The Weekly Standard ^ | Bill Kristol

I've just heard from a political operative whom I've known a long time and whose integrity I trust. This person is working with an organization—not one of the campaigns—that was in the field (using a very reputable pollster) Wednesday night in South Carolina.

Here's what the pollster found:

A poll that makes you happy is accurate.
A poll that makes you sad is junk.

These are the people who told us four years ago that Romney would win in a walk.

They have ZERO credibility and it’s a colossal waste of time to listen to them for even a minute.

You trust focus groups as a prediction of an outcome? I’ve arranged many focus groups and they are hand picked according to criteria and how they answer questions. Only those who meet the survey questions are chosen. Don’t be taken in by these things. They also get paid for being in a group.

Yep, sure did. And at least half of them are not being truthful because they don’t wants to be non PC on TV. They’re voting for Trump.

No kidding. The writer says..

"Take it with the usual grains of salt, but I do trust these were the actual results of an honest and competent pollster doing his best to get an accurate read on the situation."

Yep, and what they don’t realize is that they throw in with the Hollywood ilks, the MSM, the Democrats, and the GOPe. How naive they are.

Betting odds have a $1.00 bet on Trump paying $1.20.

A $1.00 bet on Cruz pays $4.50.

I tend to trust the opinions of those who have money at risk than those who just have an opinion.

I could eat crow, but I really think writing Jeb’s epitaph is a bit premature... I don’t like the guys policies at all and I won’t vote for him under any circumstances... but I really don’t think Rubio can recover from the self inflicted head wound he gave himself last debate.

Jeb isn’t a well oiled machine yet, but he certainly seems to have turned a corner and regained his footing. HE was out of politics for a while, he clearly had ring rust on, and hadn’t adapted to the times, and then was punched hard by Trump out of the gate, but I really would not write him off as dead yet.

Rubio’s debate debacle is far worse in my mind than anything Jeb has done on the campaign trail to date in terms of harming their overall odds.

Time will tell.

Anyone who doesn’t think the economy will be the number one issue is living in their backyard growing tomato plants.

Right now we are down again over 300 points. I had already bought gold ETFs/ETNs before Christmas knowing this is coming, as well as straight up corn and wheat ETFs just last week, to stash cash - now gold is up like over $50 dollars ($58 right now) in one day, China was already buying gold, corn and wheat up, I actually made money today with a 300- bear drop in the DOW today, for example one gold mining stock which I bought at .62 cents per share (south african gold mine) is right now $2.75 dollars per share and I have THOUSANDS of shares. But lots are getting killed and big layoffs coming especially in Texas and Dakotas due to oil which is now down under 30 dollars per barrel and expected to go 24, oil companies - big ones - all dropping credit rating by Standard and Poors to AA-, BBB or worse (this is bad, not good) and Obama wants a $10 per barrel tax on oil because he is out and out trying to destroy the US domestic oil companies, this will be the straw on the camel’s back that will tank the entire US economy, and if Yellen raises interest rates two more times we are going to go into more than a recession, it is going to be bad.

As the economy tanks, Trump will rise. Because he is seen as the guy to turn the economy around. I am voting Trump for this very reason, and don’t tell me about some stupid bankruptcy propaganda you can take those stupid talking points and stick it where the sun don’t shine, Trump is going to be the go to guy to turn this around and folks are going to vote for him because of (1) economy, stupid, (2) illegal immigration, and (3) the refugees and Islamic terrorism issue.

The economy will be the issue.

Your logic is flawed my friend... your just telling yourself a story, and looking for any external validation.

Its just like the two hippies who after learning McGovern had lost to Nixon in a 49 state landslide, they looked at each other and said, how can that be? we don’t know anyone who voted for him.

Like you those two hippies never talked to the right people, just because you saw a focus group without a Trump supporter in it, doesn’t mean that it was representative of the electorate.

We will know shortly who will be the victor in SC, right now, I personally see zero indication that Cruz will be in the winners circle. He’ll certainly do better than he did in NH, but not seeing anything to convince me he’s going to overcome a 16 or more point deficit in the next 8 or 9 days to win the state.
