Cruz's father: 'Check the fruit' before voting
WND ^ | 2/7/2016 | PAUL BREMMER

Posted on 02/07/2016 6:23:23 PM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Rafael Cruz, the father of GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, is warning Americans to do some serious fruit-checking before they vote this election season.

"There are many campaign conservatives - people that will tell you what you want to hear," Cruz said during a recent interview on the Jesse Lee Peterson Show. "What I recommend is stop listening to the rhetoric, look at their record. Stop listening to what they say. Look at what they've done and what they do.

"Jesus put it this way: 'You shall know them by their fruits.' Check the fruit."

Cruz believes if voters examine the fruits his son Ted has borne, they will see they can trust him. He noted Ted has been at the forefront of many battles, such as the fight to repeal Obamacare, the fight to preserve the Second Amendment, and the fight for the right to life.

Jesse Lee Peterson, the host, told Rafael how much he values Ted's principled stands in the Senate.

"I think most Americans appreciate the way he stood up to the RINO Republicans and others who would not deal with Barack Obama the proper way, just allowing him to do whatever he wants," said Peterson, a WND columnist and author of "The Antidote." "For me, that stood out like nothing else. I do appreciate that."

The elder Cruz, who authored the new book "A Time for Action: Empowering the Faithful to Reclaim America," replied that's the very reason so many Washington insiders dislike Ted, because he exposes the establishment.

Why isn’t Cruz praising God in New Hampshire. He sure did in Iowa but is afraid of God in New Hampshire. Could it be that he only uses God when it is politically expedient and really doesn’t believe in God at all?

"Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. - John 15

New Hampshire might not bear fruit. That is just the way of it. It might be ready for being cut off.

May you live by higher standards.Obviously you have never done something as evil as having had an underling make a mistake or you would have publicly quit your job in shame.

Like stealing a pen from work. Or cutting in line. Or slandering somepne for political gain.

If you have not begged for forgiveness yet from God, you might want to do so because without Christ’s sacrifice to cover your sins you will be judged by your own standards.

I can judge them because believers are called to judge the works and words of those who claim to be believers. It is logically and biblically sound. Do you need bible verses?

Maybe after this election is over we can swap deliverance stories.

Many who run for POTUS believe and act like they are annointed. Romney met with his cult leader prophet more than once (actually met with 2 different ones - Hinkley and his sucessor Monson). It is beyond odd, it is out of context - the helmet of salvation has nothing to do with US poltics. My gripe is using bible verses out of context (in any situation but esp when it comes to getting votes. Sadly, most Americans (even the ‘churched’) are biblically illiterate and take things like “by their fruits” at face value they are told they mean. That is manipulation in the name of God and as a deprogrammer something I fight every day.

Its not strange at all - this thread is about Cruz’s words - not Trump. Not everything has to be about Trump. And I see many of the same things from the Cruz camp so its not just Trump supporters at all. I also have seen it with Carson supporters, Perry supporters last cycle, Jeb supporters, etc. Politics in general is cult like and draws charismatic personalities.

Start with Vs 15 to 20 the context of by their fruits is ONLY about prophets. You posted context for “judge not” which is broader. THere are several sections between what you posted and where “by their fruits” appears covering many aspects. My statement stands Jesus is ONLY talking about prophets in this section>

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

I didn’t cut off at 15, I started there. The sermon is divided into sections (as I pointed out above) and “by their fruits” is ONLY talking about true and false prophets. Cruz Never mentions the test for a prophet, but quotes Jesus about prophets and applies to political figure (and Jesus avoided politics). Its not mislabeling it is misuse of the Word of God.

I am not the one in error or illogical you are “FReind”

Wow now you are taking a page from Cruz and misusing Scripture. Check the context of John 15, it would never apply to a political race.

Have you ever read Screwtape letters? Wormwood would love you Lowoil.

God told Ted Cruz to run for president. It shows God has a sense of humor.

Please explain to me how you feel called to stand in condemnation against Ted for an error of his staff he apologized for, yet simply ignore adultery, bragging about fornication, casinos, strip clubs and pugnaciousness of Donald by saying you are judging righteous judgment?

Seems beyond expedient to me. Something other than “righteous judgment is going on. It kinda looks like your claim that you felt required to judge Ted for what his father said was a load of self justification while you are mired in your obvious affinity for Trump. The only scriptures I found that indicated that you should judge a brothers actions said to have nothing to do with men like Trump that claim to be brothers! So very strange to me this Trump derangement effect.

Where is Ted Cruz's mother ?

Maybe she is a Biblical wife who wants to stay out of any frays and keep her life private from those who are oh-so-quick to judge on the slightest thought/rumor/wish/fantasy.....

So you contend that Rafael Cruz Sr was not a Christian when he divorced his son’s mother (his second wife) ?

And speaking of the Apostle to the Gentiles, do you contend he made his living by starting companies to sell religion ?

Yes, it was their second divorce. His name is Rafael. Why does he use Ted ? Rafael is a better name.

Let think about this for a bit. Lying on caucus night vs stealing a pen, cutting in line, or “slandering” someone. Hmmmm. Come on! The lying on caucus night was NOT a “mistake”. It isn’t the first time Jeff Roe has lied about someone dropping out, so we know it was deliberate.

Eckersley calls e-mail a hoax, says he’s still in the race (AUDIO)
“You know this is dirty politics. This is Jeff Roe-style management. That’s who Billy’s retained. That’s who he writes the big checks to,” Eckersley tells Missourinet affiliate KTTS. “This is Kansas City management doing what they do best, which is playing dirty.”

Yes, I have read off and on sections of C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters. A cheap red cover paperback copy lies in the “library” right now (with an old H.S. classmate photo as a marker for some reason). I pick it up as the mood takes me.

A pastor (Bob) I occasionally read made a short from the characters as Lewis did. It’s theme was on those that suggest only they get to judge (sound familiar)? I copied it below for American in Israel to digest. I tried to take out the funky font lettering.

__________________________________________________

Borrowing characters from C. S. Lewis, imagine this dialogue between a junior demon named Wormwood and his wicked uncle Screwtape. This fiendish exchange could have occurred a century ago:

Wormwood: Believers have so many weapons at their disposal. It is difficult to neutralize them. It takes a huge effort just to slow the work of a single Christian.

Screwtape: Your one-on-one approach is inefficient. This is the age of Madison Avenue and mass marketing. If you can undermine their whole group at once, then you’ve accomplished something.

Wormwood: Unfortunately, I’m not highly productive. In the time it takes me to frustrate one believer, I could tempt a dozen heathens.

Screwtape: Don’t lose heart, Wormwood. We are implementing a plan to impair the whole Church with a single ploy.

Wormwood: I don’t see how that will be possible. I see Christians dedicated to warning others about hell. It’s all I can do just to get one of them distracted for a short time.

Screwtape: We are going to use their Leader’s own words.

Wormwood: No! Please don’t. Don’t even joke about using His words. I can’t take it.

Screwtape: If you’re ever going to grow up to be an effective demon, you’re going to have to learn to use the Enemy’s words against Him.

Wormwood: It just seems so dangerous. Which words are you going to use?

Screwtape: “Judge not!”

Wormwood: I don’t understand why He would tell them not to judge. That’s confusing. He commanded His followers to rebuke, admonish, and judge hundreds of times in His Book. And that’s what they’re out there
doing. And I might add, it’s causing me grief.

Screwtape: When their Leader said those words, He was speaking to hypocrites. “Judge not you hypocrite,” as He said later in the same paragraph.

Wormwood: Yeah, but how are we going to use “Judge not” to neutralize the whole Church?

Screwtape: We’re going to get them to ignore the fact that He was talking to hypocrites. He said that hypocrites should not judge, at least not until they stop doing the wrong deed themselves. But we’re going to make them think none of them should judge, ever.

Wormwood: That’s brilliant if you can pull it off, that is. I mean, if we can get them to stop judging, then they won’t rebuke the wicked. And they won’t be able to admonish those who are sexually immoral.

Screwtape: It is even more brilliant than you realize. If we can seduce Christians into following the instructions for hypocrites, we will turn them into hypocrites. It’s like government workers who follow foolish rules so precisely they are transformed from human beings into bureaucrats; drones who mindlessly dispense red tape regardless of the misfortune they cause. The slave who willingly obeys his master, begins to conform to the master. If believers willingly submit to an instruction for hypocrites, they will conform to hypocrisy. Eventually, with a little evil luck, we might stop them from confronting unbelievers altogether because, as you know Wormwood, to confront requires judging. And if they don’t judge unbelievers, they are hypocrites, professing the Gospel but denying its power.

Wormwood: Ha, ha. I’m excited. When do we start?

Screwtape: Everything is underway already. Just do your part.

Wormwood: And that is...?

Screwtape: Make sure your targets read as little of the Book as possible. Don’t get too worried if they stick to their favorite twenty cliche verses. But make sure they remain ignorant of most of the Word.

Wormwood: Master, you are brilliant.

Screwtape: You can call me Master if you want, but don’t let the boss hear you.
