Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

Who defines what conservatism is? We have a GOP-controlled Congress populated by politicians who call themselves conservatives. They haven't stopped Obama's agenda. In fact they give him everything he wants.

The GOP "conservatives" play us for suckers. They toss around words like the Constitution and the Rule of Law and fiscal responsibility while doing the bidding of their corporate paymasters and special interests.

Cruz wanted to increase H-1B visas 500%. He has flip-flopped on immigration and other issues. His donors include Goldman-Sachs and the Club for Growth along with a billionaire hedge fund sugar daddy. Not one senator has endorsed Cruz. Is he the only conservative in the Senate?

Conservatism is dying as the demographics of this country change rapidly. Mass immigration is killing conservatism.

While I too believe it will be a choice between Cruz and Trump, I am not convinced Cruz has sewn that up yet.

I believe when Rubio or Bush drops out the other will cruise right by Cruz and leave him in the dust...Bush says he's going to be there til the end...And if the Bush's run out of money, they'll tap into Saudi Arabia...

“Cruz warned the Republican Party that he’s the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump”

So, in other words, Cruz seems to be pandering to the GOPe to support him because Cruz is the lesser of two evils to the GOPe compared to Trump.

Lovely.

Every day I see more and more reasons that reinforce my choice of Trump over Cruz.

Show me ANY sort of proof where Trump has crossover appeal?

TV ratings.

Yeah, I know you'll come up with some reason to discount it, but that's okay. You'll find out soon enough....

How did that law get passed without any support, exactly?

And you think the establishment that can block Cruz cannot block Trump?

“Cruz is a true conservative”

God save me from “true conservatives”. What in the hell have they done for us in the last 20 years?

Oh yeah, right. Now I remember. The “true conservatives” are the ones who stood up to Obama and stopped his agenda by passing a budget that eviscerated his illegal immigration policies, eliminated the energy-destroying EPA, eliminated the Marxist propaganda Education Department, eliminated the job-destroying Labor Department, eliminated the racist Civil Rights Commission, defunded the FCC until they give back control of the Internet to private industry, defunded Obamacare, defunded enforcement of 99% of Obama’s regulations and Executive Orders.

Trumpeteer, you can talk that nonsense in an open primary in an Obama blue state, but a week from Saturday followed by Super Tuesday we’ll Cruz to a bigger victory than Iowa. We have a proven conservative. You have a registered Democrat that contributed to Democrats..a candidate that seemed quite cozy with the Clintons at his wedding and donated office space to Jesse Jackson. He’s expressed quite liberal positions up until 2015 when he stole a page or two from Pat Buchanan. You can have Mr.Art of the Deal who’s malleable while I’ll take the guy Carter thinks believes all that crazy conservative stuff.

Can’t argue against any of that. That could be very true about the one falling out and the other zooming past Cruz.

Give the guy another six or eight years in the Senate to make a real name for himself, and up his popularity quotient, then maybe.

He’s not ready yet IMO. Frankly, I don’t thing he ever will be. He’s not a real people person. He struggles at it, but it’s not natural for him.

Come on everyone. No matter how they won or how big they won.

Cruz won 1, Trump won 1.

The odds extremely high that one of these two candidate will win the nomination. Unless the GOPe appoints someone else at the convention.

BOTH Cruz or Trump is a huge Step above what we have had for the last 8 years or so.

Yea yea the both got Negatives in their character but you really think we gonna find someone perfect to run.

It’s tied it wins, but it’s not tied in delegates. The delegate #s is what matters.
