Cruz cozies up to D.C. establishment
Politico ^ | 4/6/2016 | Katie Gluiek

Posted on 04/06/2016 5:43:30 AM PDT by lodi90

He's disparaged his own Republican leader as a liar and dismissed fellow senators as part of the "Washington cartel." But now, with his presidential prospects hanging in the balance, Ted Cruz is moving closer than ever to the D.C. establishment. Directly and through surrogates, the Texas senator is aggressively reaching out to his Senate colleagues as he prepares for the possibility of a convention floor fight against Donald Trump. And Cruz’s emissaries on Capitol Hill are now signaling to senior Republicans that Cruz would be willing to work with them as the GOP nominee in a way Trump would not.

The only people selling the Anti establishment nonsense are clueless Cruzers. He is bought and paid for by Wall Street and K Street and then he bribes other insiders like Carly to zip her lips and help with his dirty laundry,

All indications are he is using the establishment and it’s resources to get to where he wants.

Then he is a naïve idiot ...

That is the truth. I am particularly p.o.’d at Romney. I had thought him at least a gentleman. No longer.

I want an outsider. the only one left is Donald Trump. p.s. I was a Ben Carson supporter for the same reason. And a Herman Cain supporter prior to that.

Yep. He grew up as part of the W. team, and W.’s supposed big lesson that won him the presidency was watching his father get skewered for not being Texas conservative enough—and then feigning Texas conservatism all the way to the White House.

Cruz has basically taken that just a few steps farther.

Cruz’s past indicates he will be a principled conservative when he is in the White House. All indications are he is using the establishment and it’s resources to get to where he wants. Far to long the establishment has used the grassroots, it’s about time we have used them.

He’s a traitor and doesn’t really stand for anything. Cruz is a prime example of why the people are so fed up with DC and the GOP.

As usual, Politico totally misreads the tea leaves. If they had any brains they would have titled the article:

"The D.C. establishment cozies up to Cruz"

The GOPe hates Cruz. But they hate him less than they do Trump. Given their options the establishment has made the correct decision. Back Cruz and accept the fact that he is the only viable alternative to Cruz.

Over-analyze it if it makes you feel good.
Tell us you will sit out the election if Trump isn't nominated.
Accuse Cruz with his 98% conservative voting record of selling out to the GOPe if you like.
And predict Paul Ryan will win on the 2nd ballot if Trump doesn't get his 1237.

Not me. I don't get my sources from Politico.

Well, maybe not always, but he certainly is now. Once you've made that deal with the devil (i.e., the GOPe), you're in it for good.

What deal? Give us some details.

This election has become a scenario that equates with neighborhoods under the control of the Mafia. The residents know that the “Bosses” are underhanded, unprincipled and are draining them for their own benefit. However, the residents know that what little benevolence the “Mob” has towards them will turn to all out punishment if they dare to stand up for themselves. They’re of the mind that “the little people”(read: voters)just don’t have a chance against “The Organization.”) Well, we shall see.

It is becoming more clear that during the primaries the GOPEs will "cozy up" to Cruz and, driven by his hatred of Trump, Cruz will "cozy up" to the GOPEs who, until very recently, despised him to the point of publicly condemning him.

Once Cruz has served his only purpose -- that being to derail Trump -- the GOPEs will (again) crush him.

(Ted Cruz is a smart guy ... he has to have made this calculation.)

remember this , it seems cruz lies about this too.

“Let me encourage other members of the establishment: Keep supporting Donald Trump because every time you do it, what it is doing is telling conservatives all over the country is where you stand and who stands with you”.

Yup. They haven’t stopped him now, and they won’t do anything to repair the damage later.

Very sad.

Yes, it is. And it is what will win, now and in November. Remember it isn’t Cruz who has folded, it’s the ‘establishment’ bowing to the inevitable.
