U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is bolstering his home-field advantage with fewer than three weeks until the Texas primary, unveiling a raft of new endorsements from lawmakers in Austin and detailing his organization across the state for the March 1 nominating contest.

Cruz's presidential campaign is set to announce Thursday that he now has the support of nearly half the Republicans in the Texas Legislature: 11 senators and 43 representatives. The newly expanded Texas Leadership Team also includes 57 chairs and co-chairs covering Texas' 36 congressional districts, as well as 462 chairs and co-chairs across the state's 254 counties.

"Conservatives in Texas have coalesced behind our campaign..

Houston, Dallas, Austin, all liberal cities. Holier than thou Texas.

A gay mayor for Houston. Texas values. Gak.

Full disclosure:

Ted was originally my guy. I donated four times to his presidential campaign, and only stopped when he voted for TPA. In addition, I voted for Ted for U.S. Senate, in the primary, the run-off, and the general elections in Texas.

Why won’t I vote for Ted?

TPA
Corker bill
H1-B visas
“Poison Pill” amendment tickery
Teddy bears and soccer balls for illegals
Glenn Beck already swore him in as President
Married to Goldman Sachs
Robert Mercer
Homo megadonors
“NY values”
Me too!
Canadian born (not NBC)
Career gov’t employee
Freshman Senator, wet behind the ears
Preachy, not natural (a personal turn-off)

I soured on Ted for all of the bullet points above.

When Trump came on the scene, he came out of the gate saying the exact things I needed to hear from a candidate. Even still, it took me a few weeks of studying the man, to give him my support for president. I’m comfortable with that choice, and have no expectations of changing it.

You donated four times? How in the world did you get off the fundraising email lists?

I've heard one-time donors complain that the barrage of begging is constant.

Yeah, the barrage was pretty heavy, but all I did was click on the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of one of the emails. Presto...no more emails.

I have no idea how I got so lucky.

I guess we will have to win without you.

You really should ask yourself why you are allowing yourself to believe Trump’s campaign promises when he has no record to back them up.

No candidate is perfect, but with Cruz I have his 97%-100% conservative/pro-liberty voting record to rely on.

With Trump, up until very recently, his lifetime political record and donation history run in the opposite direction of what he is saying now.

What makes you so sure you can trust Donald Trump to honor his campaign promises?

We are not talking a out someone running for a local election here, we are talking about the highest, most powerful office on the planet.

I like Cruz too....but he won’t deport the illegals....Trump is the only one who says he will deport them and doubles down on it every chance he gets. Never double talks about it.

Cruz is all about the border and work permits and blah blah...he is from Texas and in Texas they are very afraid of offending the Texmex.

I also suggest you read the following as it clears up a lot of lies being circulated about Ted Cruz by the Conservative Tree House, the Marshall Report, and others.

I gave you a list of things Ted has actually done, that clearly cut across the grain of American conservatism, and you quote back a score to convince me otherwise?

Just what does he have to do, to convince you that he's not all he's cracked up to be?

The man's got warts, just like they all do, including my guy - Trump.

In Ted's case, perhaps he's been sold for so long as the "perfect" conservative, I couldn't bring myself to forgive him for his egregious failures to live up to expectations.

On that point, if his supporters didn't continue pushing the "perfect" meme, perhaps those who are still on the fence might join you.

As to why I trust Trump more than Cruz, I guess you could say it's more than just words and deeds, although there's a lot that Trump has accomplished in his life that makes me trust him more than a career government employee.

The man has built things in the real world. He's been in command of a multi-billion dollar enterprise for decades, and has successfully managed it in a profitable way. Along the way, he's provided good jobs for thousands of people, and through his business deals and partnerships, has helped a great many people become wealthy themselves.

He's also an author of many best-selling books on finance and the art of business. He's also written a few books about politics and the American society. I've read excerpts from some of them, and they're very impressive.

Trump has been a leader who has to make correct decisions for a long long time now. At his level of the game, you can't afford to get big things wrong, or thousands and thousands of people can be badly hurt. Trump has never done that. He has a natural gift for sizing up a situation and seeing it like a chess game in his mind. He then makes the appropriate moves to advance his and his people's interests and success.

Because of this, and too many other things I can't get into in this short post, he is the natural choice to be our nation's next Commander in Chief. There is NO one else running for the office at this time, who is so gifted with natural leadership skills, or who has a tenth of his experience in actually being the chief executive at such high levels.

Forget the bombast. That's not important. What's important, is that we MUST have someone with the instincts and attitude of a General Patton, to make it through the next four years. Only Trump fits that description, and it why he has my vote.

Thank you, but I've already done my due diligence on the candidates, and have chosen Trump.

I don't dislike Ted. He's my Senator, and he's a far sight better than the establishment goon who's his senior. But - he doesn't have the skill set that's needed in our next president - I don't care what sort of marks he gets on the ideological purity test. That's just not going to save this country in this time and place.

We literally need someone who's got the mindset and the bearing of a wartime Commanding General. We need an Attila. A U.S. Grant. A Pershing. A Patton.

Trump is the only one running who fits the bill.

Ain't that the thruth.

I'll never forget. It was the debate before last, and Cruz and Rubio were going toe to toe on the question of amnesty. They fought back and forth for what seemed like five minutes. Rubio kept twisting Cruz's arm, but he wouldn't come out with a straight answer. Just when I thought someone was gonna throw a punch, Cruz finally says he's not in favor of amnesty for illegals.

The moderator then turns to Trump and asks him the same question about illegals and amnesty and he replies with four simple words: "They've got to go."

In that moment, any fool could see the difference between Cruz and Trump on the biggest, most critical issue of our time.

Why don’t you go to his voting record and see how many you agree vs. disagree with. I went through about four long pages of vote summaries and I found myself agreeing with just about every vote. Even if you ding him for TPA (which he ultimately voted no on) and Corker, and the H1b visas (which he has backed off on) he still stands heads and shoulders above every other senator (save Mike Lee) in terms of his conservative record.

Go through Ted’s voting record yourself and you will find his 97%-100% conservative voting record with CR and other vote rating sites is not manufactured, it’s deserved.

You are not going to like this, but, it was a Texas case that brought forth a constitutional right for pervert marriage....

True and guess which top Texas state attorney decided not to pick up that case and fight it in the Supreme Court. Yup Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz could have stopped the homo agenda in it's tracts but he took a pass instead and left it Harris county to fight the gays rights lawyers. And Oh Harris county pegged Cruz to take the case. Thanks a lot Ted Cruz.

The ugly truth is there are as many perverts in the GOP as there are in liberalville.

Funny thing when he tried to appear all ‘religious’ and ‘holy’, bashing New York values... He creeps into New York, parties with the perverts, collects his dues, and slips out of town.

I'm not knocking the 97% of votes that Ted got right. It's the 3% that he got wrong. Those 3% weren't just bad, they were game changers, in that they gave the establishment exactly what they needed to push through larger initiatives that have the potential to ultimately undo this nation.

It really doesn't matter if a guy votes the way you want nearly all the time, if he turns around and votes for the one thing that will destroy you.

But - like I've repeatedly said in other posts tonight - it's not about Ted's percentage of ideological purity as a conservative. Yes, that does count for something, but it pales to insignificance in the face of the threats that are looming at this time.

It's going to take real courage and ferocity to push through a real handling on the illegal immigration problem. The next President has to be willing to withstand unprecedented pressures from the left, to get our laws enforced, and to push out all the illegals over the next four years.

That's going to take willpower and guts - something that Ted has never been in a position to demonstrate. I simply have to take him at his word that he's got the sort of toughness to execute his immigration plan and the laws of this country against monumental push-back.

Not so with Trump - who has demonstrated such backbone through most of his life. I mean, the man is famous for it - and he is the only one who is convincing when he says he's going to build the wall. I, and millions of other Americans simply do not trust that the other guys are going to get the job done - and if they don't, our country is GONE.

Yeah...and I love when politicians say “I’M NOT IN FAVOR OF”....

Well hell I’m not in favor of paying taxes, going the speed limit and tolerating the scum sucking closet homo communist in the White House either....it don’t mean a damn thing.

Trump is gonna let them send hundreds of millions in South Carolina and then still win the State big and come out with 40 of the 50 delegates ANYWAY.

Go Trump, Warts and all.
