Regrouping

JANUARY 22, 2016 ~ CONSISTENTCONSERVATIVES

This is an emergency means for us to keep in touch with our FRiends, who are real Conservatives, in case of purging. Or, if there is no purging, do we really want to continue our discussions in the forum where the owner despises us for not supporting his non-Conservative candidate?

My purpose is to figure out what to do to continue our discussions to advance Conservatism.

Ma'am:

I cannot speak for Cruz or for all Cruz supporters but I can speak for me.

You have served our country in its military forces and achieved the rank of captain. No one gave that to you. You earned it.

You were born female and have nothing to ashamed of on that score any more than I should apologize for being male.

People who descend to the level of calling women "bitch" or "whore" rather than engage in rational argument humiliate themselves and are entitled to no attention except as a preliminary to arranging for them to ride the lightning.

If you and I were acquainted, I feel sure that we would have areas of disagreement. Go, team! That's part of our freedom for which you fought or were willing to fight. And discussing your choice, if you choose to dos so. is also part of our freedom which you stood ready to defend.

If people calling you a "Clintonite" are making a racial presumption, they should be ashamed of themselves. Some lacks have always been Republican. Even more blacks have been social and military conservatives. People like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams understand, as Milton Friedman once observed, that capitalism is a level playing field for everyone and no dollar that ever came into his possession ever asked first if he was a Jew, only whether his competence and diligence had earned that dollar. I look forward to a day when we can clear the GOP-E out of the way and treat each person with respect and convince many who are now Democrats to become, most importantly, conservative and consequently willing to vote Republican.

Thomas Sowell used to be an actual communist party member until he changed his ideology. Most founding editors of National Review who were recruited by ill Buckley were actual communists at some stage of their lives, most of whom defected to conservatism after WW II.

As a Cruz supporter, but more importantly, as an American, I wish you every success and that you choose whatever candidate, in your own judgment would do the best job for our country and its institutions and work as hard as you know how to elect that candidate. If that candidate is Donald Trump, I shall not presume to deride your choice. You are every bit as entitled to make it as I am to choose Cruz and probably a bit more so since you are a veteran and I am not.

If Trump is nominated, I will very likely vote for him, but I would feel a lot better about it if he would explain his specific policy positions much more clearly as he has on immigration, guns, VA policy ad a few others.

In any event, may God bless you and yours abundantly and thanks for being an important part of FR!

Is this the same “brothers4thID” on the Consistent blog that begins by saying, “do we really want to continue our discussions in the forum where the owner despises us for not supporting his non-Conservative candidate?”

Jim, it seems to me that regardless of who wants to point fingers at who 'started' this division within FR into two camps, Cruz and Trump, that we need to keep in mind what YOU said yourself, and you were right when you said them, and those words are still right today:

Regarding Trump:

"Build a wall, enforce the law, deport them all. End anchor babies. End sanctuary cities. Slap a moratorium on Muslim invasion, er, immigration. Investigate the mosques. Secure the borders, secure the nation.

Cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the government. Strengthen the economy, bring back the jobs.

Rebuild the military.

Buck the media, buck the GOPe.

Sounds pretty conservative to me."

Then there was this:

"No president (other than Obama) is going to be able to do anything without the support of the congress.

And even before that he has to win the primary. Then the general election. I like Cruz (a lot), but he'd best get cooking. Trump's eating his lunch in 49 states.

Meanwhile, if Cruz doesn't make it, I'm happy Trump is there to deny the nomination to amnesty pimping GOPe RINOs Rubio or Bush.

At least Trump is a successful capitalist. And I do believe he loves America."

Now as I've said many times, I was supporting Ted Cruz long before Trump entered the race, however there is absolutely no denying that Trump has run a superior campaign. Unless there is some sort of totally unforeseen calamity between now and next Monday February 1st, Trump is highly likely to win the Iowa caucuses, following up with a win in New Hampshire and in all probability a win in South Carolina. That is going to be quite the Trifecta for Ted Cruz to overcome.

In contrast to the campaign Trump is running, the Cruz campaign seems to be continually caught flat footed with these controversies that have popped up one after another, it doesn't matter who brought them up, what matters is how the Cruz campaign has dealt with it, and the kindest thing I can say is that whoever is running their 'crisis response center', their performance has been "less than optimal". The latest (and worst IMHO) episode is this whole Glenn Beck endorsement, and Ted Cruz is an internet-savvy guy, didn't he do some basic Google research and consider the fact that Beck is considered to be a crazed moon bat by more than a handful of people? The guy is a fruitcake, and he is NOT the Glenn Beck of many years ago who actually had some good attributes about him. Like the saying goes, "lie with dogs, wake up with fleas" and sadly I predict Ted Cruz is going to be itching severely.

In contrast, Donald Trump has been endorsed by Sarah Palin, and the venom which was unleashed by many FReepers who used to admire her is nothing less than shocking. I've seen more than a few FReepers imply or actually state that she was bought like a cheap whore by Donald Trump, who needs the Huffington Post, or the DU, or Salon when our own FReeper neighbors are providing ammo for the 'RATs?

But on the subject of this so-called 'Regrouping' blog that a few FReepers have showed up on, this is nothing but a re-run of the infamous "Wide Awakes" set up by the not-so-dearly departed MadIvan, following the (cue Klingon inflection) *GLORIOUS* FR Bug Zapper Zot War of 2007. [graphic included for nostalgia]

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

9 years ago, we saw the same sort of disgruntled posters who for whatever reasons they chose to embrace, fled FR for the proverbial 'greener pastures', predicting all sorts of dire consequences for FR without their exquisite 'input'.

Well here is FR, still going stronger than ever. No one FReeper is bigger than FR (except for you Jim, because you ARE "FR").

I predicted a while ago that we could be heading for another Zot War should it become clear that Trump is headed for the nomination and the many Cruz supporters would be unable to accept that. That would be regretable, however Thomas Jefferson could have been talking about FR when he talked about "refreshing the Tree of Liberty".

Pardon the small novel here, but just wanted to make these few observations.

I prefer Cruz.

I can vote for Trump.

I support both Trump and Cruz. I actually was thinking this afternoon and felt they were both decent honorable men.

I don't know about my good FRiend Norm Lenhart but I somewhat doubt it since he has never been afraid to voice his opinions which are usually my own.

I won't speak for Edmund Wright. He is usually MORE THAN capable of speaking fr himself and he and I are sometimes in disagreement, usually mutually resctful disagreement.

I can speak for me and I will not be expecting to join that upstart wannabe website. I have too much to do here.

People disagreeing with you are not at all necessarily "hating" you. We have enough snowflakes in colleges and in society generally. We don't need a new wannabe website for conservative snowflakes.

Looks to me like people just want some breathing room without loosing contact with like minds regarding their candidate. ...and perhaps vent off some steam they obviously don’t feel they can do here. I don’t see them as traitors to FR regardless of what they are saying. People will say alot of things when they think they’ve been backed in a corner.

I hope Jim doesn’t write them off for it looks like some have been here for a long time. I think they’ll be back once things calm again.

Meanwhile, like you I cannot bring myself to consider Trump if Cruz doesn’t get the Primary...not one state has voted voted yet and polls are just that.....so there’s a way to go in this Primary and there are still other candidates running besides Cruz and Trump, we’ve seen things change in past elections so I won’t commit to a second choice at this point.

The people over there at “Consistent whatever”, several of whose handles I recognize from FR, are saying some really nasty things about JR. It’s an outrage to see such a patriot disrespected and worse, getting personal in their attacks on Jim. Way beyond the pale. Sickos.

Why would you go there with no knowledge? They called her that because she posted it in the past.

Yo Jim.

I see it’s “Crazy Primary” time again on FR.

Still here, still a Cruz supporter who will vote for Trump if Cruz can’t pull it out, and I will be staying at FR.

It is, and will remain, my Home Page on my browser.

Your approach (to point out a new, opposing site, so that anyone who wants to go there and check it out/join), as always is the best one.

After all, there can never be too many Conservative sites on the InnerWebs, right?

May the Lord guide us all as we try to sort out the truth, and the right person to vote for, in these trying times.

I will pray for those who have left/will leave, and for those who are staying at FR.

You are ON this other cesspool of a site created to run down one of the greatest men in American internet history, you are saying ugly things there about FR and Jim, you stumbled across FR years after JR created it-—and now you SPEAK for Jim?

We used to be able to disagree and get along anyway. Is this no longer possible?

It's possible with a lot of us...Likely most of us...Mark those who are causing trouble...Their numbers are not large, it's only their mouths that are...

We go through this craziness every four years, and I've learned to keep my head down until tempers cool. I'm not going anywhere.

Yep. This is Year 18 for me and this sort of thing doesn't really bother me anymore. The nation will abide. And people who want to be here will be here even if their candidate doesn't come out on top.

I stuck around, for example, after my man Dennis Kucinich and his little furry woodland creatures didn't make the cut in '04. Got stinkin' drunk with Grandfather Twilight and brushed the whole thing off. They laughed at me then for thinking that a bunny, a weasel, and a magpie couldn't form a cabinet, but I got the last laugh when the current clown car full of Communist relics, amoral bribe-takers, mental cases and sexual degenerates came rolling in in '08. Maybe Kucinich peaked too soon.

And I am sadly reconciled to the fact that my man Yeb!'s vision of cruising to the White House in his limousine turned out to be the fantasy of a guy on an adult tricycle with one of those yellow pennants stuck to the side and his minders hoping that he gets to the Facility without killing himself. Dream on, Yebbie! Dream big!

And so the coming ten months of passion, outrage, and the placing of mortal human beings on stratospheric pedestals of unvarying moral rectitude. Political office is, actually, a blot on human dignity but that doesn't appear to deter anyone from seeking it. I don't want to be "led", I do want to be represented, but I'll be happy if I can weather the whole thing without having to shoot anybody.

Fair enough. Mitt was a liberal.

But based on his own statements and actions, Trump has to be seen as at least equally liberal. Wealth taxes, single-payer health care, being “very pro-choice” and supporting Schumer, Clinton, DiBlasio, etc. That’s all pretty far-left stuff.

And Trump doesn’t have the excuse that he had to say that stuff and do those things to get elected. He wasn’t running for anything - he just volunteered all those positions.

Hank
