Donald Trump might have rolled to 60 percent of the Republican vote in New York Tuesday night, but he came in a distant third in the big scheme of things nonetheless. Keep in mind, this is the candidate and the campaign that constantly pout about one-man one-vote and popular vote totals.
They threaten to both call the lawyers about this concept and to riot in Cleveland over this. Thus, by Trump's own standards, Trump got thrashed in New York. Both Hillary and Bernie Sanders destroyed Trump in raw vote totals.
I'm not saying Trump didn't win the N.Y. Republican primary big. He did. I'm not even arguing that Trump is cheating to get 90% of the delegates with only 60% of the vote although I could do just that, again using Trump's standards and Trump's own words and Team Trump's talking points. It would be easy. All I'm pointing out is that even in a yuuuuuuuge win, the numbers put the lie to the Donald Trump campaign. This was his best night so far, and yet the seeds of disaster are obvious for any who would but pay attention.
That popular vote total should bring the pom-pom clan back to Earth.
Remember that Trump is supposedly the man who will by his mere presence put blue states, even New York, into play. The message board trolls drone endlessly about this. As do some websites and talk show hosts not to mention the Trump surrogates. Again, by their own self-imposed standard, Trump really got humiliated Tuesday night.
Consider: Hillary Clinton tallied over a million votes. Over three quarters of a million New York voters "felt the Bern." Trump was just over half a million. You say, "Okay okay, but it's New York."

Obama v. Mittens in NY, not a good test.
Please see post #89.
What I read is warm horse-droppings. I’m not going there.
I’m not trying to start a war here, but where does the 95 percent figure come from? Must be based on voluntary replies to a survey of some kind, since there is no way to actually track who voted for whom. Does the figure include those who didn’t vote at all? Does it include those who voted only down ticket but not for president? I’m just curious.
Didn't think that you were FRiend.
but where does the 95 percent figure come from?
Dem crossovers.
First, I’m always suspicious of exit poll data. Only those who are approached and want to give the information are counted. Plus it doesn’t include no-shows or those who left the presidential race blank. But I don’t doubt that Mittens had negligible support from NY Democrats. That state was not in play for him.
It’s amazing what kind of unusual predilections people can get turned on by. Especially leftists.
It’s a lot longer than 30 days to change your registration to vote in a NY primary election.
New York’s deadline for switching party registration was Oct. 9, 193 days before the primary.
“...Trump will get most of the independents and a ton of democrats who voted for Bernie...”
100% correct. Even my husband’s Buffalo relatives (blue collar union types) will cross over for Trump and they are joined by many. Anecdotal perhaps, but not to be dismissed.
I thought the title of this was satire it was so delusional.
... the notion that Trump is going to win New York ... is and always was fantasy. On Tuesday night, Trump's best night ever, this was made clear.
I am sure that any such fantasy will never be posted here after Tuesday night's results.
Stupid article.
But that’s all the Cruz folks have now.
Math is stupid? 1.75 million > 0.5 million.
But thats all the Cruz folks have now.
There is nothing about Cruz in the article.
Exactly. I think Trump can carry NY State for the GOP.
Mental illness will make you blind. Truth: Trump got the vote 20% of all registered Republicans in New York State and Clinton got 19.9% of the vote all registered Democrats in New York State. About 27% of New Yorkers are registered as NO PARTY the designation in New York for Independents. Independents reject Clinton almost as much as Republicans. Trump has not been able to campaign against Clinton as he will.Does this fool think Trump will be held back from attacking her by the media the way Mittens was held back from attacking Obama? Really?
There are 5.2 million Democrats in NYS and 2.1 million Republicans both sides turned out 34% of their registered voters. Saying Trump is not going to crush her in November because he didn’t get more Republicans who are less than half the number of Democrats is asinine.
Trump takes NYS and in doing so FORCES her to campaign here which no Democrat has had to do since 1988.
“In other words, on Trumps best night ever in New York, he would have been totally trounced by either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. The notion that Trump can win blue states like New York is just laughable. Tuesday is irrevocable proof.”
Do you get paid for each anti Trump post you post?
Or is your income tied to illegals working in the IT world you supposedly consult with?
What part of Jim’s post noting that Cruz was out of the race did you fail to understand?
Do you spit on other hosts, who invite you into their homes or businesses like you do to Jim several times each day?
Another one for your actions!
RE: Do you get paid for each anti Trump post you post?
Let’s see your reasoning here — every person who posts something unfavorable to Trump is somehow a paid shill. Should I then ask you if you get paid for attacking people who post unfavorable things about Trump?
RE: Or is your income tied to illegals working in the IT world you supposedly consult with?
I COMPETE with H-1B software developers all the time. This has been true since the 1990’s and I have to keep up with technology to keep myself current. And oh yeah, if your reasoning is that Trump will protect my job from these foreigners who compete with me at lower wages, know this -— Cruz has a plan for it too.
See here:
RE: What part of Jims post noting that Cruz was out of the race did you fail to understand?
Not sure what you mean by “out of the race”. Cruz is out of the race when Trump reaches 1,237 delegates.
RE: Do you spit on other hosts, who invite you into their homes or businesses like you do to Jim several times each day?
Did Jim make a rule that says one cannot post articles that analyze races or are critical to Donald Trump? If so, kindly direct me to that rule.
Take Bernie out (thanks crooked Hillary)
Let democrats vote for whoever they want (obviously a lot don’t want Hillary) but none could vote for Trump in the closed primary
now let the 28% of new Yorkers who are independent or “other party” VOTE (which they could not do for the primary)
then lets see the numbers
NY= 6 million registered democrats, 3 million registered GOP
