this or that, I'm not gonna do that," he said. As the moderator tried to move the conversation along to the next question, Kasich bounced back. "You know, sir, probably. I mean, I don't, I don't know how it all works, okay? I mean, look. Are they? You know, probability they are. Okay?"

.

After the event, Bryan, who said he was a member of the Commonwealth Club of California and regularly attends their events, told NBC News that he didn't expect a very different answer from Kasich, who he called an "awful candidate."

"I simply wanted it to be answered that gay people are born gay and that it is not a lifestyle or chosen because why would anyone choose to be gay?" he asked, adding, "He had to cop to saying, gay people are, his word, 'probably are born that way' and that was probably the winningiest point and that was my first question."

Earlier this month, during a stirring back-and-forth at an MSNBC town hall with Chris Matthews, Kasich stated that he supports "moving on" from the debate over gay marriage, saying of the current laws on the books, "exactly where it is now, I'm fine with it."

In fairness to Kasich he’s correct to say “I don’t know”. None of us do. Scripture would simply point to it as sin, giving no explanation as to why or how a particular sin develops. “There is no one who is righteous...not even one.”

Freud (I believe) posited the Overbearing Mother/Weak Father theory. There is some merit there, but along will come someone to contradict it with their perfectly balanced family history that yet left them homosexually inclined. It’s not scientific. People are mysteries.

Scripture, at least, is clear that God did not design men to lie with men or women with women. Homosexuality is a product of the Fall. As with ALL sin the solution is complete and total forgiveness through Jesus Christ, by grace through faith. A FREE gift of righteousness.

“But men preferred darkness to light because their deeds were evil”—Jesus

Nobody knows, including gays.

But the real issue is special rights.

Doesn’t matter if they are or aren’t.
Society has long learned to give “breeders” special treatment for good reason. If, by literally just two bits of information, society can conclude there is absolutely zero chance of a “couple” to reproduce, then there is no reason for society to incentive and compel that couple to remain together as a unit.
Doesn’t matter if “they’re born that way” or not. Make whatever civil contractual arrangements they like; don’t compel the rest of society to treat them as though mere affection or orgasm needs the same social treatment as those for whom copulation is designed to create more taxpayers.

Exactly right.

And we have constructed a society in which being a sinner is an advantage. Homosexuals are a protected species and have special rights. We are so far away from being a moral society which is concerned with limiting sinful behavior that I think there is no hope for us. We need a very deep cleansing.

Better question: “Governor, have you had any gay experiences, and were they with a fellow congressman?”

I don't know or really care if they are born that way or not. It's not relevant. A lot of ppl are born with predispositions to various vices. Some ppl have a genetic inclination to alcoholism. That doesn't mean the rest of us should be forced to serve them booze. If they are in fact born that way it just means they have a cross to bear that is different from the ones that most of the rest of us have. The temptation to a given vice is not in itself a sin. It's acting on that temptation that is where you get into trouble.

Well, I'm a little bit of a quandary about this ...

There were five of us boys in our family. Four of us are strictly heterosexual and acted like boys and young men at all of the appropriate times in our lives: baseball, football, playing soldier/cowboys, running like wild Indians through the neighborhood woods, catching frogs/crayfish/tadpoles, fishing, hunting, etc.

The five of us were all raised by the same parents, lived in the same places, all had similar experiences while growing up ... or at least were exposed to similar life occurrences during that time. My parents didn't divorce until the last of the five sons had left home.

Yet, the second son, my younger brother, never was like the rest of us, although he was similar in appearance to two of my younger brothers. He was not rebellious in the least, thin and delicate both in build and constitution, who was .. in my mind .. the epitome of the "Chorus Line" homosexual. Very artsy, drama club and the like. Oh, he did some things with us, some fishing and played Little League baseball, mainly because it was expected of him. He would sit with his legs crossed at the knees, unlike the rest of us. To that end, he was always very effeminate. So it was really not surprising to me that he is now living with his "partner" of 25 years in Boston, Massachusetts.

So I don't know what happened in this instance. I know that he wasn't sexually molested when we were young; he and I shared the same bedroom from the earliest time that I can remember until I left for college. So his "choice" seemed to have been made at a very early age and unlike that of the other four of us. So the only thing that I can guess is that some extreme variation or mutation occurred in his genetic code. In the end, he is and always was, quite literally, the odd-man out of us five brothers.

A child is NOT born gay, they are MADE gay by being molested as children..talk to any gay man or lesbian woman, they all had some kind of sexual abuse perpetrated on them as children

So if a gene is found to be the cause of homosexuality, I’d love to see the reaction from the progressives when women seek out abortions of their homosexual fetuses. Which side will they pick? I think we’d need a double batch of popcorn.

Maybe. But if true, the liberal flip on the abortion issue will give them whiplash.

We KNOW for a fact that there is NO GAY GENE. We know that because the entire human genome has been mapped and it is a fact that no gene that regulated human sexual preference was ever found. In particular it is KNOWN that sexuality can be controlled. If it could not be controlled the instances of rape would be legion and never ending.

It is almost certain that homosexuality is a combination of nature and nurture with nurture and early abusive sexual experience being the major contributor.

By definition active homosexuals are mentally defective. They have a mental illness that causes them to have a disordered sexual preference. It is still only a preference.

Men, in particular, are capable of being sexually aroused by almost anything and often are. It is simply that the homosexuals first sexual experiences are often at the hands of a sexual abuser who has molested them at an early age or ‘guided’ them at adolescence. Just because the desire is subconscious doesn't mean it is genetic.

These people are mentally ill. It is simply a fact that as a society we have decided that it is a mental illness we are willing to live with. For now.

The answer is not forgiveness. The answer is righteousness. And what in the world is wrong with everybody? Is everyone blind? Look at your own bodies, for crying out loud. Don’t you see that there are complementary elements of the opposite sex in your own bodies and persons?! Men have a physical and spiritual female side and vice versa. When we make love to the opposite sex we find completion and balance in one another. But if we did not have some of the other within our own selves we would not be able to truly experience the fullness of the oneness that our union brings. It is impossible for two men or two women to know the Gloroius, Holy Gestalt that comes with true, deep, committed Lovemaking between a man and a woman. Never has been possible; never will be.
