I liked the way Trump went up to Doc Carson when the moderators screwed up and didn’t call on Doc. That was both magnanimous of Donald and showed he is a leader.

Cruz has a perception problem that will be hard to shake. He has painted himself in the corner as the far right ultra-conservative. It will hurt his ability to attract the number of voters he needs to win the primaries. It puts a ceiling on the percentage of voters he can attract.

If Trump had not been in the race, Cruz would be gone by now. The GOPe would have focused all their efforts on destroying him. Trump has shielded Cruz from these focused attacks and Trump has taken out many of the GOPe candidates. The GOPe is still trying to identify its candidate. Unlike previous elections, the GOPe vote is fragmented while the anti-GOPe votes are coalescing around Trump, Cruz, and to a lesser extent Carson.

Cruz made a major mistake going after Trump so early. It could mean that he will plummet in the polls allowing the GOPe to go after Trump to knock him out. We may very well have a brokered convention.

I am a Trump supporter, but I could live with Cruz. I will not vote for anyone else if one of them is not the nominee.

“So why didn’t Cruz just restate his contention that Trump doesn’t have the temperament and judgment to have his finger on the button or that he would nuke Denmark?”

Because everyone knew he said it, and he was leaving it with the voters. Because Trump’s personality is pretty obvious.

“Cruz lacked the cajones to say it to Trump’s face.”

No, he just knew it wouldn’t be well received in that context. Kind of like Trump calling Carly “pretty” to her face after attacking her looks and mocking her.

So instead you are going in front of God with a guy that will win at all costs who has no integrity? I will take my chances. Cruz is a miserable sociopath. I don’t think God is impress using him for political purposes.

I didn’t watch to the end. What happened? I saw Dr. Carson speak exactly twice when I tuned in so I may have missed some but I thought it was horrible the way they kept skipping over him. When I tuned in, Dr. Carson was saying the others could mention his name more often - thereby implying that was the only way he would get a chance to speak. Went over the heads of the moderators apparently! The other time I saw him speak was when he said he wanted to take the question about N. Korea.

I’m fond of him but I wish he wouldn’t stick around for more humiliation. He’s too decent a man for that.

What until the media and candidates find out that Cruz has been doing robocalls in South Carolina lying about them. It won’t be pretty and I can’t wait. Only one article so far about them but the focus isn’t there yet. He is a slimy person. He would be a disaster as a General nominee. We’d probably lose 40 states.

Cruz called out Trump criticized him on the campaign trail, but can’t talk about it now on the debate stage. Little Eddie Haskell.

The Trump supports here believe they have to act like mini-Trump’s in order to get their point across. Believing that being crude while lobbing exaggerated and inaccurate accusations somehow gets their point across, where it really just makes them look ignorant.

FR has really changed since I first joined and not for the better. It degrading into a flame war, the likes which inhabit teen gamer sites.

Try backing up your positions with facts and sprinkle in a little class while you’re at it. Bluster and lies immediately devalue any salient points you may actually make.

Cruz was never going to do well in NH and doesn’t need to.

The race shifts to the South next week. Last night’s debate was a disaster for the GOPe. It’ll keep at least one if not 3 of Rubio’s contenders for the establishment lane in the race, diluting the establishment’s ability to field an organized resistance.

I would rate the nomination at this point a complete toss up between Trump, Cruz, and Rubio with the inside track going to Trump.

1. If Rubio doesn’t implode here, he’ll have an advantage later when the more moderate states are winner take all. That said, he torched himself last night. If I were him, I’d start airing “I’d rather lose an election than be wrong on life.” - arguably his best soundbite ever - all over the South.

2. Cruz has the funds and infrastructure to do well in the South. If it’s down to a two man race after March, advantage Cruz.

3. Trump really needs to stick with the issues that brought him to the dance. “It’s gonna be great, trust me.” Is wearing thin and won’t support him the distance. That said, if Rubio stays viable after March 1, then serious advantage to Trump. Trump wins a three way race.

The Republican Party itself is fine with those exemptions. Any and all abortion talk after an election takes place embarrasses the Republican Party. The only time the Republican Party wants to talk about abortion is during the campaign season.

Because everyone knew he said it, and he was leaving it with the voters. Because Trump’s personality is pretty obvious.

Cruz backed down. It was obvious. Cruz is still a typical politician. Cruz said he would not use Bill Clinton's against Hillary in the campaign saying that he will focus on policy and substantive issues. That tells me that Cruz lacks the stomach for the fight. Trump will get down in the mud and the blood and the beer and do whatever is necessary to win. He will fight like a Democrat, which is why Trump is the candidate they would least like to face.

Mr. Trump, Senator Cruz has said about you right here in New Hampshire this week, quote, "I don't know anyone who would be comfortable with someone who behaves this way, having his finger on the button. We're liable to wake up one morning, and if he were president, he would nuke Denmark." Saying, quote, "That's temperament of a leader to keep this country safe."

I wanted to give you the opportunity to respond to this and to tell the American people tonight why you do have the temperament to be commander-in-chief.

TRUMP: I actually think I have the best temperament. I built a massive corporation. I employ thousands and thousands of people. I've gotten along with people for years and years, have tremendous relationships with many people, including politicians on both sides. And no matter how you cut it, when I -- when I came out, I hit immigration, I hit it very hard. Everybody said, "Oh, the temperament," because I talked about illegal immigration.

TRUMP: Now, everybody's coming to me, they're all trying to say, well, he's right, we have to come to him. I hit other things. I talked about Muslims. We have a problem. Nobody else wanted to mention the problem, I brought it up. I took a lot of heat. We have to have a temporary something, because there's something going on that's not good. And remember this, I'm the only one up here, when the war of Iraq -- in Iraq, I was the one that said, "Don't go, don't do it, you're going to destabilize the Middle East." So, I'm not one with a trigger. I'm not one with a trigger. Other people up here, believe me, would be a lot faster.

But I'll build the mill arbitrary stronger, bigger, better than anybody up here, and nobody is going to mess with us. That, I can tell you.

(APPLAUSE)

MUIR: Mr. Trump, thank you. I want to bring this to Senator Cruz, then.

Because Senator, you did said of Trump's behavior this week, that's not the temperament of a leader to keep this country safe.

Why not?

CRUZ: Well, you know, David, the assessment the voters are making here in New Hampshire and across the country is they are evaluating each and every one of us. They are looking to our experience. They are looking to our knowledge. They are looking to our temperament and judgment. They are looking to our clarity of vision and our strength of resolve.

The world is getting much more dangerous. We've had seven years with Barack Obama in the oval office, a commander-in-chief that is unwilling even to acknowledge the enemy we're facing. This is a president who, in the wake of Paris, in the wake of San Bernardino, will not even use the words radical Islamic terrorism, much less focus on defeating the enemy.

I am convinced every individual standing on this stage, would make a much better commander-in-chief than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

(APPLAUSE)

And the primary voters are making the assessment for each of us, who is best prepared to keep this country safe, to rebuild the military, to rebuild our Navy, our Air Force, our Army, our Marines, and to ensure that we keep America safe.

MUIR: Senator Cruz, I did ask about Mr. Trump. You said he doesn't have the temperament to be commander-in-chief. Do you stand by those words?

CRUZ: I think that is an assessment the voters are going to make. And they are going to make it of each and everyone of us. They are going to assess who is level-headed, who has clear vision, who has judgment, who can confront our enemies, who can confront the threats we face in this country, and who can have the judgment when to engage and when not to engage -- both are incredibly important for a commander-in-chief, knowing how to go after our enemies.

In the case of Iran, for example, who has the clarity of vision to understand that the Ayatollah Khamenei, when he chants, "Death to America," he means it. We need a president with the judgment and resolve to keep this country safe from radical Islamic terrorists.

MUIR: Senator Cruz, thank you. We're going to continue on this notion of readiness and experience. I'm going to come back.

TRUMP: Am I allowed to respond? I have to respond.

MUIR: If you would like to respond, Mr. Trump.

TRUMP: First of all, I respect what Ted just said, but if you noticed, he didn't answer your question. And that's what's going to happen -- OK.

(APPLAUSE)

That's what's going to happen with our enemies and the people we compete against. We're going to win with Trump. We're going to win. We don't win anymore. Our country doesn't win anymore. We're going to win with Trump. And people back down with Trump. And that's what I like and that's what the country is going to like.

(APPLAUSE)
