Trump to Cruz: You Dodged a Question About Me Because ‘People Back Down with Trump’
Breitbart ^ | 2/6/16 | Hanchett

Posted on 02/07/2016 9:33:57 AM PST by Zenjitsuman

Trump then said, “I respect what Ted just said, but if you noticed, he didn’t answer your question, and that’s what’s going to happen — it’s okay. That’s what’s going to happen with our enemies, and the people we compete against. We’re going to win with Trump. We’re going to win. We don’t win anymore. Our country doesn’t win anymore. We’re going to win with Trump. And people back down with Trump, and that’s what I like, and that’s what the country is going to like.”

The Republican Party itself will not abolish Roe v Wade. Any and all Roe v Wade talk after an election takes place embarrasses the Republican Party. The only time the Republican Party wants to talk about Roe v Wade is during the campaign season.

There’s a lot of people who feel the exact same way. Lord help us if he makes it to the general.

it’s wrong that they do that.

I’ve done a lot of bad things when I was younger. I already have to answer for that. Dont want to have to answer for this too.

And God is not going to say “well, bernie would have been worse, so good move!!”

State laws prohibiting abortion in these cases will come before the next justice department’s head.

I will vote for how i think will protect the unborn the most and then fight whomever wins that does not uphold protection of God’s children.

“Trump will get down in the mud and the blood and the beer and do whatever is necessary to win.”

That may be why he has incredibly high negatives nationwide. Viewing everything thru the lens of “What’s in it for me” combined with bombast and over-the-top attacks do NOT make for a winning candidate.

If someone as conservative as I am is sick of Trump’s ramblings and senseless endorsements of people like Putin (while attacking Cruz, Malkin, Sowell and others), then how in the heck is he going to win a general election?

I didn’t like Romney. Didn’t like McCain. Didn’t like GWB the second time he ran. Didn’t like Dole. Didn’t like GHWB. But I was glad to vote for all of them over the person running on the democrat side. So if I would consider sitting the election out, how does Trump win?

Cruz lacked the cajones to say it to Trump's face.

Yeah, like he lacked the cajones to call McConnell a liar to his face.

He's just terrified of Trump. Riiiiight.

Cruz is a tricky wiseguy, who will do anything to win. Ask Doc. Carson

I’ve been saying all along that Cruz is a snake.

Just before the first debate, my wife asked me who I supported and I said Cruz. She heard him speak for the first time and looked dead at me and said “He talks just like a televangelist. No way!”.

Some don’t see it, still.

What Cruz said was fine, but he should have begun with a one sentence dig at Trump to frame the issue. He was probably counting on Trump to flip out at some point during the debate, and therefore decided to take the high road. Trump actually managed to keep his temper and refrain from gratuitous insults for a whole debate, which was remarkable. A close call though: there were several points at which Trump was flushing and about to go off, but his staff has probably been drilling him on anger management techniques.

The simple fact is the a$$hat reporters will ask the questions they choose. Candidates should answer as they choose and not allow themselves to be bullied into answers the a$$hats want to hear.

I pay little attention to debates because of the kneejerk, stupid, ignorant, butthead, .@#&@*$**#....., a$$hat reporters.

Trump and maybe Christy are the only ones left with the “leader of the pack” Alpha Male genes. Huckabee and Santorum had some of it. Clearly Ted Cruz does not have it!

I felt it gives Trump an opportunity to be a bully. A role that he relishes, but voters abhor. Even after Cruz explained his position with Carson, Carson acted like he wanted to be friends before taking a shot at him. I thought Trump behaved until this point and at the very end of the debate when he took a shot at Trump.

My professor at school, who is very liberal, made a comment that whoever has the ground game in politics typically wins. He used Cruz as an example of someone on the Republican side.

Cruz had a good debate even if he chose not to mix it up with Trump...notice how the establishment hacks avoided him in favor of the easier target Rubio?

Even that female skeletor moderator who tried to trip Cruz up backed off when Cruz started correcting her.

That may be why he has incredibly high negatives nationwide. Viewing everything thru the lens of “What’s in it for me” combined with bombast and over-the-top attacks do NOT make for a winning candidate.

Hillary has incredibly high negatives. Obama used dirty tricks to defeat Romney who refused to fight back. The demographics of this country have changed rapidly fueled by mass immigration and high minority birthrates. The Dems outnumber the Reps.

The Dems have won the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 elections with Obama getting the two highest vote totals in American history. In 2012, despite receiving 3.5 million fewer votes than in 2008 and Romney receiving a million more votes than McCain, Obama still won by 5 million votes. And Romney won the Independent vote.

Trump has a much broader appeal than any other Rep. He is a TV celebrity who has been in people's homes for 12 years. Americans think they know him. His name recognition is about the same as Hillary's.

If the GOP loses the WH in 2016, the party and the country is finished. By 2019, half of the children 18 and under are minorities. Each cohort that turn 18 annually is more minority and more Dem than the previous one. Minorities and immigrants vote more than two to one Dem. By 2043, only half of the country will be non-Hispanic white (the power base of the GOP) compared to 89% in 1970 and 63% in 2012.

In 1970, one in 21 was foreign-born; today it is less than one in 8, the highest in 105 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. Demography is destiny.

If someone as conservative as I am is sick of Trump’s ramblings and senseless endorsements of people like Putin (while attacking Cruz, Malkin, Sowell and others), then how in the heck is he going to win a general election?

Endorsements of Putin? Give me a break. He is willing to work with Putin to destroy ISIS, which he deems is a greater existential threat to us and our allies. And Obama and Kerry are in fact doing that behind the scenes now. Many Rep candidates and Hillary wanted to set up no-fly zones when Russia was invited into Syria by Assad. That is more dangerous than what Trump is advocating.

Trump will win the election by getting more votes. He will attract Reagan democrats and a larger share of minority voters than historically has been the case for the GOP.

Trump is the only candidate following the template set by Jeff Sessions in a brilliant article written almost two years ago. It should be required reading for every Rep candidate at any level. This is the road to victory: Becoming the Party of Work--How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself.

Bill Kristol said he would not vote for Trump if he is the nominee. NR devoted a whole edition to destroying Trump. We have the Uniparty. The GOP-controlled Congress has given Obama everything he wants and more. Both parties are bought and paid for by their corporate paymasters and special interests. I am tired of holding my nose for GOP candidates who promise everything and deliver on nothing. GWB doubled the national debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion; he failed to veto the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform; he established an expansion of Medicare, the Prescription Drug Program that represents a liability of $7 trillion; he lost the GOP controlled Congress; and he pushed amnesty.

I say let's try something different this time. Let's get a private citizen into the WH rather than another member of the political class who has destroyed this country. Let's get someone who is competent and successful in the private sector. Let's get someone who has executive experience in the real world rather than first term senators and governors with no real record of achievement. Let's get someone not beholden to donors and special interests.

In nine out of the last ten elections, we have had a Bush or a Clinton running for President or Vice President. There has been a Bush or a Clinton in the WH (President or Vice President) for 28 of the past 35 years. Add Hillary's four years as SecState and you have 32 out of the last 35 years with a Bush or Clinton holding a high office in the Executive Branch. We are becoming a Banana Republic . Dynastic politics has become the norm. Surely, in a nation of 320 million, we can find more qualified and competent people to be President than political class hacks.

Cruz had his chance on national TV in front of millions of voters to reaffirm what he said. He didn’t. He chickened out.
