The Hollow Man (Rush Limbaugh, Cruz & Conservatism)
Hotgas.net ^ | March 13, 2016 | Joseph K

For 26 years, Rush Limbaugh has insisted that conservative values, clearly and passionately articulated, will win every time. By conservative values Rush meant: God, country, family, community, liberty, individualism, personal responsibility, limited government, and free markets. Reagan was the model, and the promise: it had happened once, and could happen again.

Easier said than done.

I just read the article, and it never said anything like what you just said.

"Trump may not have all of the bullet points in line, but the trust is there."

Maybe YOU didn't read the article, because that's EXACTLY what it says.

Flawlessly stated. Donald Trump is far from perfect, but he is what we need.

Cruzbots were the first to go for the mud.

I can say that with absolute certainty, since I was on the receiving end of the juvenile slurs back when I supported both Trump and Cruz.

I was supposed to hate Trump as much as they do.

Cruz lost support here all by his little lonesome.

I have never met an Ivy Leaguer that did not think he/she was very superior to us Flyover Folks. But it took a long contentious campaign to finally draw it out of Mr. Cruz.

Donald Trump went to an Ivy League school, as he himself has touted. It is why he has "all the best words."

Yep, that's what it says.

It also says why the other candidate blew it, and why he's undeserving in spite of originally having the bullet points in a row. That you don't understand how he betrayed his own supposed principles, and his supporters is a bit telling.

Perhaps you could address that.

A foolish essay aimed at a foolish audience.

He never said that conservatism doesn't matter, principle doesn't matter

"Had Cruz realized that conservatism is not a clearly articulated set of principles that must be imposed on a recalcitrant mass, but is instead the systematized expression of the yearning of individuals and peoples, as flawed and imperfect as they are, he might have been born aloft by the wave that is now carrying Donald Trump to the White House. Instead, blinded by ideology and self-regard, Cruz missed the wave, and is being left behind."

What the author is describing is populism, not conservatism. And that is the mob that you have signed onto so thoroughly that you don't even read it when it's been written on a page.

I don’t think they control Trump, so I’m not sure how they would have stopped Cruz otherwise.

In any case, Trump isn’t like Reagan. Nor is Cruz. I don’t think anyone could be in 2016, probably including Reagan. I think instant 24 hour mass media + a disengaged voting population makes it impossible.

Yep, that's what it says.

But you said that it didn't say that.

You may let el Supremo get away with saying one thing and then saying the diametric opposite a few days or hours later. But you won't get away with that with me.

HotGas is too ironic.

What is so disturbing is how many, particularly here, who are supposedly conservative are so easily willing to trash any and every conservative icon that six months ago they were each touting as the Good Guys, for the simple reason they disagree now on the value of Trump to America.

If FR survives this, it will be by some miracle.

If Trump said he didn't go to an Ivy League School for the purposes of a discussion, then he didn't go to one.

If, tomorrow, he says that he did go to an Ivy League School for the purposes of another discussion, then he did.

Words mean nothing more nor less than what TheDonald® says they mean right now.

Perhaps you could save it and read it after the returns are in after this Tuesday night. It might answer many of the questions you will likely have.

I really like that graphic.

I’d like to believe (so I do) that our beloved President Reagan would almost totally reject, if not totally renounce, this current GOP-E and everything it refuses to stand for!

President Reagan made a “good faith” agreement with the demonic-rats regarding “amnesty” which they immediately rejected and reneged upon, and here we are 30 years later!!!

POTUS Reagan was a man of his word. Demonic-rats have never been honest and that goes for the GOP-E as well!

Mr. TRUMP is representing WE the People!

Get on board or get left behind!

Your choice!
