For 26 years, Rush Limbaugh has insisted that conservative values, clearly and passionately articulated, will win every time. By conservative values Rush meant: God, country, family, community, liberty, individualism, personal responsibility, limited government, and free markets. Reagan was the model, and the promise: it had happened once, and could happen again.
Easier said than done.

Which Ivy League College was that?
Why is it that you Trumpbots insist on characterizing the emotional states of your adversaries? Seriously? This is the kind of projection that Leftists engage in... so maybe it isn't all that surprising.
Not the least bit angry, nor am I disappointed in any particular candidate. I am disappointed in so many "conservatives" who've defenestrated literally every mainstream conservative, and who're now defenestrating conservatism itself because their own candidate is not one.
When your "ideology free" Maximum Leader informs you that his supposed conversion to conservatism was just his initial negotiating position, what will you do then? Admit you've been betrayed, or continue to pretend that you knew he was being dishonest all along?
Re post 96 it is because he’s “flexible” ya know. So’s a slinky He has about as much substance as a slinky.
Cruz supporters threw the first punches.
If they can’t take the heat that they themselves created, they should have never gone in the kitchen to begin with.
I agree.... Free Republic is no longer conservative...the needle is now moving left...
At one time I did trust Ted, even knowing that he was not a natural born citizen because one does not need to be natural born to be a US Senator.
It was when he chose run for president, an office that he is not constitutionally qualified to assume to, I began to further verify his credentials and found out he could not be trusted, because 1st and foremost, a supposed Constitutional scholar & lawyer would have been aware that he was still a Canadian citizen at the time of his entering into the political arena in 2000 via the GW Bush campaign, and especially at the time of his running for the open US Senate seat for Texas.
Then I went and verified his voting record in the US Senate and found out that he voted for political favors for those who donated to his campaign for US Senator. Even to the tune of giving legal immunity from prosecution to one of those donors.
Then I went and verified his record of litigation before the Supreme Court and once again, he stood against the middle class working guy and instead represented the political donor cronies we have all come to abhor.

HOTGAS, an example of another person with too fast a website and too slow a thought process.
Why do we Conservatives give any credence to every nitwit who attacks the man who carried the Conservative mantle for 30+ years?
Had there been no Limbaugh, I hate to say it but there might not have been a FR.
Reagan will be next.
Similarly to 2012 when the Paulistas became almost as unbearable, it seemed to be lost to the anarchic libertarians, but survived only because JR stepped in just in time and shooed them away like so many green flies.
Didn’t bother reading it, did you?
He did not attack Rush in any way, shape, or form
Cruz, soon to be a footnote in history.
Reagan has already been bashed here on at least one other thread. There seems to be no more sacred conservative icons for those blinded by Trump.

Keep telling yourself that. No one else is going to believe it.
Ted Cruz is not a Constitutional natural born citizen, therefore, he does not represent Constitutional conservatism, he represents a living, breathing document that is ever changing with every whim of any given generation. To protect Constitutional conservatism & the future of our Republic & its form of government, we turn to George Washington and his farewell address,
If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit, which the use can at any time yield
As avenues to foreign influence in innumerable ways, such attachments are particularly alarming to the truly enlightened and independent patriot. How many opportunities do they afford to tamper with domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe the public councils. Such an attachment of a small or weak towards a great and powerful nation dooms the former to be the satellite of the latter.
Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government...
Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests
And you guys have the nerve to call everybody else cultists.

Sorry, you’ll have to search that for yourself, I have been about wiped out by the sheer insane childishness and lack of honest discourse to remember which it was, but he was thrown down, like an a empty paper cup at some democrat rally!
Excellent essay. As I read your short from cruz it is obvious that he writes for a collegiate audience, which goes over the head of the main population. Also speaking a written debate cannot compare with from the heart conversational style of Trump. I notice Cruz eyes, they have the same look as the velopseraptor (SP sorry) in Jurassic park.
Ted Cruz is no Reagan, never was, he is but an actor playing the part of a conservative for a time until it is needed no more. True Constitutional conservatives are voting for Trump... and we love Reagan

Of course if was George Washington who inspired Reagan, so let's not leave him out either
