Cruz lacks discernment....

...while his former boss and his brother are busy doing the fake distancing from Cruz necessary for their anti-sovereignty GOPe ruse.

“Cruz lacks discernment....”

I don’t think so. I think we are seeing Cruz as Cruz. As the pressures of the campaign increase, Cruz is showing us who he really is. The curtain is being drawn aside. we are now seeing his “conservative schtick!”

If you can fool enough of the people enough of the time, you can be confirmed SCOTU Chief Justice.

Excuse me, everybody thought John Roberts was the greatest selection for that position possible. There were NO dissenting votes from any conservative leaders.

He fooled everybody. Cruz could no more see into his heart than you or I could. And everything Roberts had did or written pointed to exactly what all the conservatives wanted on the Supreme Court.

I still think they have something on Robert’s kids and/or the adoption and are using it to blackmail him.

He goofed up.

This would be of small concern if he showed an inclination to learn. Nobody’s perfect, everybody can learn.

The suicidally poisonous thing is to pose as some finished icon while still on earth.

Cruz said GWB chose Roberts because he'd be easier to get nominated

Cruz will say ANYTHING to talk his way out of things? Anyone who follows the campaign knows it was Cruz who advocated for his friend.

Cruz has sunk to another level, for me. Now I'm down to not trusting him because he'll lie about anything, and expect us to accept whatever he says. We don't need another eight years of that attitude.

(2004) Pat Buchanan seemed concerned too:

Thus, it is not unfair to say George W. Bush has appointed a stealth conservative. He will not legislate from the bench, but there is no evidence he will overturn laws the Warren Court and its progeny legislated from the bench. Yet, as he is clearly a conservative, and no liberal, it is the Left that is fearful, while on the Right there is unease.

Back before Obamacare, we ALL thought Robert’s was a principled Conservative. It was a rude awakening when we learned he wasn’t.

I’d like to believe Roberts WAS a “conservative”.
He has been co-opted, bought, had a visit, threatened etc. As such he can no longer to be counted on.
It has happened to almost every politician that gets elected. Why not Supreme Court justices?

Prior to the Obamacare decision, we all though Roberts was an excellent Chief.

Cruz has poor judgment and does not seem to work well under pressure. He is a great talker, so the gullible fall for his routine.

Cruz is the real deal.

He is the most sincerely conservative candidate in the race.

He has the best legal judgment of anyone in the field.

From 2012:
In the below article it says Seven years ago...

That is a tremendous amount of time for things to change... Roberts either has been corrupted or blackmailed.
Regardless. I think it is fair to say he hasn't lived up to what Cruz thought of him.

It is quite silly to blame Cruz for not being able to predict the future.

John Roberts is No Longer Appearing on Conservative Merit Badges

Seven years ago, during the confirmation hearings for John Roberts, Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz penned a gushing op-ed for National Review.

-snip-

Not anymore. When Roberts helped save "Obamacare," Cruz immediately blasted the Court for having "abdicated its responsibility to safeguard the Constitution." He didn't mention Roberts by name, but he insisted that the decision was more proof that Republicans needed to reject Cruz's opponent, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. "My opponent is, by nature and by over a decade of political office, a conciliator. Now is not a time for conciliation."

So here is the condensed timeline:

1995 - While clerking for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, I and my two fellow law clerks asked the chief whom he thought was the best Supreme Court lawyer currently practicing. The chief replied, with a twinkle in his eye, that he thought he could probably get a majority of his colleagues to agree that John Roberts was the best Supreme Court advocate in the nation.
2000 - Cruz recruits Roberts to assist Bush team in Florida Recount for about a week.
July 20, 2005 -
Roberts Nominated For Supreme Court
July 20, 2005 - Ted Cruz writes article support roberts
August 4, 2005 - Drudge says new york times is investigating Roberts adoption papers

Apparently when the Democrats realized they could control a Supreme Court Justice’s vote through blackmail over his having committed a number of international crimes the Times pulled back and dropped its investigation. The Democrat paper of record pulled back because it didn’t want to ” break the seal of an adoption case” – as if violating laws ever means anything to Democrats in their quest for power. Keep in mind Barack Obama’s violation of his opponents “sealed” divorce records propelled him to a US Senate seat.

September 12, 2005 - Senate confirmation hearing began for Roberts. I have found no mention whatsoever of Roberts possible adoption problems, being brought up in the confirmation
September 30, 2005 - John Roberts Confirmed. All 55 Republicans, hallf of the Democrats and an independent voted Yes.

now skip forward 10 years later in the year 2015

June 20, 2015 - Chief Justice John Roberts broke with his three conservative colleagues on the Supreme Court and voted to uphold a key provision of the Affordable Care Act
June 29, 2015 - Texas Sen. Ted Cruz says ......Roberts “put on an Obama jersey” in writing the majority opinion in the last two landmark court cases on Obamacare.
June 30, 2015 - “Mr. Cruz was so enraged by the health-care ruling — as well as last week’s decision, not supported by Mr. Roberts, upholding gay marriage — that Mr. Cruz is calling for a constitutional amendment that would require Mr. Roberts and other Justices to stand for election every 8 years.

How well do you know anyone you have briefly worked with?
How was Cruz supposed to know when he wrote his article of support that Roberts had a possible secret illegal adoption of children from Ireland, and that the Democrats had leverage for blackmail?

Most in conservative circles were pleased with the Roberts nomination in 2005, especially after the Miers debacle.. so the castigating today of Cruz’ comment back then is laughable.

Lest you forget, the Beloved One with the funny hair isn’t exactly a paragon of Constitutional adherence.

EVERYONE was shocked by Roberts as SC justice. Remember all the threads here? His record before the appointment was pristine conservative.

Yeah he was the only one to fall for that I'm sure.

I'm also sure Trump had Roberts pegged because he's been so right on critiquing Scalia with liberal talking points.

All Trump needs to do is tell his followers he knew......they'll believe him.
