Donald Trump And The Knockout Punch
CBN News ^ | April 27, 2016 | David Brody

Posted on 04/27/2016 12:50:39 PM PDT by monkapotamus

Donald Trump’s extraordinary Tuesday evening in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware got me thinking: if this GOP presidential process were a prizefight, the referee would have stopped it last night. The announcer would have exclaimed, “ Donald Trump, winner by knockout.”

The impressiveness of Donald Trump’s clean sweep of the “Acela Primary States” on Tuesday isn’t in the victories themselves. Everyone knew that Trump would do well on Tuesday in the more moderate northeast. It’s the margin that’s notable. This was a shellacking. The knock on Trump was that he had a ceiling or that when other candidates dropped out, his numbers would stay static and the other contenders would flourish. It hasn’t panned out, at least not enough to significantly change the contours of the race...

Here’s the point: Trump has a compelling case to make to the unbound delegates in Cleveland if he arrives short of the 1,237. He’s on his way to having more republican votes than any other candidate in modern GOP Primary history; he has more delegates than any candidate; he’s shown a propensity to win all around the country and he can point to how he clearly has crossover appeal to democrats and independents...

I don’t want to see Trump win ONLY the nomination. I want him to ALSO run for, and win, Cruz’s Senate seat.

It was a combo;
Donald J. Trump Foreign Policy Speech
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3425205/posts

If Cruz does anything this afternoon other than just quit, he will be down to zero percent, and his name will be Mudd.

That Foreign Policy speech should have quieted all the doubters, all the media, all the establishment pukes, and all the cocktail circuit. This is the next president.

Did not hear Trump’s speech, but I just read it. Talk about “ready - aim - fire.” Dead hits on: Obama, Hilary, ISIS. VERY GOOD speech, at least in print.

1. It was arrogant as Hell to pick a Veep candidate when he’s losing, and falling further behind every week. What color is the sky on his planet?

2. Fiorina is for mostly open borders and is a dream for the Cheap Labor Express. How does that square with Cruz’ supposed hardline stand on immigration? You know, the stand that miraculously popped up after Trump started telling everyone that he was going to build a wall and it made him MORE popular.

I used to respect Cruz, I voted for him with pride in 2012 and even gave him money last March when he declared for President. But not now - the guy has let his thirst for power to get the better of him. He’s smart as a whip, I’m very surprised and very disappointed that he allowed himself to get to this point...which suggests rather pointedly that the Bible was right when it said to “put not your trust in men, but only in G-d.”

Two of my best friends went for Kasich in the primary. They just listened to Trump’s speech today and emailed me that they are back on board the Trump train.

“...in print...”

I was able to watch the whole thing and Trump’s delivery of the speech was excellent, just fabulous.

Look at these numbers:

NY CT DE MD PA RI
Rank 1 1 1 1 1 1
% 60% 59% 63% 57% 58% 65%
Votes 524,932 123,367 42,472 236,623 892,702 39,059

It was a blow out in the northeast the past two weeks! All Gold! Trump is going to be putting these states in play in the general election. Hillary and the Democrats won't have a chance there!

Will they? Step back and look at the bigger picture. Trump loving northeastern Republicans weren't the only ones voting. Hillary and Bernie voters, dispirited as we're told they are compared to the YUGELY motivated Trump voters, also went to the same polls at the same time. Lets compare:

NY CT DE MD PA RI
Rank 3 3 2 3 2 3
% 20% 23% 26% 19% 28% 22%
Trump 524,932 123,367 42,472 236,623 892,702 39,059
Clinton 1,054,083 170,075 55,950 533,247 918,689 66,720
Sanders 763,469 152,409 36,659 281,275 719,955 52,493
GOP% 32% 39% 42% 34% 48% 34%

The top table is just trompe l'oeil (or "Trump l'oeil"?), French for "deceive the eye. Trump's golds turn into a couple silvers and a pile of bronze. His faux impressive percentages don't reach 30% anywhere and don't even reach 25% in most of the NE. His vote numbers weren't impressive, they were big losers to either Hillary or Bernie And the GOP doesn't have a chance in any of these other than its always teasing heartbreak state of PA. The Donald will NOT be stealing any electoral votes from Hillary's solid northeast. Meanwhile across a large swatch of normally reliably GOP states the army of anti-Trumpers may lose him normally reliable GOP states. Rather than making Trump look good, these numbers prove the media theme than Hillary will schlong Trump in the general. That's not to say the numbers are encouraging to alternative GOP candidates, but at least they wouldn't have to defend traditional GOP territory nor would they be counting on any electoral votes from the past two week's primary territory. Their task would be difficult, but not impossible like Trump's.

So, if Trump can’t get any of the northeast states or the west coast then how can any Republican hope to do so, especially Cruz? Why not just give up and have the next Civil War. I’m ready. It’ll start in November.

Here’s a thought. Do you think that a large number of those hundreds of thousands of Sanders voters might think that Trump is a better bet than Crooked Hillary? You know, the person most responsible for screwing Sanders out of his rightful nomination.

Cruz responds by denying reality and picking a VP running mate.

Where are the Cruz supporters supporting this?

a LOT of them find their way to my Facebook wall, it seems. I am still trying to be patient.. but they seem to also live in an alternate universe that Cruz will prevail via some miracle as he is the "only true conservative" doncha know.. and NO Christian would/should ever vote for DJT.

Getting old.

Too true -- police had to hold the crazed Beatles fans back. I see that pegged pants for men are back again, too -- parallel trends? He will win, then! LOL!
