Senior U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia found dead at West Texas ranch

Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.

Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.

"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

See what happened to Breitbart’s examiner and consider what sort of pressure a coroner for Scalia would have if a fictional outcome is desired..

Look back through the thread.

IIRC, a tie sends the case back to the last court to have heard it.

I suspect the first thing that happens when they first take office is they're shown their NSA file and told that they have to play along if they don't want to be ruined.

I think you hit that nail on the head. They all seem compromised as soon as they get to DC.

To get along, you go along. Everybody makes money. Everybody gets fame. Don't rock the boat.

This is what the Founders sacrificed so much for.

You are out of your mind. No appointee that Obama would agree on has any business on the Supreme Court.

>> Everything I’ve read said that a recess appointment is not possible for SCOTUS <<

I think you’re wrong. Please cite chapter and verse.

And by the way, Prez Bush successfully made a recess appointment for Judge Charles Pickering, who then served for a year or so on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Therefore, precedent shows that the Judicial Branch of the federal government is subject to the same constitutional provisions on recess appointments as is the executive branch. The constitution doesn’t differentiate between the two branches.

Moreover, any attempt by statute to carve out a special status on recess appointments for the SCOTUS would surely be struck down as extra-constitutional.

Oh yes....if a Republican were in the White House the dems would be screaming about the need to wait until the election before a new judge was appointed.

The question he asked is legitimate, but it needs to be to each candidate. Only specifying Trump is inappropriate.

I am a Cruz supporter who isn’t feeling much love for the Donald. This issue is the acid test for each candidate, not just Trump.

What happens if there is a deadlocked case?

I did a little research, and this is not confirmed, but when this happens the SCOTUS issues what is called a per curiam decison, which basically upholds lower court rulings.

I was thinking of skipping the debate tonight, not now. I want to hear every candidates’ thoughts on this. This is a clear test. Any candidate who even hints at letting Obama get a nominee on the court is disqualified in my eyes.

We know what they all will say, I will choose conservative court blah blah blah. It's a GIVEN. But I put my money on Cruz to actually do it. He has stuck his neck and reputation on the line again and again over judges appointments. he has stood tall, to the point of alienating himself with his OWN party. I pray our REPUBLICAN senate will do its' job. But I don't hold out hope.

"I think Obama wants to get out of town and climb on the gravy train. There are people who think Obama wants to remain President or go to the Supreme Court. I think the opposite."

Rarely do I agree with anyone twice in one day, but I concur. He has fondest memories of Hawaii and has notably been proven to be fond of creature comforts (golf, vacations, good food, warmer climates).

Nah...they would rather touch their toes....just like they did for AG Lynch.

Even money says he appoints Hillary.

I’m referring to Baldwin’s saying “No, there will be no appointments until the next President.

Oh STFU you Trump-hating troll. Scalia isn’t even in the grave and you’re trying to score political points jumping up and down on his body?

You are a disgrace.

True, but it will take a President and Congress that are both committed to Constitutional governance. We ain’t there right now.

And anyone who was planning on not voting for POTUS if their guy did not win, will vote for our nominee now. Better.

Do you know that? Children are usually of purer faith because of parents. It is an interesting point though. Hadn’t heard it before but there is no proof she didn’t. The girl who was raised from the dead, too, we don’t know if she had faith but she was obedient to Him.

Thank you for this, I’m going to ask Him!
