And it is impossible to use the word charity and wrench it out of what you call “religion.” It is the term that some older versions of the bible use for the kind of love that is uniquely exercised by God, corresponding to the Greek agape.

And like the songwriter said, you have to serve someone. There is no such thing as an atomized freedom.

And you are going to get some kind of baksheesh even from attempts to be independent. The question is not whether you will serve. Man was made to serve and can’t not serve any more than birds can’t not fly. The question is what you will serve.

A seemingly parallel case that involved an Italian chap named Bellei showed that if a man’s citizenship status was granted by an act of Congress effective as of his birth, it could be un-granted by another act of Congress. They can’t name names, to be true, but they can specify classes of people.

Now if I read things right, Cruz did have the additional circumstance of being born on a US Air Force base in Canada. That might change how a court reads it. Maybe a military installation would have some pull in the matter, so to speak.

It’s currently up in the air because we have no authority in the sky as to NBC. It really is a matter of what Caesar’s courts do.

Sorry bray. I’ve made dozens of positive comments about Trump. When the Trump supporters start out a post with “Cruzbots” and you yourself call Cruz supporters “thugs”, reasoned discourse is no longer possible. But you’re fine with the bullshit namecalling—as long as it’s not directed at the sainted Trump. You want to have a Saturday morning circle-jerk with your Friends of Trump? Have at it. And take me off your stupid weekly essay ping list. Your musings aren’t nearly as clever as you think they are.

What exactly has Trump said that is a dealbreaker for you?

Thanks for asking. I was actually on the fence about Trump for several months. You can check my posts to confirm. I was willing to forgive his past praise and support of Democrats because I thought that might have been an expediency to support his business ventures. I thought maybe he had turned the corner and his true conservative nature was coming out. I liked what he was saying about immigration, but a lot of conservatives have been saying the same thing, for a lot longer time than Trump. I thought Trump and Cruz had worked a deal where they wold fight together for the same things.

The deal breaker for me was the single weekend when Trump came out strong against Cruz and Scalia, using the leftist angle each time. This is when Cruz was leading the polls for the first time. It became clear that Trump was not an idealouge for smaller government and more individual freedom. At best he is a moderate, to the left of McCain and Romney. At worst, he is an opportunist who will do and say anything to win.

Then he came out for more NSA snooping ("I'm going to err on the side of safety") and for Kelo (Eminent Domain for crony capitalists, passed by the liberals in the Supreme Court), and in defense of McConnell, I knew I would never be able to support this man.

I would like to debate these issues with fellow conservatives without the name calling and the attempts at personal destruction. Ted Cruz is a good man who is fighting for the things I believe in. When Trump supporters resort to petty attacks on Cruz's name, appearance, wife, children, and Christian faith, I'm going to push back every time. Even if Trumps wins the presidency, I don't think he sees Cruz as a potential ally in the senate. That has me worried - a lot.

IMHO, Trump and Cruz have already made a deal.

OMG! All this over my byline?

It is, what it is. I’ll not change it for you, or anyone else.

Get over it.

Trump has the troublesome tendency to throw gratuitous mud, as you found out. And he should stop that, because otherwise people won’t know what he really opposes and what he’s just angry at today. It wasn’t for no reason that the studiedly equanimous George Washington was named the first president — he’d not jerk you around with his moods.

However sometimes we have to go with something that isn’t ideal, making allowances and reading between the lines, because something better is not at hand. I am cautiously sanguine about Trump, because I’ve seen him come down from his storms time and time again. Perhaps with some further experience he will learn to avoid carrying on that way, as even now he has announced that he is going to switch to positive ads. You’re surely not the other one who has been frightened by the Trump cannon when it seemed to have little or no reason to shoot, and Trump has surely heard about it.

Oh you can keep it the same but you cannot escape the consequences that God brings of espousing willful confusion.

I merely serve to warn.

Have a day in which you learn something.

Good luck reasoning with the TRUMPBOTS. You’ll now be labeled a thug and told to “take a hike.” No discourse allowed, only mutual agreement on how awesome The Donald is may be spoken on this thread. My final post on the stupid bray threads.

At least he isn’t a woos. I can’t stand mamby pamby men like Obama and Cruz. We don’t need them. Trump is Alpha Male and will say what he believes no matter who he offends. That is who we need as President at this time. Maybe after Trump completely overhauls the United States, a weak president like Cruz could be afforded.

Frankly you need to look at the bible too, to find out what the biggest issues are.

Sometimes the left does have valid points of view. Because the plan of God for mankind transcends the political.

Sometimes we have specialized in becoming selfish without a good explanation for it. Lacking a good explanation, some people with larger goals in mind are not going to be convinced.

The argument I would raise to someone like Trump about pan-snooping is that historically quite often the information DOES end up being leaked. If it were securely Trump’s information from now to eternity, that would be one matter. But hackers can make it everybody’s information. So, Trump should not snoop on anything he isn’t willing also to jealously guard.

I should have posted my thoughts before I read the distracting comments on this thread.

I’ll try tomorrow!

Cruz is my first choice. He is on the right side of almost every issue and has been his entire life. He has proven that he is willing to fight when no one else will. He is exactly the guy we always said we wanted. To not support him now is to walk back everything we ever said.

Trump is my second choice. He is not a conservative, probably not a Christian, he has been all over the map on almost every issue of importance only finding his conservative principles when he decided to run for office. On those issues he doesn’t care about, he will sell us out down the road, and I think most people recognize that and have factored it in to the total picture.

The total picture is that the number one issue for most people these days is national sovereignty, and they sense that on that issue, if only on that issue, Trump is absolutely firm. He has made that the hill he fights and dies on, and has taken enough flak to let people know he isn’t going to back away.

At a time when our manufacturing is being shipped out of the country, our workers are being replaced in the millions by foreign and often illegal workers, at a time when they are trying to bring jihadists in again by the millions, Trump and Cruz are the only ones running who are absolutely firm on the border, on immigration, and on trade. When Trump said he would send back any Syrians Obama decides to let in, that got my attention; most candidates aside from Trump and Cruz have made it plain that they will not roll back anything Obama has done.

Its sad that Trump mostly argues from ad hominem; it works against enemies who will never vote for you. It doesn’t work when you are throwing mud at people whose support you will want later. Despite all that, he remains my second choice after Cruz. I don’t have a third choice.

Trumpbots, how clever. Did you think that one up yourself.

My post did not have one talking point so I am not going to tolerate after I asked not to start a food fight the Cruz thug tactics. I am fine with discussion, but not idiotic name calling from people who simply want to pound their chests.

I did not slight Cruz in the least and expect the same from you. Good bye you have been removed.
