Ted Cruz Tries, Fails to Explain ‘New York Values’ to Actual New Yorkers
NY Mag ^ | 7 Apr 16 | Claire Landsbaum

Cruz's reception in New York was chilly.

Back in January, Ted Cruz made the mistake of assuming the rest of America still hates New York. His dismissal of "New York values" didn't endear him to the Empire State — Governor Cuomo demanded an apology from Cruz, and the New York Daily News did what the New York Daily News does best — and as expected, the comment came back to haunt him as he campaigned in the Bronx on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, at a massive rally in Long Island, Donald Trump, who's polling ahead of Cruz in New York by a wide margin, used the senator's remarks against him. "Do you remember during the debate when he started lecturing me on New York values like we're no good?" Trump asked the crowd. "Folks, I think you can forget about him."

For an “outsider” the heir of the Drumpf brothel empire sure seems to be well connected.

You're certainly going to mention Donald Trump's ties to organized crime figures in NY/NJ....right? After all, can't get anything done in these two liberal bastions w/o hob nobbing with the underworld. Everyone knows it, few will admit it.

I am just saying that getting 95 delegates in New York would be beautiful for trump’s numbers. After New York, trump needs about 400 delegates. New Jersey and its 349 delegates. Trump is getting close to the nomination for sure going into Ohio.

Well, this article does not mention this man that the Inquisitr report quoted, who gets what it was Cruz was trying to say:
Donald Sadler, told the Huffington Post that he is a Cruz supporter and that he was glad to see Cruz in his borough. Sadler said that he understood what Cruz meant by “New York values” and that he agrees with the Texas senator.

“I understand clearly,” he said. “I’m pro-life. I’m pro-Second Amendment. I’m born and raised in New York City. I’m pro-family, traditional family, traditional marriage. These are our values. This is my value. This is not the general value of how voters in New York vote, and that’s what he said.”

So, some do get it.

Sadly, the way Trump initially phrased the original comment during the debate, and then the way that Trump it turned around on him...followed by the press, means that very, very few New Yorker's will make the connections that this man has.

Cruz is showing fortitude in going there and trying to get the explanation out...and I can respect that. In addition, if he can somehow keep Trump below 50% it would be worth his while...but that seems unlikely.

Quite frankly, at this point, his time would probably be more productively spent in PA and MD.

“You do know that Dems can’t vote in the NY primaries for Trump don’t you?”

So what. The Democrat political machine loves him and his money. It’s no secret that trump is buddy buddy with most of them.

Ted insulted the whole state on national television.

Cruz said that Trump had NY values. He never once said that NY values were bad or that NY'ers were bad. I guess NY'ers instinctively know that their values suck and that the truth hurts.

If you NY'ers are so tough quit crying and GTFOH!

IIRC, the temple of baal was an archeological site in Syria that was destroyed by ISIS. It was salvaged and has been sent to a museum in the US for reconstruction.

Do you approve of ISIS and the Taliban tearing down ancient sites throughout the middle east and asia?

New York Values: 1.Commonly used term only applying to NYC, which is in itself noteworthy, as those with New York Values do not consider that fly-over country even exists, not even in their own state. 2. Belief that people can only attain happiness through the direct and heavy hand of the government to control every aspect of their daily lives. 3. A disdain for individual liberty, Christianity, European cultural history, and the great ignorant masses, defined by their geographical location in fly-over country.

I like what he says. I will support him if he is the nominee. I just don’t believe him.

Then, sounds like....according to your post....that cRuz doesn’t need the NY votes, so why bother going there to preach, and to double down on his inane remark?

He’s not going to change NY and they are NOT going to ever like him.

And if he doesn’t get a majority of the delegates and it goes to a contested convention, you won’t like the process again.

...."Upstaters know what he is talking about."....

I say the same thing. It's mainly NYC that has the brain damage. They have a communist mayor. They haven't seen a tax they don't like. Rent controls. As socially liberal as San Francisco. They hate guns. Grinding poverty in certain area's, but they still vote for the same bastids that put them there.

The upstaters vote more conservative, but the metropolitan areas swamp them as a rule. What Cruz said was correct and it had nothing to do with cops and firemen rushing into burning buildings. Even that would be unveiled if you check the number of New Yorkers in the military vs. Texas or Tenn. as a percentage of the population.

It's tough for Cruz in NYC, but he'll do OK in the rest of the state but that won't be good enough to make a dent in the NYC Marxists. That's how you get a Quomo in Albany. NYC would vote for a Kardashian over Cruz. Trump is one of them, a baby killer that like gay marriage, and supports all the Dems running for Office.

shoot guns at passing cars for fun, and drink moonshine for breakfast.

What's wrong with that?

And Ted should continue to press them on their “New York” values. How dare they question little Teddy.

Cuomo, Scheinderman, Schumer, Gillibrand, Clinton, Rangel, Nadler, Lowey, Israel, Spitzer, Mahoney, Maloney, Engel, Slaughter, King (R that’s like a D), Patterson and the list goes on, past and present. There are no values there.
