You are correct but partially, however. His talk continued. Immediately after that he termed the students as a “riot”. Clearly. This is what the democracy activists who fled China are very angry about.
Thanks for addressing the inaccuracy.
>> Trump’s sentiment; it’s admiring ...
Recognition isn’t necessarily a form of admiration.
Saw the origin transcript from Miami just now. He in fact termed it a “riot.” It can be substantiated.
F ‘the voices ‘
Trump supporters have become very good at translating what Trump really said... Never mind his actual words...
The apology wouldn’t be to the communist Chinese but to the opponents of the communist Chinese. There IS a difference.
Ya, f’ those people who were murdered in a peaceful demonstration that Trump said were participating in a “riot”... Trump trumps all reason it seems. No matter how stupid something he says is, we can depend on people like you to defend it no matter what.
So much for your regard for prominent Chinese (anti-govt) dissidents who opposed the Party and are exiled in the USA after their failed attempts at demcrzcy that led to deaths upward of 1,00 in the streets of Beijing for freedom. Yeah. I guess. “ F’em, right?” Thanks for clarifying the side you are on,
:-). You are a good person.

Wait, this is from a Japanese source [that had nothing to do with Nanking, etc], wanting an apology from Trump to the Chinese dissidents [anticommunists] he inappropriately labeled as 'rioters' while he openly admired the power the communist party used to crush a democratic protest? I seem to remember the communist government of China, wanting a few apologies from the post-imperial US constitution-based government of Japan established by US General MacArthur, referencing the actions of a wholly different pre-constitutional government of Japan based on imperialism, at Nanking, ref 731, etc... because the communist party of China wants to use the idea of collective guilt to soil the reputation of a US ally... and not because the Communist Party of China which killed millions of people itself... cares one whit about the Chinese that were brutally murdered in Nanking.
Things look a lot different when you add information.
With the history of the Cultural Revolution, most Chinese are not sympathetic to the students in Tianamen Square. NOVA has a very good documentary on the event.

The response of the US gov't at that time? Most favored nation status for China. Trump wants a tariff against Chinese goods to cut the 100s of billions in trade deficit. No word about that from these dissidents? Didn't think so.
Thank you!
Oh, so everyone here is supposed to label articles they post according to the Trump faction's Trumpsoc threat level board- all articles not reinforcing your orthodoxy are ungood and to be described as "crap" so you can be warned ahead of time to crimestop before clicking on the link and committing a thoughtcrime. Well then, I suppose you'd also want pro-Trump articles or transcripts of Trump's duckspeak to be graced with a positive designation such as "doubleplusgood" so you can avoid the emotional distress of accidentally reading unapproved material?
Oh goodie, a trade war. That’ll fix things right up.
Trump should apologize or clarify his statement.
He should not have had to...he said clearly the Chinese government was vicious. People who are not interested in truth, but in propaganda distorted what Trump said by focusing on the word strong and misapplying it as if Trumo used it in a positive sense, which he clearly did not. Next time you try to drink very strong tea or coffee think about it. Or next time you get a whiff of the strong smell of rotting fish.
He said the people they murdered were rioters.
That’s the simple truth.
They were peaceful - and were crushed literally.
And so yes, the survivors and their relatives may just take issue with that statement.
The rot smell is your mindless following of a man with a loose cannon mouth.
