My Open Letter to Ted Cruz after the NY Primary
Vanity | April 20, 2016 | Jeff Head

An Open Letter to Ted Cruz

Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016

I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.

I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.

You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.

I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.

Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.

I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.

However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.

I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.

As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.

I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.

I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.

I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.

If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.

Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.

Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.

As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.

I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.

You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.

Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.

I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.

And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.

Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,

Jeff Head

My letter is urging Cruz to unite the party.

You are urging the wrong candidate. Cruz is already reaching out to the various factions, engaging at the local level, and trying to sell the GOPe on the fact that change is necessary for the future of the Party. Compare that to Trump who continues to scorch the earth with his populist narcissism.

Cruz is working to change the Party for the better. Trump works to destroy it.

Look, I am and have been an avid Cruz supporter. I believe he would be a better president.

But the facts on the ground speak for themselves. Trump is likely to either reach 1,237 before the convention or be VERY close. At this point, Cruz cannot.

Also, the facts are most likely that an ugly convention fight will by pyrrhic, no matter who pulls out the nomination. It will split the HUGE turn out we are getting now, and people will throw down their toys and walk away. We simply CANNOT afford that.

My principle focus is November and avoiding anything that will hand the DNC a victory and a devastating 3rd Obama term.

Trump's position statements on Immigration, Taxes, Jobs, International relations, Health Care, and even abortion, would all be tremendously helpful in turning the nation around...if they are carried out.

He will need support and unity within the GOP to do that.

Cruz is the single person who can provide that unity and I sent my letter in the hope and prayer that he will realize this and help us win in 2016.

If he does, he will likely become President after Trump and we could get 16 years of leadership away from the abyss.

Anyhow, that's my reasoning.

Cruz had a lot of us fooled...including me. He lost me when he would not say straight out that he was going to secure the border or deport illegals after he had said it before. When he sided with thugs that disrupted a Trump rally and blamed Trump for the actions of thugs he totally lost me.

Cruz is just not the person many of us thought he was, he is not.

The change Cruz will get if he gets his way will be destroying the party and giving us another President Clinton, that will be far worse than her husband I am sure.

That was then. This is now:

The malleable "rules" are designed to to preserve, protect and defend the establishment ruling class. Nothing more.

Cruz knows this. He has betrayed the grassroots.

Over the last few days, I've repeatedly challenged 2DV, other Cruz fanboys, or any Ted Cruz supporter anywhere to state any plausible scenario whereby Ted Cruz limps into the GOP convention with, at best, 700 delegates or so, and magically seizes the nomination from Donald Trump without irreparably splintering the party, destroying voter enthusiasm, inducing countless Trump voters to stay home, and guaranteeing a Hillary victory in November.

What response have I gotten?

Crickets.

These Ted Cruz fanboys know the truth, as does their preferred candidate, Ted Cruz, and yet they still insist on their suicidal quest to both wreck their own party and even risk their country, all for one man's blind personal ambition. Absolutely shameful.

It would be laughable if it weren't so dangerous.

At this point, Ted Cruz's egotism and narcissism make Donald Trump's ostensible character deficits pale in comparison. They long ago ceded the moral high ground.

Vote Trump

Trump has “handlers” now....His head Guru tells the GOP he’s been “projecting an image” (lying to the voters) in con games, they call this “the switch.”....so Manafort has admitted Trumps been ‘gaming the electorate’... It is all an act !

....Manafort therefore is telling Trump followers that all of a sudden what got them so excited was all just an act to get the nomination and now he’s going to reveal the “real” Trump? So which one is the authentic????....unbelievable!!!!

...He’s an admitted liar who has been deceiving his voters by manipulating their emotions with an “imaged” braggadocio......Trumps supporters will not know who they’re really voting for until it’s over...Interesting that Manafort has just hired numbers of lobbyists into the campaign leadership..... Trump is dumping the grassroots activists he hired duped in favor Washington lobbyists.....this gives all a clue what he will do in WAshington....these lobbyists are liberals.

...”That was then.”....

No Cruz’s position on his citizenship has not changed....which is what is being addressed....therefore “He’s a Reaganite and a natural born American citizen in every sense of the word”...continues to apply regarding that statement..

Of course Jim hasn't said that he'll zot Cruz supporters.will zot those who piss in the sandbox and state that they will never vote for Trump in any case whatsoever.

Basically, "NeverTrump" clowns are not welcome on this forum, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Why? Because such an attitude is tantamount to a vote for Hillary.

Cruz is exactly the man people thought he would be...he has not changed...the political “climate” has however.....and with that all the political and strategic moves and such we see playing out to win this election.

If you keep your eyes on only players rather than the game moves ‘AS’ they are played,( and not as the media would have you see so you’ll tune into their shows),you’ll lose sight of who has ‘the ball’....

If you pay attention you can easily tell that Cruz is simply doing what he does so well...and he knows how the other side will play....he’s countering those moves in remarkable ways and this against the tide of the Clinton/Trump efforts to stop him.

Trump has up to this point successfully consolidated a 3rd Party inside the Republican Party, one which unite Hollywood Demorats and Clinton Demorats which will be far more advantageous to the corporate enties and lobbyists than any time in history, and this to facilitate control for the International Monetary Conglomerates ....... His next step, which he will attempt in July, is to hijack the existing infrastructure and ballot access of the Republican party and house this third party inside it.....and why he’s just hired all these lobbyists to head his campaign...”in the corporate world this is called a “hostile take-over”....

How many times do the courts have to declare to you that Cruz is a citizen of this country before you’ll let it go???? The politically charged climate of this election is the ONLY reason people keep spreading this nonsense. It works to take up time and divert people off course....mostly forcing the ‘expendature of revenue sources’, which is in play in an election, which is at the heart of the Demorats and Trump campaign to keep this alive...

If you paid attention to Manaforts address to reporters he’s made it clear that in some states they know they won’t win BUT they can force their opposition to spend time and money.

Wake up...

As to delegate predictions...here is my own through June 7th I have been working on:

Indiana is a huge key. If Cruz can win there, it will make a huge difference.

In the same vein, CA is a major key. If Trump does better there, it would easily make up for a loss in IN.

But if Cruz does well in IN and in CA, then he will probably deny Trump the 1,237.

The question will be by how much?

I personally feel that Trump may do better than these predictions...we will just have to wait and see.

My biggest issue is November and the GOP avoiding a split resulting over an ugly convention fight that leads to a DNC win. we simply MUST avoid that.

For that reason I wrote the letter that this thread is about.
