Maher to Steinem: Why Don’t Feminists Make More of a Cause Out of How Women Are Treated..
Breitbart ^ | 2/5//16 | Ian Hanchett

.. In the Muslim World?

HBO's "Real Time" host Bill Maher wondered why the way women are treated in the Muslim world isn't more of a cause for feminists during an interview with author and activist Gloria Steinem on Friday.

Maher asked, "Why aren't the way women are treated in the Muslim world considered more of a feminist cause?" Steinem responded that it is a feminist cause, and that women in the Muslim world consider their treatment a feminist cause.

After she added, "All monotheism is a problem." Maher responded, "Yes, but not quite as much." Steinem then said that the problem is "Islam being attached to the government." And all theocracies are a problem.

Maher then pointed to the "40 countries" with Sharia Law and how women are treated as a result of such law. Steinem responded that she doesn’t like any monotheism, and pointed to feminists in the Islamic world who are pushing back against radicalism using the words of Mohammed.

Maher may prove useful, yet.

On this issue, Maher is more than just useful. He is heroic. Maher has been denouncing Muslim extremism for years. And he won't back down, or modify his words, just to please a particular guest.

This is not a case of a blind pig finding an acorn. It's a case of someone consistently denouncing what needs to be consistently denounced.

"All monotheism is a problem."

Yes, it would be much better to have multiple gods telling you to beat your wife rather than just one.

the problem is "Islam being attached to the government."

What's that saying about a blind squirrel ...?

And all theocracies are a problem.

Agreed. That's why our Founders were careful to eschew an official religion, even as they fought hard to protect an individual's right to practice his religion freely.

she knows that the libtard oppression card and libtard identity politics card won't work in the mohammedum world

Well, she doesn’t like “monotheism” unless it is the worship of Baal, and child ritual sacrifices. It’s a “sacrament”, don’t cha know?

Leftists also don’t make a big deal out of how gays, Christians and any infidels or Jews are treated in the islamic relm.

It's not about being "pro-gay", it's about hating Christians.

This shows you the truth... that feminism isn’t about equal rights for women, it’s really about tearing down western civilization.

You nailed it. Self-censorship is the worst censorship of all. If you speak ill of Islam, there could be a fatwa calling for your death.

In other words, she had nothing of substance to say.

It has always shocked me that Steinem, who went to good schools, is so very ill-spoken and uneducated on a variety of subjects. Comparative religion, psychology, history, you name it, she has only the most banal comments on any of them. She can’t hold a candle to Germaine Greer who for all her kookiness, is a brilliant woman.

Some folks keep insisting on giving God advice. It isn’t a new problem. Jonah is just one example.

What an ignorant slut!

What does monotheism have to do with how women are treated?

How are they treated in China and India?

In Christianity and especially catholicism Mary (as a symbol for women) is exalted and revered.

She and her movement are truly despicable.

She doesn’t like monotheism, but has she ever had to deal seriously with pagan pantheons?

If monotheism were the problem then the brutal mistreatment of women would be pervasive in Judeo-Christian culture as well, which of course it isn’t. Interesting (and revealing) that Maher didn’t bring that up in his argument.

Feminists excuse the Islamic misogynist/rape culture for three reasons:

1) Cowardice. REAL misogynists (Islamics) scare the hell out of them. Most feminists are spoiled, middle-class white girls who only have the courage of their convictions when they know they’re physically safe. They’re afraid that if they criticize Islam, they could very well end up dead.

2) They view white, Christian men and Judeo-Christian culture as their biggest enemies, same as Islamics do. So it’s become an “enemy of my enemy is my friend” situation.

3) They’re deathly afraid of being thought of as “racists” (liberals’ biggest fear), even though Islam obviously isn’t a race.

Add up all three, and it’s easy to see how feminists twist themselves into pretzels in attempting to excuse the Islamic barbarians.

Didn’t Father Kolbe stand in for 9 other men? Not all would have been just like him. These libs would not stand for you in a heated moment, no matter what. They save their own hide.

Serious Protestants also honor how Jesus was merciful to prostitutes and adulteresses. The fiend that Steinem envisions almost doesn’t exist in real life, it is a bugaboo in her mind.

Not to mention, passages like Proverbs 31 would be impossible.

The simple fact is that “feminism” has absolutely nothing to do with women, except using them as cannon fodder in whatever leftist cause that is popular at the time.

That is why “feminists” remained totally silent about the Muslim rape-fest in Europe. They say nothing about female circumcision. They say nothing about the black on every woman rape epidemic. They don’t warn women that the overwhelming majority of women with HIV/AIDS get it from a black sex partner.

Blacks, and Muslims are part of the democrat “coalition of the oppressed” and as such, they are given a complete pass on their horrific War on Women. Women being a part of the “coalition of the oppressed” are expected to allow themselves to be raped, mutilated or murdered without a peep.

“Feminism” was created only to split the white vote by turning white women against their white husbands, fathers, brothers, cousins, etc. You don’t see any attempt by “feminists” to turn black women against black men, or Hispanic women against Hispanic men.

It us a question that should have been asked earlier and repeatedly. Good for him for taking the hit for finally asking an essential “feminist” question of the “sisterhood”.

I doubt she knows anything about religions - ancient or modern and cultish. She’s a blatant careerist, always has been, always will be, who latches on to rich men to fund her various projects (which, invariably, come to nothing). At least Susan Sontag created books that have some lasting value. All Steinem has to her credit it the clunky and unwitty aphorism “A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.”
