Cruz challenges Trump to one-on-one debate [at the Mark Levin show]

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz says if rival Donald Trump won't face the entire GOP field in Thursday's Fox News debate, then he wants to go one-on-one.

"If Donald is afraid of Megyn Kelly, I would like to invite him on your show to participate in a one-on-one debate between me and Donald, mano y mano," Cruz said during an interview on "The Mark Levin Show," adding that Trump could choose the moderator.

"And the fact that Donald is now afraid to appear on the debate stage, that he doesn't want his record questioned, I think that reflects a lack of respect for the men and women of Iowa, that he's unwilling to go to Des Moines and be questioned."

Cruz also argued that Trump dropping out of the debate shows that the front-runner isn't qualified to be president.

"This is a job interview, you need to be willing to answer the questions of the American people, and if Donald is afraid to defend his record, that speaks volumes," he said.

"And if he thinks Megyn Kelly is so scary, what exactly does he think he'd do with Vladimir Putin? I promise you Putin is a lot scarier than Megyn Kelly."

Cruz added that Trump needs to explain to voters "how he is prepared to be commander-in-chief if he's terrified of a television host."

The comments came shortly after the Trump campaign announced Tuesday that he would not participate in the Fox News debate on Thursday.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Trump referred to Kelly as "lightweight" and said that she's "not a reporter."

Trump doesn’t have the stones to face Megyn Kelly. He sure isn’t going to go up against Cruz. What a wuss.

Cruz is no Constitutional genius. Just because he won some cases in the Supreme court he’s supposed to be so bright? He lost almost as many. If he were a pitcher for the White Sox, he’s have been traded a long time ago.5-4 isn’t genius status for me. Nor would he have made quarterback in the NFL or the AFL either. 5-4 just doesn’t cut it.

They know it is, it is just Ted trying to get attention by inserting himself in Trump’s bidness. Ted didn’t ask Rand Paul to debate because he skipped the last debate.

Wonder why?

“Funny, Trump fans considers this an act of desperation on the part of Cruz...”

It is. Cruz has now lost his chance to attack Trump at the debate, because Trump won’t be there. So instead Cruz wants to debate Cruz one on one. Will never happen because Trump isn’t going to give Cruz the stage or the time of day. You never give your opponent a forum from which to pontificate. This is a win win for Trump. No debate forum for Fox, and no personal forum for Cruz.

I like both these men. I hate the fighting. If I were in the lead... and didn’t want to debate/argue/bethetarget...I’d not attend.. my enemy would call me chicken. my allies would call me wise. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder, isn’t it.

It is my understanding it would be illegal according Rep. party rules to have this kind of debate.

So what do you think the Republican Party would do if this is true? Tell them both they are no longer Republican contenders for the Presidency?

But if it were not billed as a debate, but rather scheduled guests on a radio political talk show and they discussed their visions for America, I don't think the Republican Party could do a thing. Nor do I believe they would do any thing even if it were against the Party rules, and it was billed as a debate. Then again, they are the Stupid Party, thanks to the GOP Establishment. So who knows what the idiots would do.

So perhaps it is just bait to try to trap Trump. Wouldn’t put it past the snakes.

here’s a news flash: normal people’s lives don’t revolve around polics, political debates, or anonymous web forums. Most people can’t stand politics and don’t watch the debates on TV.

You know, I’m pretty sure Cruz, and certainly with Levin there to back his play, would really show Trump up when it comes to the political, but Trump holds the big stick with executive skills. The president doesn’t have to be a political science major to put the right people in the right positions.
