Entering the Orbit of a Total Narcissist: Who's Who in Donald Trump's Inner Circle
The Guardian ^ | April 15 2016 | on Swaine, Oliver Laughland and Ben Jacobs

Posted on 04/16/2016 9:29:51 AM PDT by Savage Rider

From his career in New York real estate to his extraordinary campaign for the White House, the court of Donald Trump has operated much like that of Louis XIV of France: everything revolves around the imperious, bouffanted Sun King.

“He is a total narcissist, and what you see here is the way he’s always been,” said a source intimately familiar with Trump’s way of working, who declined to be identified criticising a potential president. “This, between you and me, will be the destruction of the United States.”

The problem is Trump doesn’t know how to go about doing any of these things and would be as disorganized as president as he is in campaigning.

His plans, almost white papers, are no secret: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions. Furthermore, if you listen to his speeches, instead of the misinformation from the media, he discloses details of how he will accomplish what he says.

He did not become a billionaire by being disorganized or unable to accomplish things.

You could be right. You can lead a horse to water, and all that.

However, I would be negligent if I did not provide links to back up what I say.

Jeff Sessions is not currently on the Donald’s staff.

He endorsed him. That's what I meant. He'll be actively involved in a position of responsibility.

You state you are a psychiatric nurse, who has worked with extremely ill people for 10 years. Don’t you think it is just a tad unusual that a man with an such extremely disordered personality that you insist Mr. Trump has, in his 70 years of life has never had a psychiatric admission, has stated his past is fair game and is perfectly open about it, is exceptionally successful financially (which is certainly indicative of consistently focused and organized cognition and demonstrates consistent and excellent contact with reality, as well as a well-integrated personality) and above all, and I cannot emphasize this enough, HAS NO SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEMS?????????

And, I might add, Donald Trump has a good sense of humor. He can crack a joke, he gets jokes! He is funny. He can make a joke at his own expense, I have heard him. Of what psychopathology is this a cardinal symptom, Dr. Nurse?

I agree that Donald Trump has some character traits that probably make him a hard person to live with, and he is not someone you or I would ever want to marry. But he accomplishes great things, what he sets out to do, he does. He loves challenges. He builds things. He fixes things. It appears to me, he has an unusually good grasp of the essential truth of things, and is unafraid to speak his mind, however tactlessly and bluntly, sometimes crudely, and he seems to have a gift for being able to size people up quickly and accurately.

Maybe you are right. Maybe every single one of those negative traits you have diagnosed in Donald Trump without an interview, without any testing or direct observation whatsoever, based only on information filtered through a mountain of negative nasty press reports, and well-published libel and slander by his many enemies who want to take him down because their gravy trains are threatened, were given to him, so he would recognize those traits in those who would do evil. Who but God knows why He made Donald Trump the way He made him?

By the way, you forgot to diagnose those positive character traits and assets of this high functioning, non-acute patient who apparently is having no problems in his daily life, and has not presented to your hospital — which might be far more pertinent than your presumptive diagnoses. A good physician/therapist ought assess the patient’s actual level of functioning. You are guilty of malpractice, and you have probably misdiagnosed the patient, Dr. Nurse.

By the way, You also failed to look at the positive traits in Donald Trump’s personality which may be far more important than the negatives, and much more predictive of a healthy life, and since Donald Trump is 70 years old and very successful, and seems to have a good relationship with his family, including his two ex-wives, there must be some pretty good things going on too.

Really, Dr. Nurse, a good therapist looks for, and builds on the positive traits and strengths in a patient so he can have a healthier life. Are we to believe Donald Trump has none?

And by the way, if you are right about those not-so-good things in Donald Trump’s personality, he has channeled those not-so-good things in a constructive manner; those political leaders he challenges and skewers and leaves by the wayside, have used those not-so-good things within themselves in very evil ways.

His outsize ego, which you think twisted (and certainly sometimes misused in his youth, and I like you do not condone it) indeed is from God and given to him for the sake of this country, so that now in his old age and for this time, he can weather the abuse he has endured from every direction, and still stand tall.

God makes no mistakes. He knows what He is doing when He made each and every one of us. And I think when all is said and done, though Donald Trump is a loud mouth, and was a bit of a rouge in his youth, the sum total of Donald Trump is that he is not a bad man, and now he is becoming a great man. He sees all the evil that has befallen his country and has decided to stand up to it and try to fix it, maybe part of is ego, and this okay with me. He is still risking much, maybe even his life, taking up this nearly impossible task against incredible odds and against very powerful people at an age when he should be relaxing and enjoying life.

When all is said and done, I think Donald Trump will be judged a good man and a hero by the men who write the history books, and perhaps even God Himself who knows the hearts of men will have a kindness for Donald Trump. Who can say?

Let me add one more thing, Dr. Nurse, there were times in Winston Churchill’s life, when he would most definitely have qualified for admission into your hospital.

“Being an incredibly successful CEO of a tech company does not predict that you can run a clothing manufacturing, or food production company. Heck, it doesn’t mean you’ll be able to run a tech company in a different segment very well.”

But it is predictive of success, a competent chief executive can transition from running a car company to running a food production company to running a clothing manufacturing business. Obviously, there are differences between each, and the savvy chief exec, recognizes from the start there are differences, will set out to inform himself of the differences and has the wisdom to consult middle management, engineers, techs, designers, the bean counters etc., before making any serious decisions or major changes, but broadly speaking, a business is a business, the principles are the same, the bottom line ultimately matters.

And there are pitfalls and pratfalls that are common to just about every business that the savvy CEO is aware of, and knows how to avoid and overcome, as well intangibles that are extremely beneficial to any business, and how to take advantage when they occur, or create to them, which may befall any business, and not directly related to the kind of business. He can recognize opportunities that may not be apparent to lesser experienced or less gifted, and may have created a personal network over the years which can be extremely useful, again regardless of the kind of business he is currently running.

A talented CEO can probably turn any failing business around if it is possible to turn it around.

I agree with you regarding middle management, however, Hiring experienced middle management from a food production company for a tech company would probably be very foolish, and a good CEO would probably not allow it; although he might, under unusual circumstances, and if so, it will probably turn out that he was right to do so.

Those with Axis II personality disorders are rarely hospitalized for their illness- unless their utter disregard for others leads to a crime. Substance abuse is not correlated with narcissism. Narcissists lack insight into their issues and point the finger elsewhere- never admitting that they may be at fault. Many CEOs are narcissists- they succeed in part because they trample others. They wreak havoc in the lives of those close to them.

Trump does not have a good relationship with his two ex-wives. He bought their silence and threatened legal action if they revealed what occurred in their marriage.

I have formed my opinion about his personality disorder from his history and the countless hours of media coverage. I have seen his speeches, his mockery, insults and name-calling, mugging, illeism and lack of substance.

So Dr. erkelly, with no stated experience in the mental health field, I reject your argument.

Winston Churchill should not be mentioned in a discussion of Trump. Churchill was a great man.

Posting those huge annoying pictures must be easier than making a sensible comment.

They only seem to be huge to a small minded, vacillating Trump-hater like you, backing someone who will be mathematically eliminated by the end of this month.

Cruz has an excellent chance to win on the second ballot.

Lucas Jackson thought he had a great chance too.

Are you suggesting Americans posting images to make their point is something new?
This annoys you? That seems a bit anti American to me.

Altura and the rest of the Cruz worshipers are by default, supporting the first Cuban-Canadian to seek the Presidency, if they were concerned with being pro-American, they would support Trump.

How do you know whether or not I have a medical background? How do I know you do? Anyone can rattle off anything about Axis I, II, III, IV, or V, so what?

And where do you get off making libelous diagnoses of a man who you have never examined, never administered so much as one single test (which if you are a nurse and not a clinical psychologist you do not have the qualifications to do anyway) diagnoses based on nothing whatsoever about other than what the very dishonest media reports, and without any knowledge whatsoever of the positive traits this man may possess, or mitigating circumstances in this man’s life. Or for that matter, the kind of people this man’s ex-wives are. In fact, you don’t know anything. You just want to commit some learned-sounding libelous goobledy-gook for which you are probably paid, which you can get away with because this man is a public figure.

If you do possess some medical credential or other is it not an egregious abuse of it to use it in such a manner to make such terrible public statements about anyone’s psychiatric condition when you do NOT have all the facts? For that matter, you have no facts. You have hearsay.

If this were not a famous man you would be sued, and you would have to prove would you have said. And if indeed you did have some medical degree or other, you would lose it, and you deserve to lose it. You deserve to lose it for the things you said today. You ought to lose it.

I think if you really were a medical health professional, you would be a whole lot more careful about what you say in public about anyone, particularly where mental health issues are concerned.

I know if I were a medical health professional I would be very careful about patient confidentiality just on general principle, because I would be well schooled on those pesky HPIAA issues and how troublesome they are these days, and how one could even end up in prison if some Trump supporter in California read those libelous posts of yours, since I am not sure those libel laws that shield one from being sued by a public figure, would protect a mental health professional who undertook to diagnose an individual’s mental health, even a public figure’s, and then publish those diagnoses.

The draconian California HPIAA laws you see, are the kind of thing, if one did happen to be a medical professional in Nevada who is regularly involved with patients from California, would be aware of.

PS: FYI, narcissism is a common trait of alcoholics.

The point of the article?

...a source intimately familiar with Trump’s way of working, who declined to be identified......

That is the point.

There isn't one.

Just a bunch of vague and ominous warnings from people who, (if they actually exist) are not exactly standing behind their words.

They came to his rallies by the thousands, over and over and over they came.

Voters are choosing Trump because of the colors- RED, WHITE, and BLUE!

They too are coming to his rallies by the thousands, over and over and over.

pit when Cruz finally collapses, she'll chain other cult
