This is a bad story I had not seen mentioned here.
Here's a clickable link to that 'other' source:
Feds raid alleged pill mill, link several deaths to psychiatrist
My impression is these weren’t really psychiatric patients, but customers of his pill mill who were probably abusing the drugs, in particular opiates.
“Heâs a psychiatrist in Jonesboro who has been overprescribing opiates and benzodiazepine and the last several years has had a multitude of overdoses and overdose deaths,”

That is what he had been prescribing.
The question to ask however is what profile of patient was he seeing. Was he treating oldsters in hospice where the primary concern was comfort and we would expect a high death rate? It isn’t fair to compare that with a clientele of younger addicts looking to feed their habits. Just saying. We don’t want either unethical pill pushers OR overweening state governments.
We need shrink control.
The opiates would be way outside of his field of specialty. Benzodiazepine's however would not. In some anxiety cases other medications like antidepressants can not be used and Benzo's are a correct and likely safer alternative for such patients. As a matter of fact Benzo's are the counteracting drug to stop an adverse chemical reaction antidepressants can cause called Serotonin Syndrome. This seems to show up more in patients where anxiety is triggered by a neurological issue such as sensory processing like Inner Ear Danmage and not a traumatic experience or lack of receptor uptake. Low but consistent dosages of meds like Xanax is an alternative for such patients. 22 years and I haven't OD'd or grown fangs.
Are you sure that this isn’t Cheech Marin?
Apparently, none:)
You guys kill me. I was thinking the same thing and figured I’d let it pass. And then I saw your posts.
He does look like Cheech Marin.
It does look like Cheech! But he’s not puffing on a joint so it can’t be him.
“He does look like Cheech Marin.”
Yeah, but this guy has put on some weight. Maybe too many tacos. The funny thing about Cheech is that he’s Lebanese, not Hispanic, although he’s always played Hispanic roles.
He’s Not Hispanic. LOL.
Maybe his patients wanted to kill themselves and the Dr gave them a means to accomplish it.
That is a lot of deaths due to drug abuse
I meant the docs not Hispanic.
Anglicizes to Dr. Necroready.
Wow, so many years of schooling and he threw it all away to be the equivalent of a dope pusher in the projects.
Dave’s not here, man.
