Trump’s sweep is another humiliating defeat for media and political elites
Washington Post ^ | April 26, 2016 | Joe Scarborough

Posted on 04/27/2016 5:29:27 AM PDT by detective

Donald Trump’s sweeping victories Tuesday night move the Manhattan billionaire a step closer to winning the Republican nomination for president and to pulling off the most improbable political feat in modern American history. But Trump’s story is about more than a first-time candidate’s stunning rise. It is also about the humiliating defeat suffered by an increasingly isolated political and media class who still do not understand the causes and scope of Trump’s populist revolt.

In his book “Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010,” Charles Murray wrote about the rise of a new American upper class and the “narrow elites” who shape America’s economy, culture and government. The number of players who dominate the direction of media, politics and finance is surprisingly concentrated for a country as sprawling and diverse as the United States. And yet almost all of these “influencers” across Manhattan and Washington were incapable of blunting Trump’s meteoric rise. Time and again over the past year, Washington insiders and media moguls misread the mood of working-class voters and their attraction to the populist message championed by Trump.

Yes, Mrs. Sooner spotted that a few weeks ago too.

You walk into the room
With your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked
And you say, “Who is that man?”
You try so hard
But you don’t understand
Just what you’ll say
When you get home

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You raise up your head
And you ask, “Is this where it is?”
And somebody points to you and says
“It’s his”
And you say, “What’s mine?”
And somebody else says, “Where what is?”
And you say, “Oh my God
Am I here all alone?”

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You hand in your ticket
And you go watch the geek
Who immediately walks up to you
When he hears you speak
And says, “How does it feel
To be such a freak?”
And you say, “Impossible”
As he hands you a bone

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You have many contacts
Among the lumberjacks
To get you facts
When someone attacks your imagination
But nobody has any respect
Anyway they already expect you
To just give a check
To tax-deductible charity organizations

You’ve been with the professors
And they’ve all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have
Discussed lepers and crooks
You’ve been through all of
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s books
You’re very well read
It’s well known

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you
And then he kneels
He crosses himself
And then he clicks his high heels
And without further notice
He asks you how it feels
And he says, “Here is your throat back
Thanks for the loan”

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word “NOW”
And you say, “For what reason?”
And he says, “How?”
And you say, “What does this mean?”
And he screams back, “You’re a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home”

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, you walk into the room
Like a camel and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket
And your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law
Against you comin’ around
You should be made
To wear earphones

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You see the list of banned posters...the body count getting higher. I suspect maybe another half dozen today. They just can’t help themselves. The ABT movement needed to be banned from here. We see evil and it’s not Trump, its Hillary.

I strongly recommend “Coming Apart.” Take Murray’s 25 point quiz to see how much of a “bubble” you are in.

I give this quiz to my university students. While some of the questions are now dated, and some wouldn’t necessarily apply to college-age kids, it’s amazing how many are 100% “bubble-ized.”

With TRUMP, the people are SPEAKING out!

With TRUMP, the people of South Carolina EMBARRASSED their own stooge Lindsey Graham to F OFF in his OWN STATE.

With TRUMP, the people have told the BUSHES, ROMNEYS, McCAINS to F OFF.

With TRUMP, the people of this country will finally tell OBAMA, RATS, and HILLARY to F OFF!

It’s that old power bug. Once it bites, very, very few can resist the venom.

George Washington did. John Adams did. There are a handful of others.

I finished a book for Regnery called “The Politically Incorrect Guide to the American Presidents from Washington to Taft.”

It’s rather astounding how many of the first 10 or so couldn’t WAIT to get out of the presidency, how they all celebrated when they left office.

In full denial mode, the Left claims that the MEDIA is actually responsible for Trump's rise. You see, outside NYC and LA, the people are fed a steady diet of Trump to the exclusion of everyone else.

I believe this is the thesis of Amy Goodman--who my soft headed, lefty pals on FB are often citing. You see, we can't think without the media's help.

Those commentators remind me of a great commercial that aired several years ago.... There's this guy selling financial products sitting in his office meeting with various clients. The customers are like a middle aged black couple, a single young professional woman, an obviously successful old white guy, and a young couple with babe-in-arms.

In EVERY MEETING he solemnly says something like "after rigorously studying YOUR situation, I recommend our 'XYZ' product."

IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME PRODUCT!

Maybe 2DV can post here...”You wait and see when Cruz wins the nomination”.

Maybe. Does Cruz still have a budget for that sort of thing?

They have been lying to us after they let Chicago elect JFK!

And before then, they propped up the belief that Roosevelt was not a cripple.

I'm sure history is replete with more examples. Snake oil is their business.

I share your concern for Trump's security. But I do think he's in good hands. Check out this recent motorcade that delivered Trump to a recent rally. You don't even see this for the president. I think what happened here was every motorcycle cop within 20 miles volunteered for the assignment and were proud to participate.

He needs to have great protection, body guards.

I worry about that too. Especially since he stands fearlessly in front of such large crowds.

This article that heralds the humiliating defeat for media and political elites that Trump represents, somehow manages not to mention that the Washington Post was one of the most humiliated media establishments and home to a number of those political elites.

Bwa ha ha ha ha...

LOL! So true!

Trump swept every county in all 5 states. Greenwich, CT to Allentown, PA. All Trump. Game. Set. Match. Trump is the nom.

Donald didn’t just win, he swept every county in 5 states.

His margin of winning was so large, CNN was able to predict his massive wins within a short time after the polls closed.
