Trump campaign manager will not be prosecuted, sources say
Politico ^

A Florida prosecutor has decided not to prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager for battery after a March run-in with former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, sources with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO.

The decision not to press charges against Corey Lewandowski is scheduled to be announced on Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.

Fields may still pursue a defamation case against Lewandowski, a source said.

Fields filed a police report last month after Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of Trump’s way following a press conference at Trump National Gold Club in Jupiter. She said he left bruises on her arm. Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.

Aronberg would not comment, but in a POLITICO interview last week, he pointed out that Jupiter police had a low “probable cause” standard to cite Lewandowski for battery. But the responsibility for moving forward with a full-blown prosecution rested with Aronberg’s office, which had to consider whether a crime occurred and whether they believed a jury of Floridians would prosecute.

“We have a higher standard to go forward with a prosecution,” he said.

“Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.”

The police charge the prosecutor decides not to prosecute the charge. That’s the way I read it. It makes sense.

I know nothing happened. That’s why they dropped the case against him. I was commenting on the attacks against Corey from everyone with tds, including Cruz and his supporters.

Thank you for the update. I was unaware. I will respectfully disagree. If JimRob decides that Cruz supporters are unwelcome as such, I'll take a break and come back after the convention is over.

I think it’s the other way around.

Told you folks on day one...this case has no merit, and is going nowhere. When Palm Beach County State Attorney, David Aronberg reviewed the case, he saw nothing but insanity, if he moved the case foward. Mr. Aronberg is a tried & true Clinton Democrat.....but he is neither a fool or an idiot, as is Ted Cruz and Cable TV news media!!! End of story!!! Congrats, Cory....justice & truth have been served fairly!!!

She is a serial lawsuit filer...Has been pushed and shoved way more than normal person...

Greta and Napolitano looked at Video and said there was nothing to her allegations.

She is an inept reporter trying to capitalize on a situation to make herself the news.

No big surprise...Another “trumped up” bombshell used against Trump prior to the Wisco election.\

Gee Thanks Meghan Kelly and all the Cruzers who pushed the story.

“Claiming that Lewandowski is innocent of the charges simply because they decided not to prosecute is like saying an illegal is not an illegal simply because Obama decided not to deport.”

It reveals that a lot of Conservatives are cowardly conformists, Social Justice Warriors. Willing to use the same tactics that Leftist use against political opponents to score political win

Trump’s lawyers are licking their chops, hoping this woman files a defamation lawsuit.

Fla. Stat. § 57.105. The statute provides in part:

(1) Upon the court’s initiative or motion of any party, the court shall award a reasonable attorney’s fee to be paid to the prevailing party in equal amounts by the losing party and the losing party’s attorney on any claim or defense at any time during a civil proceeding or action in which the court finds that the losing party or the losing party’s attorney knew or should have known that a claim or defense when initially presented to the court or at any time before trial

: (a) Was not supported by the material facts necessary to establish the claim or defense; or,

(b) Would not be supported by the application of then-existing law to those material facts....

Attorney's fees are diddly squat compared to the damage to Corey and to the whole of the Trump campaign.

Complete BS. I followed these threads closely. Numerous Ted supporters where raking this poor guy over the coals and and then ascribing violence to Trump’s campaign.

It is not complete BS. First, you admit that I may have been support've of Lewandowski during this whole thing, so that is not BS, because it is true. I also said that MOST Cruz supporters don't hop on. That is also true. There are thousands of Cruz supporters and a few tenacious ones decided to make a big deal out of it. MOST have not. Some, like me agree that the charge was bogus. That is NOT BS.

Your announcement of crickets on post two of a fresh thread was a bit premature. I am glad that time and effort is not being wasted on a man doing his job properly, but could not express that before you announced crickets. Does this further the discussion? No. Does this help Trump? No.

As far as those who a less discerning on ANYthing that might be seen to be used against Trump, we Cruz supporters have suffered as bad and worse with FAR more vanities assuming the details of the National Enquirer garbage. (I am not accusing you of getting in on that one, I'm am just using it as an example.)

There's no place on EITHER SIDE for this "In before the ..."

Rush will be on the air tomorrow saying, “I told you so”. (even though he avoided this like Fields was Sandra Fluke).

He’ll try to spin it and give some “deeper” insight that he had but couldn’t articulate.

Alright, I ignored the ‘atmosphere’ part of your post. Cruz used it insinuate Trump was responsible for violence at his rallies. I used it to insinuate lyin Ted was responsible for the misinformation some of his supporters are touting.

Let’s not forget that constitutional scholar, Ted Cruz, who said Corey should be fired - even before he had his day in court. Constitutional scholar, my arse. He’s pathetic.

The fact that it took you that long in your missive to extricate yourself from the mess of your fellow Ted travelers confirms my position further. I could easily make it guilt by association but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Stop with the girly boy crap, the guy did nothing. Was she charged for grabbing Trump’s arm? Your analogy is completely invalid, total pretzel logic.

Why doesn't he sue her BACK?

Because she won't dare sue, that involves discovery.
