Havana (CNN) — President Barack Obama touched down in Cuba on Sunday, definitively ending a half-century of estrangement in a dramatic personal demonstration of his core foreign policy principle of engaging America's enemies.

It's a shift that the change-minded president hopes will nudge the Communist government here to grant more freedoms to its people and open new economic channels for American businesses. The President and his allies also hope a successful détente will offer something bigger: a lasting example of diplomacy's power in dealing with longtime foes.

He wants to bring us the same glorious freedom and prosperity that the Cuban people have (except for the ones who risk death trying to escape).

” .... hopes visit will usher in change? “

Is he going to add $11 trillion to their budget?

It’s already resulted in change. Raul and Fidel are no longer the biggest, most worthless Marxist PsOS on the island....

While never mentioned in the MSM, Cuba has been free to trade with almost every country in the world for the last 60 plus years and their brand of Marxism has net them nothing except poverty and want. This is what Obama and Hillary and their Marxist enablers want for the USA too as it seems, the GOPe!

I wonder how much the U.S. taxpayers are going to have to spend to bribe the commie losers in Cuba to “usher in change”. Another “historic” raid on the U.S. Treasury by the Marxist Kenyan. I guess Obonzo and his boy, Kerry still have plenty of time left to make some fantastic, “historical” deals with the Commie Cubans. BOHICA!

Obama is such a bragging fool. He’s calling his own visit historic. Loves himself a little too much.

I’m trying to understand why this visit will change Cuba
after he’s given them what they want?

Am I being too obtuse?

Oh right, like diplomacy has been so powerfully masterful in dealing with Iran.

There's dumb and dumber but this has got to be DUMBEST!

I’m sure he can do for Cuba what he did for Chicago.

Fidel and his nomenklatura made out like bandits, though. Fidel is supposedly worth over $100 million. Sounds very communal, doesn’t he?

I’m sure our principled President will put justice for American crime victims ahead of any personal legacy embellishment - and demand Cuba hand over fugitive criminals (starting with “Assata Shakur”) as a precondition for any further favors to the Cuban regime.

I happened upon live coverage of his arrival, on a Spanish channel. It was raining, and he was actually holding his own umbrella!

Castro will show him staged displays depicting phony success stories of compassion and productivity, and Obama will come back a self-proclaimed expert on Cuba. While Fidel and Raoul laugh themselves sick.
