17-year-old Trevon Johnson was shot and killed by a 54-year-old homeowner when she saw him climbing out a window in her home. According to CBS Miami, the unidentified homeowner was alerted to a break-in by her home security system.
You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood. You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.

While that is the law in many places, in other states (such as mine) the law allows the shooting of someone in the back (the “fleeing felon” rule). Includes even if the felon does not pose immediate harm to anyone.
But then of course it becomes a moral and perhaps legalistic issue. Does one shoot the 17-year old in the back over a stolen TV set? How about a laptop with all of your personal information on it?

If that’s the parent’s attitude, then no wonder the kid ended up on the slab. My parents did their best to get me to fly straight, and I still got up to plenty of stupid stuff as a teenager. I can only imagine if my parents’ attitude was “gotta do what you gotta do”. I’d have been dead or in jail for sure.
