Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

Cruz: “And when Trump wins the Republican race for the presidency, I’ll be happy to be his VP.” :)

you could be right. but for Trump to be getting a sizeable dem vote, he must be leading by 7 or more, i would think.

I dont see that anywhere.

We need to count on reubs and independents. Dems are pro abortion and pro free stuff before anything.

Reagan was a conservative who couldn’t get election either. Only he did.

The “can’t get elected” claim is put out by other campaigns as a pressure tactic to get conservatives to vote against their own interests in the primary. That’s just like the GOPe does. They sell out before vote is taken because, after all, they “can’t win.”

Cruz can win better than Trump can. Cruz is a true conservative and Trump is a generalizing with superlatives flip-flopper.

Cruz lost the conservative vote to Trump in New Hampshire. Cruz's numbers for independents and moderates were pathetic as well. All his strength came from "very conservative" voters, which he still lost to Trump.

Cruz has no appeal outside of that group.

that’s a lot of words but not one poll :)

send me the one where Trump is up by 5, 6 or 7 over hillary which, if he were getting part of the dem vote, which people say, he would easily be up.

The general public wasn’t going to go for Reagan either. But Reagan spoke boldly about conservative principles, expose the lies of the far left, and won by a landslide.

Hmmmm....one candidate is a successful businessman who has employed THOUSANDS, all across the world.

The other is an opportunist who must use dirty tricks to get out the vote, is a junior Senator with NO business experience, has lived off of the government for 99% of his entire career and is amnesty PAC owned.

Who to choose, America?

Believe it if you want ... if Trump gets the nom , he will destroy whoever he goes up against ... Cruz will get the Palin treatment , but only worse ...Cruz can’t manipulate the media like Trump can

Well they’re both Ivy Leaguers...

But Cruz is a lawyer...

So if I HAVE to pick, I guess it’s Trump, reluctantly...

RCP poll just release this afternoon Trump up 16% over Cruz

But worse than that it does not factor in the bump for Trump from the 20% win in NH and Cruz finish tied for 3rd.

Also, Rubio and Jeb will spend so much in the next 9 days this may be Cruz’s high poll mark.

Rubio is already up slamming Ted on his Iowa tactics.

Who know what Doc Carson will say, but it keeps Cruz sleaze alive and some Evangelicals will change their mind about Cruz.

You were mistaken. If you are born as a U.S. citizen, you are eligible to be elected President once you are 35 years old and have spent 14 years living in the U.S.

In Ark v United States, the Supreme Court states that the U.S. Constitution recognizes two, and only two (<— The words in the decision) forms of citizenship: citizenship by naturalization and citizenship by birth.

There is no magic third form of citizenship. Who says? The Supreme Court.

Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump

That sounds like he wants the GOPe to back him. That also clearly defines Trump as a true outsider.

Cruz’s New Hampshire primary results tracked about the same as Huckabee and Santorum’s within one or two points after they won Iowa.
