'He Can Change': The New York Post Endorses Carol's Boyfriend (satire)
National Review ^ | April 15, 2016 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 04/16/2016 6:58:54 PM PDT by EveningStar

Carol's boyfriend is a mercurial figure -- a potentially nice guy, but unreliable, dangerous, and married to someone else. Exactly who he is can be hard to make out amid his capriciousness, his lying, and his occasional descents into violence...

But he can change. What else to expect from someone who reflects the baser passions? It'll be different when Carol fixes him. It'll be different when he leaves his wife. It'll be different when he kicks the habit. It'll be different when he gets back on his feet again. The therapy will change him. And Carol can learn to stop provoking him.

For those reasons, the New York Post today endorses Carol's boyfriend for another year of excitement and whimsy.

Cooke and EveningStar are just angry that they can’t silence opponents like in the good old days— something they’re openly lamenting with the death of “Pope” Buckley, who surely would have excommunicated all these vulgarians.

You are a shill for the GOPe.

If you didn’t know it, you should wake up.

Cruz cannot with without subverting the system.

The GOPe is corrupt and has been in cahoots with the Democrat party.

Do you agree with that? What part of the GOPe defeating Trump appeals to you?

Cruz won’t change the GOPe’s direction. What part of that do you not understand?

Do you like the direction our nation has been heading with the GOPe and Democrats in charge?

You actually want the GOPe in charge, with no changes?

Sure, he steals money from Carol’s wallet to buy drugs and occasionally uses her car to make his deliveries.

Is this about Cruz or the Republicans or both ... hard to tell, but bad satire is that way.

I'll be voting for Donald Trump in November.

Cruz has been fighting the GOPE far longer than trump

Cruz has public respect that a dozen other candidates lacked.

But radical scorn is heaped on Cruz by trump since Iowa because trump never believes he loses.

It is trump who has taken this into the gutter.

Cruz fought the GOPE here in Texas to get his senate seat. He was not the RNC choice. Dewhurst was.

I’ve seen Cruz pull these things out. He can do it again.

How does a violent, abusive, drug addled character in this "story" relate to Trump?

Is the NR claiming Trump is any of those?

Of course, the Cruzers titter like prepubescent little girls at such crap.

Maybe the story of how Cruz's lovers used to peg ole Teddy in the Senate cloakroom........

Your guy is a GOPe plant.

He can’t get elected without their corrupted caucuses.

Ted will not change one damned thing in DC.

You folks have chosen to line up against the rest of us who want to see the GOPe defeated.

This is the best chance we have had to do it in 100 years.

This chance won’t come around again.

This is not between Cruz and Trump.

IT IS BETWEEN BLOWING THE GOPe UP OR NOT!

Trump will. Ted will not.

Folks, you have to know the stakes this election. Either we take advantage of this opportunity, or the nation goes down.

We can’t continue to deficit spend. Ted has no experience whatsoever to qualify him as the man to turn this nation around.

I have been so sad, William F Buckley must be turning over in his grave. He could use satire and actually make a cogent point... Cooke, not so much.

The GOPe - which most certainly includes NR and especially the Brit editor, Cooke - is like a demon or alien, kicking and shrieking as DT commands them to get the he’ll out of your sanctuaries.

Cruz has been fighting the GOPE far longer than trump

Cruz fought the GOPe by advocating for legalization of illegals short of citizenship, which he continued to support even after the Gang of Eight fight was over, and which he lied about to millions people when he claimed he never supported legalization. Cruz fought the GOPe by dismissing Sessions and his supporters as "internet conspiracy" kooks and fighting for TPA in the senate. To this day, Cruz still supports 99 percent of everything in TPP. Cruz fought the GOPe by becoming their candidate against Donald Trump, using trickery and fraud in a vain attempt to keep Trump from getting to 1237 delegates.

Cruz is a filthy fraud and a sociopath. Stick a fork in him, I'd be surprised if someone doesn't attempt to primary him in Texas.

No. Of course not. It's satire.

I think that what author Cooke is saying is that Trump worshipers, in spite of Trump's political flip-flopping and recent liberal past, believe that Trump will be a great conservative American President.
