GOP Governors Hold Emergency Conference Call to Discuss Trump
Political Wire ^ | By Taegan Goddard

Top Republicans — including governors who convened an emergency conference call on Monday on which Trump was Topic A — expect the real estate mogul to carry as many as 10 states on Tuesday night, an outcome that would deal a body blow to Sen. Ted Cruz, who has staked his campaign heavily on the Southern states holding nominating contests, and to Sen. Marco Rubio, who has yet to win a primary and isn’t expected to do so on Tuesday.”

“Trump’s march to the nomination has set off a wave of anxiety across the Republican Party establishment as top officials weigh whether to endorse him — or denounce him as anathema to the party’s values. Reflecting that angst, on Monday morning, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, the heads of the Republican Governors Association, convened fellow governors for an unusual conference call to discuss how the primary was unfolding — and Trump was a central topic of conversation.”

-——Gee, if only the GOP had worked this hard in 2008 and 2012, we might not have been stuck with Obama for 8 years

You can’t raise much money if you have a GOP POTUS, house and senate. Plus, you’d be expected to do some of the things you promised you would do.

The GOP does NOT want a republican president. It is not in their best interest.

Betcha they sent Christie’s meeting invitation via motor courier to be sure he didn’t get it on time... courier got stuck in traffic on the George Washington Bridge.

I bet there was at least a few ‘Pub governator types participating in the meeting that are sympatico with Trump. He certainly will know what went down in the meeting by the end of the day.

I've got it. I finally figured it out. I know exactly what Donald Trump is.

Donald Trump is Muad'Dib.

In Frank Herbert's Dune, the Spacing Guild and the Bene Gesserit and the Emperor have had a stranglehold on all humanity for ten thousand years. They basically hate each other but they've no choice but to cooperate to keep the status quo. Their system has grown stagnant and decadent. The Guild especially, it keeps looking for the "safe" way through things.

Then comes Paul Muad'Dib and he throws EVERYTHING into disarray. The Emperor and the Guild and the Bene Gesserit have to throw aside all their rivalries and unite to destroy Muad'Dib.

I'm not a Trump supporter and I never will be, but I most certainly do appreciate the role he is playing as the destroyer of stagnation.

The very reason that Trump is upsetting the GOPe so badly is all the more reason to vote for him.

The GOPe has thrown sh...er, sand, in our faces via lying, and backstabbing. They are the reason that Obama has been able to do so much damage to our country. Never have I seen so many cowards assembled in one city as DC.

Cruz and Rubio are not upsetting them, that should speak volumes to many voters.

Disgusting. They are more opposed to Trump than they were to Obama.

I almost feel for them, but the GOP does deserve Trump. He’s their creation so they just need to eat their peas.

Good luck with that.

Oh but My God! Reporters asked Trump every day about a racist Trump has nothing to do with and on day 3 out of 7 Trump didn’t give an answer quick enough and our hair is on fire!

Run, run republicans! The media are calling you racists! Dump your own candidate! Elect Hilary.

Illegal immigration forever! Die you racist whites!

More Muslims! we need to be a Muslim nation now!

Pretty much sums it up. National suicide.

The party is making sure to threaten all the governors that they’ll be cut off from the money and support if they endorse Trump. They’ll also be called FINISHED!

They can’t stop him politically...or, IMHO, through dirty politics. it just will not stick to him.

Numerous GOP governors are going to defect over to the Trumpster too.

Christie and LePage are just the first.

They can’t be that dumb.

I have come to the conclusion that we are the enemy.

They (Republican elite) despise us. Not the Democrats, not the Muslims, and not the Socialists. I think they didn’t believe we would figure it out and are now trying to put the genie back into the bottle. However, the more negative they go on Trump or Cruz, the madder the base is because it highlights how they never go negative on their fellow elitists(the Democrats).

They never reach out to us, just the Democrats, because we are the enemy.

Trump is the arrival of Caesarism in America.

Too many people are blinded like Rome was for their hatred of the elites to see that Trump is not going to save the Republic.

I hate the Potomac clique as much as anyone else here, but Trump is solving one problem with another.

Call me a cynic, that’s how I see it.

No matter what Trump said the media would have attacked him(And I agree he should have just said “The KKK can take their endorsement and shove it up their a@@”) still doubt that would have been the end of it..the GOP for whatever reason, does everything in their power to keep Democrats in power, which is why Trump gets so much support, people are sick of BOTH parties, except you will NEVER see the DNC kiss the GOP’s a@@ they hate them too much, but you see our side kissing their rear ends constantly

After today, where are THEY going to get money and support to give out?
