Driven up the wall by Trump, Mexico looks to recast image in U.S.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - At first, Mexico's government did its best to ignore Donald Trump. Then it likened him to Adolf Hitler. Now it has appointed a new ambassador to come up with a better plan.

Fed up with the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination labeling Mexico as a cradle of drug-runners, job poachers and rapists, the government is sending in respected diplomat Carlos Sada to lead a fightback.

Mexico's new ambassador in Washington, Sada acknowledges his country has neglected its image across the border and aims to fix that with PR and media campaigns, and by lobbying prominent U.S. companies, lawmakers and civic leaders.

"We need to do a more thorough job so that people understand what (Mexico) contributes," he said after he was sworn in at Mexico's Senate on Thursday.

Sada's strategy includes underscoring Mexico's importance to the U.S. economy, although it centers on defending the rights of Mexican citizens in the United States and promoting Mexican culture.

That focus has fed doubts over whether the government is trying hard enough to win over its most important audience: American voters.

"It's vital to improve Mexico's image and protect our people, but that's not enough to change the hateful trend that Trump and other xenophobes before him have stirred up," said Gabriela Cuevas, an opposition lawmaker who chairs the Senate's foreign relations committee.

"They don't understand the extent of the damage Trump has done," she said, urging the government to be more aggressive in mobilizing powerful U.S. interests against Trump's attacks.

> Enrique Pena Nieto got an early start on his political career. He was a community organizer while still in his early 20’s and has maintained a presence in politics ever since. In 1999, he worked on the campaign team of Arturo Montiel Rojas, who was elected Governor of Mexico State. Montiel rewarded him with the position of Administrative Secretary. Pena Nieto was elected to replace Montiel in 2005 as Governor of Mexico State, serving from 2005-2011. In 2011 he won the PRI Presidential nomination and immediately became the front runner for the 2012 elections.

And you better believe this is going to cost US taxpayers mucho pesos.

Fact is, Americans understand all too well what Mexico is "contributing"....... and all of their so-called contributions are undermining US so vereignty, US ntl security....AND the safety and security of every American.

There are something north of 40 million Mexicans living in the U.S.

That number in 1960 was 2 million. I lived on the border, and we hardly ever saw them.

That few.

Spanish was unheard. Corruption of the police was considered shocking. Mexicans in the legislatures of America was even more shocking - they would make laws for us?!

And the idea of Affirmative Action for Spaniard males in a country founded by Protestants who remembered what the phrase “Spanish cruelty” meant was considered hilarious.

Uh, we fought 2 wars with them after the Revolution: 1846 and 1898.

They lost.

Now they claim to be “us”. They claim they are the Americans, when the reality is that their very presence undermines America.

There are not millions of white Anglo-Saxon Protestants living in the cities of Mexico, and there sure as hell aren’t any WASPs running their government.

Yet we are supposed to accept them doing that to us. Because “this is really Mexico, you took it from us” and “there really isn’t an American nation, it’s just a bunch of eeemeegrants, so you don’t have a nation”.

That is what this b***h is pushing. The concept that there is no America, no American nation, and she and her nationals have a right to occupy and rule us, since “you were never here anyway”.

Bunk. They are The Invader, and they are trying to reverse the victories of 1848 and 1899. Spaniards never quit: it’s considered too shameful in their society.

We shouldn’t worry about that, and immediately set about re-asserting our control of our country by kicking out their nationals and making it clear that we will NOT submit to them.

MEXICO IS SLOBBERING AT THE US PUBLIC TROUGH So-Called "impoverished" Mexicans here send BILLIONS of US tax dollars collected under multiple identities BACK to Mexico. The federales are getting a huge cut of that.

This could be prosecuted as wire-fraud, govt fraud, ID theft, money laundering and tax evasion..

Prolly Mexico also gets a fee for letting other countries use their border as a gathering place to slither into the US.

Yet unresolved is:

<><> when Mexico should be hauled before the Hague Criminal Court for failing its sworn duty to its citizens on US soil;

<><> the scope and dimension of intl crimes committed by Mexico for dumping it citizens into the US to drain our welfare resources,

<><> when US courts prosecute Mexico for aiding and abetting criminal activities on US soil, and,

<><> the amt of reparations Mexico should pay Americans for forcing us to subsidize its citizens.

Trump accurately tells Americans oil-rich Mexico is ripping us off royally......and is pocketing billions from deal after deal. This is in addition to millions in US foreign aid to help them w/ then the drug cartel problem.

Obama has kept hidden from Americans:
<><> (1) taxpayers costs to build family detention centers at the border;

<><>(2) costs to taxpayers of apprehending, processing and detaining unaccompanied minors;

<><> (3) the costs to taxpayers transporting, transferring, removing and repatriating unaccompanied minors;

<><> (4) the costs to taxpayers WRT ICEs removal procedures involving unaccompanied minors; and,

<><> (5) the number of times the return of unaccompanied minors were ignored and/or prevented by the govts of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

NOTE: A FOIA letter on behalf of US taxpayers makes these requests to ICE.

The federales are scared stiff that President Trump is gonna curtail their US-taxpayer financed lavish lifestyles and fat offshore holdings.

Ever hear of the MERIDA INITIATIVE?

I didn/t think so.

WIKI-—With the Merida Initiative set to expire on September 30, 2010, the U.S. State Department (under SoS Hillary) has proposed a major renewal and expansion of the program. If approved, starting in 2011, $310 million would be granted to Mexico, another $100 million for the Central American Regional Security Initiative (CARSI), and $79 million for the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI).[28]

The U.S. Congress has now authorized $1.6 billion for the three-year initiative (2007–2010). The U.S. Congress approved $465 million in the first year, which includes $400 million for Mexico and $65 million for Central America, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. For the second year, Congress approved $300 million for Mexico and $110 million for Central America, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. A FY09 supplemental appropriation is providing an additional $420 million for Mexico; and $450 million for Mexico and $100 million for Central America has been requested for FY10.[20]

Only about $204 million of that, however, will be earmarked for the Mexican military for the purchase of eight used transport helicopters and two small surveillance aircraft. No weapons are included in the plan.[21][22][23] The bill requires that $73.5 million of the $400 million for Mexico must be used for judicial reform, institution-building, human rights and rule-of-law issues.

The bill specifies that 15% of the funds will be dependent on Mexico making headway in four areas relating to human-rights issues, and on which the U.S. Secretary of State will have to report periodically to Congress.[24][25]

An additional $65 million was granted for the Central American countries (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama); the House also included Haiti and the Dominican Republic in this bill for Central America, which is a comprehensive public security package that seeks to tackle citizen insecurity in Central America by more effectively addressing criminal gangs, improving information sharing between countries, modernizing and professionalizing the police forces, expanding maritime interdiction capabilities, and reforming the judicial sector in order to restore and strengthen citizens confidence in those institutions.[26]

Much of the funding will never leave the United States. It will go toward the purchase of aircraft, surveillance software, and other goods and services produced by U.S. private defense contractors.

While this request includes equipment and training, it does not involve any cash transfers or money to be provided directly to the Government of Mexico or its private contractors.

According to U.S. State Department officials, 59% of the proposed assistance will go to civil agencies responsible for law enforcement, and 41% to operational costs for the Mexican Army and Mexican Navy. While the initial cost for equipment and hardware that the military required is high, it is expected that future budget requests will focus increasingly on training and assistance to civil agencies.

As of November 2009, the U.S. has delivered about $214 million of the pledged $1.6 billion.[27]

"We need to do a more thorough job so that people understand what (Mexico) contributes," he said after he was sworn in at Mexico's Senate on Thursday.

This is how you appeal to the Mexican public when you want to sell consumer products:

This is an actual ad launched exclusively in Mexico by Absolut Vodka back in April 2008.

Screw Mexico.

Mexico holds seminars to tell future illegals how to apply for welfare, get SS card, drivers licenses and food stamps in the USA. In other words, Mexico educates illegal activity in another country.

This ain’t friendly folks, is it?

You know Mexico wouldn’t let an American buy ocean front property. Then they claim they love us. We don’t restrict foreigners from owning property in America. Maybe we should, or maybe we just slap a tax so we can pay down the debt.

“And not treating your majority indigenous population like s—t would help as well.”

And own up to the fact that you are not “The Race!” You're the result of a pack of horny white Spaniards having their way with a bunch of indigenous people! You are about as indiscriminate as the neighborhood stray dogs, so enough with this La Raza stuff, you're just a pack of mongrels! Give us a break!

Hey Carlos Sada you can start by being embarrassed by the current state of your country. The simple fact that your people want to/need to leave to find a better way of life speaks volumes of the $hit hole you all have created.

#1) Be embarrassed about the current state of Mexico.
#2) Fix it!!!

Only once you have accepted that Mexico IS the problem can you even start to begin to fix it — I would be more than happy to fix it for you.

Let me get this straight - Sada is going to prove Mexican elites aren't a bunch of crooks by going to Washington and 'lobbying' (giving payoffs and cash) to lawmakers and civic leaders....

OK, this is a joke, right?

All the corrupt ones in Congress already back criminals flooding across the border.. AND the rest of us? We don't want their friggin' money we want them to keep their criminals home - AND improve the country so their citizens don't want to escape.

Look Mexico, you have good people and you have good natural resources. But your government is a kleptocracy run on the local level by drug lords solve your problems and maybe you won’t have to dump your citizens over the border.

It is clear that we should have killed their leaders and annexed the whole of Mexico in the 1840’s.

They may be "good people", but Mexico us supposedly a democracy. That means that at least in theory, they are responsible for the kleptocrats being in power.

They say they're coming here to escape from the government corruption, but then when they get here and start voting they send people like Luis Gutierrez to Congress.
