The Carson camp claimed Cruz's team spread false rumors at caucus sites that Carson had dropped out.

Ben Carson was incensed as the results of Monday night's Iowa caucuses rolled in, accusing the winner of spreading falsehoods about him at caucus sites.

It is from Steve King. He was on Laura Ingraham this morning, and she called him out on it. He said he did it to help the Carson caucus goers out. He didn’t want them caucusing for a guy that had pulled out of the race.

Oh, and it was in the heat of the moment......

LOLOLOL - what a putz. At least own up to your dirty tricks, not say you were trying to help the other guy out while you’re stabbing him in the back.

Just heard from my wife, “Steve King just fell on his sword to Laura Ingraham. He said Cruz and his people didn’t know but told us [radio listeners that his source was] a [Tweet] from CNN saying Ben was skipping NH and SC”

So, apparently, Congressman Steve King (R-IA4 and Cruz campaign national co-chair) saw opportunity in a Tweet from CNN and took a short ride on the Stupid Train. (And now, the consequences...)

Hooks might be on drugs suggesting Carson is universally loved

It's so much easier for Carson to blame Cruz than to accept the fact that his candidacy is a joke. In the last debate, he could barely give coherent answers to the few questions that he got, and he's proven himself to be clueless on policy time after time. Carson's role in this election is a lot like Herman Cain's 4 years ago: comic relief combined with an outlet for a certain kind of Republican voter to show how "inclusive" they are.

At 4:27 yesterday Jennings Brown published an article (at http://www.vocativ.com/news/276724/ted-cruz-is-a-scam-artist/ )claiming that Ted Cruz has been sending crazy stuff to him since November. There is a “screen grab” claiming to show that from Dec 6 to January 22nd the ONLY emails this guy received were from various different authors using different variants of Ted Cruz as the sender (come on, for a month this guy doesn’t even get spam emails? No emails from mom?). The article goes on to say how campaigns manipulate the name in the To: line.

The article gives a link to his writing history, at http://www.vocativ.com/author/jbrown/ . When you go there it gives his twitter handle; you can see his tweets at https://twitter.com/tjenningsbrown . Here’s one tweet:

Jennings Brown ‏@tjenningsbrown Jan 29
Jennings Brown Retweeted Donald J. Trump
Digging the new nickname. Jennings Brown added,
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Amazing that Ted Cruz can’t even get a Senator like @BenSasse, who is easy, to endorse him. Not one Senator is endorsing Canada Ted!

Another one:

Jennings Brown ‏@tjenningsbrown Jan 22
76 of the hoogest promises Donald Trump has already made on the campaign trail. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/01/22/here-are-76-of-donald-trumps-many-campaign-promises/ …

This doesn’t seem like a Cruz supporter OR a Trump supporter. One of the articles he wrote slammed Ben Carson so he’s not a Carson supporter either, apparently.

Seems like he’s either a Rubio supporter or a democratic operative. He has some very animated tweets about Hillary and Bernie. I suspect this is a democrat operative...

What is so disheartening is that people are so quick to fall for the shenanigans of dem operatives. We’re supposed to be smarter than that. sigh.

That's a really good e-mail!!! I'm very eager to hear a response. Ted is good at explaining what really happened when he is accused of doing something that would be shameful. I've heard him making that kind of explanation a lot of times.

So, is that because there are a lot of false accusations out there or...?

I know Rubio has managed to get a pass from a lot of people over his Gang of 8 shame and everyone accused Cruz of the same type immigration flip flopping. Those accusations turned out to be false but their scent in the air is damaging. Now there is this. What a dirty business this is.

So was there a real Tweet from CNN? Was it bait? This is kind of like calling pass interference on a pass that was completely uncatchable.

The CNN tweet saying that Carson would not be campaigning for the upcoming primaries was at 4:43pm and then his update (that Carson was only going home for a change of clothes but would stay in the race) was 15 hours from whenever (now? when a screenshot was taken? when? I don’t know how to tell)

Seems like there was activity by democrat operative Jennings Brown and an ultimately-false tweet by CNN right before 5pm. There was a CNN news report on it at 6:45 and a faked Ted Cruz tweet at 33 seconds before 7pm when the caucuses were supposed to start.

Jennings Brown’s article at 4:27 used a lot of information from Obama’s campaign person who gave him all kinds of clues on how to make emails look like what was in Brown’s inbox - ya know, the “screenshot” that showed that in one month Brown ONLY received emails from “Ted Cruz”...

People, before you impeach the good name of anybody, please check out the facts as best you can. As long as the dem operatives can get away with crap because the partisan spirit blinds our brains from searching for facts, they will keep doing it. And the nation will be lost because we were more interested in slamming our opponent than finding out the real story. And I have to say, we will deserve the government we get as a result.

There is a tweet responding to the original CNN tweet, with a screenshot from an IA paper (Des Moines REgister?) saying that Cruz’s campaign DENIED that they had sent out any tweets (as we know). I’d have to look again to see if they denied sending out any emails. Steve King’s tweets clearly say that Carson’s supporters should know not to throw their votes away. If Cruz’s speakers at the caucuses get King’s tweets they might have acted on that basis without Cruz being involved at all. We don’t know yet - except that we know somebody faked a tweet from Ted Cruz, which wouldn’t be necessary if he had already done an email about it.

In any event, Cruz denies being involved in this and we already have what we KNOW is a faked tweet and evidence of probable democrat/CNN sabotage coordinated shortly before 5pm.

You didn’t receive communication from Cruz because he didn’t send any out. The tweet is from a fake account, and there is evidence of a probable democrat operative and CNN working together in the 15 minutes before 5pm to set this up. See my latest posts. And the media cabal - including Fox - is all too willing to fall for this set-up without checking out the facts.

Look at my most recent posts to see what I’m talking about.

I’m an undecided voter, not sure between Trump and Cruz. What I know is that the dem/media crap and the knee-jerk reactions of “conservatives” is DANGEROUS. We were crowing about how Trump had defeated the power of the media. Not so. They just have to be sneakier about it, by using technology to impersonate the people they are trying to sabotage. And if they do it at the last minute, so people don’t have time to analyze the evidence and know who is real and who is fake, they can trick a lot of people.

Scum is right, but I don’t believe it is either Cruz or Trump who did this. Evidence points to dem operatives.

Hmm. Looking farther at Brown’s tweets, he references an article he posted in November, at http://www.vocativ.com/news/250162/all-your-data-are-belong-to-ted-cruz/ that tells about the access that Cruz’s campaign app gives to companies he contracts with. A LOT of room for moles there. He makes the comment that one of those companies is physically right next to Fox News’ New York address.

I don’t think I have the skills or time to investigate this fully, but there is a LOT that should be investigated.

Did the Cruz campaign network know that you were going to speak on his behalf at the caucus? Did they have your email address?

If so, and if this stuff was coordinated by Cruz, you would have been contacted. It is clear from your email that you are a man of integrity. Are you on the Cruz campaign’s email list? If so, could you look at the screenshot in the article at http://www.vocativ.com/news/276724/ted-cruz-is-a-scam-artist/ and see if you received those emails, that Jennings Brown claims he received? The times and dates of the mailings are visible so you can compare. That information would be very, very helpful in figuring out what happened and who did it.

Thanks!

i’m one of them. i’m not happy with the tactics but trump has admitted to buying politicians and I believe Rep King when he says donald has bought endorsements.

who cares? they’re big boys and they will either get more credit or get hurt for what they do.

that’s up to the voters.

carson got his HIGHEST polling number of the month yesterday.

I used to box. If you got hit in the kidneys or thumbed, nobody cared. if your standing eight was IMMEDIATELY met with a punch, no one cared.

life is hard.

There’s some suspect timing in all this, and other suspect stuff. I’m trying to sort it out. You can see what I’m finding in my latest posts, and if you know how to figure out the time of tweets could help me figure out when the CNN tweet was corrected to say that Carson would still be campaigning.

Newgeezer was a speaker on Cruz’s behalf at his caucus location, and he did not receive communications from Cruz. Hopefully with his help we can figure out who did this. From what I’ve seen, it seems like sabotage coordinated/carried out by a dem or Rubio operative and CNN. It seems like Steve King rose to the bait around 5pm, saying people should let Carson supporters know he’s dropping out, but Cruz didn’t so there was a CNN clip on-air at 6:45 followed by a 7pm tweet by a FAKE Ted Cruz account. Steve King has admitted that he tweeted about the CNN claim, but Cruz denies that his campaign had anything to do with it, which seems to be corroborated by what newgeezer has said.

Last night people were wondering why Rubio was doing so well. If somebody tricked Cruz’ spokesmen at the caucuses to act in this way, it would have turned off Carson supporters to Cruz. They were already turned off to Trump because of his suggestions about Carson being like a child molester. So who would benefit from this crap? Rubio. And Rubio did better than expected. Fox supports Rubio. The GOPe supports Rubio. This Jennings Brown had a tweet where he said he got his family wondering about his political views by wearing a Cruz sweater. His family was saying they thought Cruz would be “too far to the right” for him. His tweets were against Trump, Cruz, and Carson but I didn’t see any tweets against Rubio.

Is there a way to find out what a specific individual has donated to a campaign?

I think that depends on how much is given.

The article at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3391747/posts talks about Rubio’s surprising results, saying Rubio’s people started saying they were going to do better than expected “in the hours before the Iowa caucuses opened”. Two hours before the caucuses opened was 5pm, which was precisely when Jennings Brown and CNN were working on this hit on Cruz.

This article says:
“Rubio won first place in five counties in Iowa — major population centers with thousands of votes.

He won Dallas, Polk, and Story counties near the Des Moines area, as well as Johnson county in Iowa City and Scott County, which includes the city of Davenport.”

Is there a way to know whether these are the places where Cruz speakers said that Carson was dropping out?

The more I look at this, the more it seems like media sabotage to aid Marco Rubio and force a brokered convention, as the GOPe folks have been saying will happen.

Cruz, Carson, and Trump need to make sure not to fall for this. This is the easiest way for the media and GOPe to sabotage this election to keep a conservative out.

Nully, can you ping the conspiracy list to this post? I don’t know how much more time I can spend on this, but I’ve got links and information in my latest posts (viewable at http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:butterdezillion/index?brevity=full;tab=comments )

You didn't receive communication from Cruz because he didn't send any out.

I don't know whether he (the campaign) did or not. Rep. Steve King (national campaign co-chair) Tweeted the "news" after he grossly (and stupidly) misinterpreted a Tweet from CNN's Chris Moody.

This photo of a Tweet from "Ted Cruz 2016" is definitely not from the campaign; it appears to be from someone who, like me, trusted King. If the campaign (@tedcruz) Tweeted anything of the sort, it's gone now.

As we caucus site workers were wrapping things up around 9 PM, a fellow Cruzer mentioned Carson will be dropping out and we were asked to mention it. I don't know whether he heard that from the campaign, Steve King, or breaking news. But I told him if I'd known, I would've mentioned it in my two-minute speech on Cruz's behalf. After I got home, I heard it was a false rumor about Carson.

Regardless, my point was to say if I'd heard it early enough from King or the campaign--reliable sources--I would have unknowingly spread the lie. As it turns out, the original source merely said Carson was going home for some R&R; it appears King mistakenly assumed that meant he was dropping out and saw a time-sensitive opportunity in that. So, he ran with it and fell flat on his face.

There really is a “heat of battle” aspect where you forget that things may be a trap or false. I would have assumed it to be true before I ever heard the rumor.

“As it turns out, the original source merely said Carson was going home for some R&R”

Chris Moody tweeted that Carson was going home before the caucus results then tweeted he was skipping NC and SC too. Later he tweeted he was going home for R&R.
