My wife and I are thrilled and hopeful after last night's results. Congratulations!
This morning, I woke up and decided to make another, larger contribution to the campaign. My wife agreed. But then, we heard the news. Now, we'll wait until after New Hampshire to see if the campaign is finished shooting itself in the foot. ...
The news report said Steve King (our favorite Congressman and your national co-chair) and the campaign Tweeted before the start of the caucus that Ben Carson is pulling out, and Cruz-ers like us should spread the word.
Given I was the one who stood up and spoke on Ted's behalf to over 300 attendees at our caucus site, I thank God I did not receive that "news" prior to speaking, since I definitely would have passed the word on, believing Steve King and the Cruz campaign were trustworthy sources.
So here we have another campaign debacle. First it was that deceptive, made-to-look-official mailer intended to shame people into going to their caucus (sure, other campaigns use similar tactics but, is that who we are?). Now, it's a false (deceptive?) Tweet hoping to pull votes from Carson supporters. At best, everyone failed to verify the original source. It looks bad and in many ways, perception is reality. Regardless of the truth, how it looks matters.
For now, we're waiting and watching to see what happens.
Disappointed and hopeful,
[Mr. and Mrs. newgeezer]
Just heard from my wife, “Steve King just fell on his sword to Laura Ingraham. He said Cruz and his people didn’t know but told us [radio listeners that his source was] a [Tweet] from CNN saying Ben was skipping NH and SC”
So, apparently, Congressman Steve King (R-IA4 and Cruz campaign national co-chair) saw opportunity in a Tweet from CNN and took a short ride on the Stupid Train. (And now, the consequences...)
So, is that because there are a lot of false accusations out there or...?
I know Rubio has managed to get a pass from a lot of people over his Gang of 8 shame and everyone accused Cruz of the same type immigration flip flopping. Those accusations turned out to be false but their scent in the air is damaging. Now there is this. What a dirty business this is.
You didn’t receive communication from Cruz because he didn’t send any out. The tweet is from a fake account, and there is evidence of a probable democrat operative and CNN working together in the 15 minutes before 5pm to set this up. See my latest posts. And the media cabal - including Fox - is all too willing to fall for this set-up without checking out the facts.
Look at my most recent posts to see what I’m talking about.
I’m an undecided voter, not sure between Trump and Cruz. What I know is that the dem/media crap and the knee-jerk reactions of “conservatives” is DANGEROUS. We were crowing about how Trump had defeated the power of the media. Not so. They just have to be sneakier about it, by using technology to impersonate the people they are trying to sabotage. And if they do it at the last minute, so people don’t have time to analyze the evidence and know who is real and who is fake, they can trick a lot of people.
Scum is right, but I don’t believe it is either Cruz or Trump who did this. Evidence points to dem operatives.
Hmm. Looking farther at Brown’s tweets, he references an article he posted in November, at http://www.vocativ.com/news/250162/all-your-data-are-belong-to-ted-cruz/ that tells about the access that Cruz’s campaign app gives to companies he contracts with. A LOT of room for moles there. He makes the comment that one of those companies is physically right next to Fox News’ New York address.
I don’t think I have the skills or time to investigate this fully, but there is a LOT that should be investigated.
Did the Cruz campaign network know that you were going to speak on his behalf at the caucus? Did they have your email address?
If so, and if this stuff was coordinated by Cruz, you would have been contacted. It is clear from your email that you are a man of integrity. Are you on the Cruz campaign’s email list? If so, could you look at the screenshot in the article at http://www.vocativ.com/news/276724/ted-cruz-is-a-scam-artist/ and see if you received those emails, that Jennings Brown claims he received? The times and dates of the mailings are visible so you can compare. That information would be very, very helpful in figuring out what happened and who did it.
Thanks!
[newgeezer],
Thanks for sending us a note. You could have made a different choice and not shared your thoughts.
There is more to this event than might have been shared with you. I am going to send you a statement from Senator Cruz that was released this morning. Senator Cruz and Dr. Carson have spoken on this topic. The data was released on CNN and the campaign picked it up from the news channels. The campaign only relayed the info to other members on the team. Later than evening Dr. Carson's team sent out a clarifying release, our team did not pick up and forward it along.
We hope the additional information will help answer any requested and restore your faith in the team.
Team, the following statement is from Sen. Cruz regarding the messages that went out last night about Dr. Ben Carson's schedule following the Iowa Caucus. Please let me know if you have any questions:
Ted Cruz: "First off I want to say that I am a huge fan of Dr. Ben Carson. He is a wonderful and talented individual, and I've thoroughly enjoyed our time together on the campaign trail.
"Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story. Thatâs fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out.
"This was a mistake from our end, and for that I apologize to Dr. Carson."
