Heidi Cruz said Wednesday that her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), was showing America "the face of the God that we serve" through his faith-based Republican presidential campaign.
It would be better if she said she DESIRED or PURPOSED to show this face. Not even the best mannered Christian completely succeeds in doing so, because it is such an awesome face. To actually see it would cause the lame to walk, etc.
Like you suggest, it’s not right to suggest you’re already there.
Seriously, how could you not tremble?
I never claim my stuff though my church makes you fill out all kinds of financial stuff. There are a lot of Christians who don't claim their tithes or other giving. I think that is a heartfelt and good sign.
Text doesn’t show everything and yes I’d like to see deeper into her manner as she said that.
It isn’t said flippantly. To show the benevolent face of God means also to suffer like Christ suffered, for the sake of healing and forgiving.
Her problem might be not even that she’s out of her element, but that she doesn’t seem to be trying to be in it.
I’ve just BEGUN to try it myself, and it is very easy to get behind a raft of eight balls in doing so. Satan does not yield easily. The grace of God must be sought and it must be shared.

I can only imagine if Ted Cruz had posted something from Right Wing Watch and used the excuse..."I really didn't know-I just took the article from Google". You and others would be calling him a liar up and down.

If it’s because they believe it right, that is fine.
But there’s nothing in the bible that orders things be done in this manner. It is the purpose and manner that matters to the Lord. Caesar isn’t going to be telling on you if you don’t want him to, at least in our present system, nor is anything gained to your own glory.
Tithe and other donations are different.
I would claim other donations as those are NOT part of my tithe.
If I’m donating to the Boy Scouts or some other organization, certainly would claim the deduction.
My tithe though: no way.
Your apology was beyond gracious. Not to worry about the poster. He’s a good egg—doesn’t take things too seriously, and would never hold a grudge. As the British say, you’re home and dry.

Didn't ring any alarm bells, but then I'm not looking for evil behind every bush and tree. Well, maybe behind every bush... :) The most important thing I did was square the quote with the audio. It was exact. calm down.
You should not do anything that you are not assured in faith is not sin.
But some go by the tithe system and still use the Caesar deduction and that doesn’t make them out of the will of God since they come from the standpoint that Caesar is confidential and no glory comes to them personally thereby (the point of Jesus’ admonition, just like we don’t have to literally go into a closet for every prayer we pray).
The text I’ve read was very long, and seemingly complete.
No matter, you’d never catch me referring to myself or my family that way.
No matter how much nuance there might be, I would tremble trying to compare myself to God, or to say that I was so much like him that people would see his face in me or my family.
I’ve said many, many, times that Cruz is lacking in wisdom.
Lately he’s taken to proving that correct every few days.
And, that isn’t the government’s money. It’s the government’s forbearance with respect to your money when channeled in a certain fashion.
I believe we could say that we HOPED that we would show the face of God.

Cruz said in an interview with South Carolina radio host Vince Coakley that she would support her husband's campaign even if she weren't married to him because of his religious values.

In context, she called her husband's campaign and his religious values as their opportunity to "be in this race to show the face of God ..."
Of course it doesn’t.
However, Cruz’s lack of a deduction on his taxes is hardly a reliable indicator of what the man actually tithes.
It’s a strawmans argument. There is not enough data to conclusively or reliably determine if he is or is not being charitable.
So why say such nonsense. It also does not change the fact that the man is a rock solid defender of Christian values and the constitution.
Except the “Good News” was preached to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob & the Israelites in the wilderness, so do you want to try again with another scenario?
What Christian values? Looks shallow and I don’t even count his donations. Even Jimmy Carter worked on Habitat for Humanity.
