Here's the deal, folks. As I said in a previous article, open source is a necessity when it comes to voting. I praised Bernie Sanders' campaign for questioning Microsoft's motives in providing the platform for the Iowa Caucuses. With that said, Microsoft was ultimately not the problem, closed source was.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, as could be expected, it is now being accused of voter fraud by apparent Donald Trump supporters. Since Ted Cruz won last night, you would think the claim is that the Windows-maker fraudulently boosted him. Nope. Actually, conspiracy theorists are claiming Microsoft increased the number of votes cast for Marco Rubio, who placed third. This movement is using the hashtag #MicrosoftRubioFraud. ..
According to Fortune, who shed light on the below tweets, it seems conspiracy theorists are pointing to Microsoft's large donations to Senator Rubio as a motive for helping him. True, his performance was better than expected last night, but committing fraud in order to improve a candidate to third place doesn't seem like a very worthwhile risk.
Open source would actually help Microsoft in this case, as the company could point suspicious citizens to the source code. Closed source not only has the potential to hurt voters, but it is preventing Microsoft from being transparent. In other words, Microsoft will never be able to shake these claims while source code is hidden from voters.
Do I think Microsoft committed fraud to help Marco Rubio? No. But my opinion -- and the opinion of others -- is inconsequential here. With the source code locked away, no one can really be sure. With that said, there is no definitive proof that any fraud occurred either.

An Iowa FR member said Democrats were getting students to vote for Marco on election day. That seems a bit odd given how close their race was. But if they thought Hillary already has it in the bag in the SEC primary they might have used resources to prop up a candidate they feel they can beat. Their version of Operation Chaos.
This is just stupid. Hell the people that wrote the app may actually be trump supporters.
It’s not like Microsoft corporation is going to say...ok now give me the app and let me do some hidden stuff and then it’s good to use.
Trump is just a sore loser. He should have done the debate and he may have kept Rubio from surging. Now he may lose NH or SC because of his poor decision.
Is there a backup canvass being done?
Oh and the app ran on an iPhone so Tim Cook could have personally changed the app when no one was looking. /sarcasm.
Agree. Trump should have gone to the debate and should have built a ground game.
This is also circulating about Rubio:
In 1995, Rubio claims he met his wife, Miami Dolphins cheerleader Jeanette Dousdebes at a âfoam partyâ in South Beach. There is one thing wrong with Rubioâs story: foam parties in South Beach were almost exclusively gay events held at gay clubsâ¦

And the blurry photo ‘proof’:

There’s also a Jeb! pushed rumor of Rubio having an affair - with a female - that I haven’t tracked down yet. Who the chick is.
First term, big earned, minority Senator who used the same line Obama used when he won (actually finished 3rd).
MSM including Fox are pushing Rubio now non-stop.
Note to all candidates:
IT IS ONLY A FEW DELEGATES. SHUT THE HELL UP AND MOVE ON!!!
“SHUT THE HELL UP AND MOVE ON!!!”
It’s only a BJ...
Remember that call for people to “move on” too?
NOT ONLY IS IT A FEW DELEGATES, but they are all from a pissant state which has voted GOP exactly once in the last 7 presidential elections.
Just for the record, Microsoft supports Open Source development and deployment of Open Source applications in the Microsoft Cloud named Azure.
I don’t know the specifics of this voting application but you can see many, many Open Source projects here:
Voting Procedures in Honduras, a Banana Republic!
(a re-write of excellent post by Gideon300)
I had the opportunity to go watch my wife, a citizen of Honduras, vote in last yearâs presidential election in Tegucigalpa. It was a real eye-opener, and I can only wish the US had such a strict voting process.
Everyone in Honduras is required to vote only in the precinct as indicated on their government issued (free) photo ID card. Every citizen over 18 is required to have an national ID, and everyone with an ID can vote. No one else, and no one is registered as a member of a certain party, merely a citizen. My wifeâs precinct is Barrio El Bosque, so she was required to go to the Escuela de 14 de Julio (local elementary school) if she wanted to vote.
When we arrived at the voting place there were hundreds of people milling around the street and a long line was waiting to enter. The entire scene was closely watched over by Army and PolicÃa Nacionál to make sure order was kept. For the most part everything was quite orderly, and people were polite to each other even with the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. After showing ID, passing the guard and entering the school we went to the main table in the courtyard where they ran her ID through a computer and she was given a little slip of paper that indicated her name, her precinct, her ^mesa^ (voting area) and ^linea^ number (her number on the voter registration list). Every citizen is automatically registered to vote, and their name, Id photo and precinct number is on a list posted in that precinct.
The ^mesas^ in this case are rooms in the school, numbered in order to handle the hundreds of people waiting to vote. Her mesa was number 8586, so after finding the room, there was a list of all registered voters beside the door. She checked her line number with photo, 235, to make sure she is at the right door, the man watching the door checked her ID against the list, and let her in. She went to the table inside the room
for a ballot, was checked again for ID and compared it to the info and photo in the registry, was given two ballots, one for president and one for congress, and this time they held her ID while she voted. I was allowed in as a foreign observer, but was not on school tables for privacy, so after voting she deposited her ballots in the appropriate boxes, was given her ID back and we left.
I wanted to take photos but no cameras were allowed anywhere but in the street. No alcohol is sold anywhere in Honduras from Saturday through Monday, the day before and the day after election.
They take voter ID, and potential vote fraud, VERY seriously. All ballots are paper, and all have the candidateâs info and photo. There are eight official parties in Honduras, and the one with the most votes wins. The police and the army watch the voting very closely. One woman was caught with an extra ballot, and was immediately arrested. The Honduras news media, which is quite politically unbiased, indicated that both local and official foreign observers found only three cases of vote fraud in the entire country.
It was certainly an eye-opener for me! If this is the difference between a the US and a Banana Republic, then Iâll take a banana republic election anytime.
It’s Cruz versus “Cruising”.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Hardcopy backups are racist.
The focus should be NH, not rehashing Iowa.
The focus should be issues, not litigation over essentially one delegate.
And before you go after one of your own, maybe you should read posting histories.
I know it's making me sick. How the hell someone fishes 3rd behind two people who got the largest number of votes in Iowa history is nuts. And it's all based on polls that have always been wrong for Iowa, so they don't mean sh@t.
LOL
The people who wrote the program are likely foreigners or leftists to reflect the computer industry’s leadership.
Got any proof of that?
I’m not going to do your research for you, but you can on google. Look up Silicon Valley. Google’s CEO, Microsoft’s CEO are both leftists.
The speakers/precinct leads for every candidate were invited to watch the vote counting, and then the entry into the app. In my case, me (For Rand Paul), the Cruz person, Santorum person, Rubio person all got together and watched.
Now, I can't vouch for what happens after it got entered into the app, but it was legit up to that point. I know the Paul campaign also asked me, as a lead, to email them the results of my precinct. I'm guessing that way they could at least keep their own tally of what was going on outside the official channels. I'm guessing the other campaigns would have done the same thing.
There is also an official hard copy form to be filled out that is mailed to the party. We were all allowed to take photos of the form as well. Here it is. It wasn't signed yet in the photo, but I saw it signed. I know the Cruz rep got a photo of it signed.
