CBS Battleground Polls: Donald Trump Extends Leads, Lack of “Authenticity” Dogging Ted Cruz…

CBS via YouGov has released a series of battleground polls for New York, Pennsylvania and California (full pdf’s below). Interestingly the polls are not identical questionnaires; instead they appear geographically nuanced, specifically on the Democrat queries.

However, there are some rather interesting trend similarities which are embedding as the campaigns of the three remaining republican candidates take on increased importance:

The electorate has made up their mind. There is only about 3% of the electorate who might change their vote. There will not be any “surging” per se’. Donald Trump’s overall appeal is across all demographics and internal ideologies. Donald Trump wins with women voters, and higher information political consumers. Very Importantly – Trump is seen as most authentic and capable as a political change agent. Trump also leads with Hispanic voters in California, and absolutely crushes the competition with the Asian electorate. The most important issue in all three states (NY, PA, CA) are jobs/economy. And economic voters are overwhelmingly Trump voters. (Trump also leads on the alternative issues – second place: security/terrorism) Conversely, Ted Cruz is seen as the most “inauthentic” candidate in the race.

Try phony bastard!

Thanks for the morning laugh. Maybe that should be Trump’s new nickname for him instead of lying Ted.

However, Cruz's serial strategy failure flops helped Trump. The Canadian hit a new low when he (1) went on a bash-Trump marathon, and, (2) started poaching delegates.

His low nos virtually collapsed. Self-absorbed Ivy League Cruz is one-dimension. How dumb not to have factored in that millions of Trump supporters would not be amused at his shenanigans.

Even if Cruz's poaching delegates from Trump-won states were legal, Trump has effectively turned it around to "Cruz cheats".

Perception is everything and Trump is capitalizing on that to where he may exceed the 1237 on the first vote.

As I mentioned months ago, Jeff Roe’s forte is state elections. In that venue, he can out-cheat even the tactics Obama used, but by the time it hits the fan the election is over.

A national campaign allows time for the voters to see the lies and dirty tricks before everyone has voted. Granted some voted prior to realizing what a gutter-slime campaign Roe was running. But many have not—and they have taken note.

“destined to be ruled by idiots”? We already are and they lie and vote with the democrats. They tell us one story but change it when they return to dc.

“Reality TV Star”? Miopic much? His TV show came long long long after his great success as a land developer. Not like cruz, who employed 10’s of thousands of people. No wait...
You really are a tool, aren’t you...

I’ve read cruz has probably changed a lot of the Trump delegates in GA to him.

Northeasterners don’t like televangelists. It’s why New Yorkers run to change the channels when that horror Joel Osteen comes on tv before Chris Wallace’s show. And Ted presents himself as a televangelist. And like the bulk of them, he’s a complete, self-serving phony with a really grating manner.

“Conversely, Ted Cruz is seen as the most “inauthentic” candidate in the race.”

Inauthentic???? Euphemism for “PHONY”.

How many times have I said what a phony Cruz is?

Ted wins “inauthentic” (phony) category without even being pummeled with “Inauthentic Ted” or “Phony Ted”. The voters think this all on their own observations.

In every poll Donald Trump wins the “he-is-who-he-is” factor.

As Lee Atwater would tell you, that’s critically important. Once the broader electorate sense “who you are”, and become comfortable with that sensibility, there is a remarkable shift toward granting the benefit of doubt in policy and change.

[The most recent example of such a benefactor was Bill Clinton in his prime.]

However, in the same polls, Ted Cruz is viewed as the candidate willing to tell you everything you want to hear so long as it benefits him. That’s the “authenticity” issue. Just as there is a long-term benefit in positive authenticity polling, there is a long-term detriment in negative authenticity polling.

Opinions of “authenticity” are almost impossible to change once they embed. The word ‘almost’ is an understatement, because no politician in modern times has ever been able to reverse the authenticity component.

Bernie Sanders also benefits from positive opinions in authenticity, and Hillary Clinton is viewed similarly to Cruz as inherently inauthentic as a matter of mere disposition.

Here’s what Limbaugh’s DREADED 100 DAYS of GOPe ATTACKS ON Trump did so far: Trump + 5.8% Cruz - 5.5% mathematically eliminated In NY down BIG in Ca Cruz falling all over.
Trump’s “conservative” enemies are killing Cruz.

It’s over. Trump won. $35 million in negative ads in Florida and it didn’t move the polls one point. Only the narcissism of loser Ted Cruz is creating the illusion of race.

Rand nailed Cruz on this in his last debate. Cruz not authentic. Ted Cruz the man doesn’t match the Conservative warrior myth and all but his deluded cultists can see it. Plain and simple.

Since Cruz won the GOP rigged outcome in Colorado, he has been dropping
like a rock. So much for the anointed one.
