'He Can Change': The New York Post Endorses Carol's Boyfriend (satire)
National Review ^ | April 15, 2016 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 04/16/2016 6:58:54 PM PDT by EveningStar

Carol's boyfriend is a mercurial figure -- a potentially nice guy, but unreliable, dangerous, and married to someone else. Exactly who he is can be hard to make out amid his capriciousness, his lying, and his occasional descents into violence...

But he can change. What else to expect from someone who reflects the baser passions? It'll be different when Carol fixes him. It'll be different when he leaves his wife. It'll be different when he kicks the habit. It'll be different when he gets back on his feet again. The therapy will change him. And Carol can learn to stop provoking him.

For those reasons, the New York Post today endorses Carol's boyfriend for another year of excitement and whimsy.

Dew hurst was the GOPE plant.

Cruz beat him.

You all need to sleep in the bed you made.

Your argument is Cruz is a liar.

That’s a lie. It’s been mean spirited garbage from you all since Iowa.

That’s how you roll. There is no substantive reason trump is better than Cruz.

We are supposed to believe he is some sort of super bad ass Consevative who will transform American politics.

There is no good reason to believe that.

All that is left to do is to bully people like me into silence

I won’t.

Trump worshipers, in spite of Trump's political flip-flopping

This is not something you really believe in, since you know Cruz has not only flip flopped, but lied about the flip flops. His lies about never supporting amnesty is a good example of this. I'm confident this doesn't bother you though, since you probably support amnesty, judging from your previous support for Rubio.

Dress it up any way possible. A pig with lipstick is still a pig, eh?

Cruz fanatics are imploding. I expect to see them among the ranks of Bernie's Brigades pretty soon. Forcing violent confrontations, burning trash cans and breaking windows, all the while screaming they're doing it for "patriotic" reasons.

Cruz sycophants are beyond reasoning with. They are a lost cause. The pressures finally made them crack and they’ve allied themselves with the puppet of the wizards behind the curtain. Eventually they will drift into oblivion, taking their silent shrieking inner conflicts with them. Into the depths of madness.

Then leave.

Just simply pack up your GOPe Tripe and leave.

We are either in this to change this party, or we are in it to keep the party the same.

You’ve made your choice.

Get lost.

Charles C. W. Cooke thinks Trump’s the bad boyfriend, the drug addict, the liar, the abuser... What? Was Hitler used too often to have impact?

It’s just nasty name calling without any supporting facts... but it reminds me of how I feel about National Review...

Many of us kept thinking the Review would give up their hate... That they would realize their magazine represents the views of the 3% of Republicans who supported Jeb Bush... They would start to sense that they are the extreme.. out of step with the rest of us.

It’s time to see that they’ll never change. It’s time to give up on them and move on... give up the old abuser...

Are you saying trump hasn’t flip flopped? he calls Cruz a liar for pointing it out...just remember without Cruz the gang of 8 probably passes....btw trump supports amnesty.. You don’t even know what he stands for

According to Cruz, "common sense" legalization of illegals would have passed had his amendment been accepted, since their bill was too radical as it stood. Cruz promoted this after the fight was over.

You live in a dream world of made up facts.

Obviously Carol not only stole his heart away, she also ran off with this writer’s brain.

Pretty sad state of affairs. We have met the enemy and he is us.

“All that is left to do is to bully people like me into silence”

You are 100% correct. Keep up the good fight.

Both still viable Republican candidates are human and have good qualities and bad.

People like Cruz, Walker, etc were/are rock stars in the conservative wing for their fights against the establishment and against union thugs.

It’s a bloody shame that Trump feels a need to destroy good people to advance himself. He has some good points regarding the border and such.

But he is horrendously wrong on other things like entitlements which are at least as important to reform as is the border bits. In fact, if the current law was simply enforced we would be half way there to fixing the immigration problems.

But the unconstitutional entitlements are sinking America fast and it is not simply a matter of enforcement. It will require a big fight with lots of people on our side.

Based on his very strong statements of support for them, Trump IS the establishment when it comes to entitlements and he is trying to destroy those who wish to fix that most urgent problem.

I will hold my nose and vote for Trump if he wins the nomination. Same as I did for the other establishment types. Because he will be like another Bush in November, the lesser of two evils.

It is wrong for the other establishment types to say ‘never Trump’ just as it is wrong for Trump supporters to say ‘only Trump’.

Our party will be facing either Hillary Capone or Che Sanders. If we were not so immature ourselves, this cycle would be a cake walk.

I’m sorry friend, but you see something in Trump that those of us not in his camp do not, and I believe is simply not there. I’m afraid that he is not the man you think he is, and in the end, he is only in this for himself. He has no intention of tearing down the system, even if his candidacy doesn’t end in the worst debacle since Goldwater.

"I’m sorry friend, but you see something in Trump that those of us not in his camp do not..."

So it's not just me?

I thought maybe I forgot to pick up the 3-D glasses on my way in or something.

Because, for one example, I just can't fathom the dimension of Trump which is going to be somehow better on spending. He already repeatedly promised not to touch entitlements. And spend more on Defense.

Unless he plans to somehow magically/tragically stop making the huge and growing interest payments on the monstrous debt, then we are about out of significant things options for less spending.

I'm just not seeing it. I'm going to the lobby to find those glasses. Need popcorn or anything?

The House of Representatives stopped the gang of 8 bill after Cantor got tossed in his primary by David Brat.

Cruz didn’t stop anything.

As I have said before..I respect you, D1.

But the “corrupted caucuses” are up to each state, are they not? It should be up to the residents of the caucus states to change things...not the rest of the country. Myself, I think it is a crazy system.

I really don’t think you or I or anybody knows how Trump or Cruz would actually perform as president. As far as I can see, both are playing with the GOPe. That is politics...I get it.

Myself, I am #Anyone but Hill or Bern.
