Why don't black and white Americans live together?
BBC News ^ | January 8, 2016 | Rajini Vaidyanathan

Legal segregation in the US may have ended more than 50 years ago. But in many parts of the country, Americans of different races aren't neighbours - they don't go to the same schools, they don't shop at the same stores, and they don't always have access to the same services.

In 2016 the issue of race will remain high on the agenda in the United States. The police killings of unarmed black men and women over the past few years reignited a debate over race relations in America, and the reverberations will be felt in the upcoming presidential election and beyond.

Ferguson, Baltimore and Chicago are three cities synonymous with racial tensions - but all three have another common denominator. They, like many other American cities, are still very segregated.

Why do most blacks discriminate against whites when choosing a mate?

I dunno, I’ve had black neighbors, I’ve had black roomies. We got along just fine. At the moment I live in just about the whitest area of the country. Not sure it really means anything at all.

FWIW, there is a black family in our working class neighbourhood who told me that they relocated here for precisely that reason. Their younger kids are well behaved. Their first kid was told he wasn’t welcome to come home after some petty criminal behaviour violated our neighborhood a few years ago.

Hubby and I worked very hard to give our kids a great upbringing. The best school district, and a nice home in the best and safest neighborhood we could afford.

If people of other ethnicities made different choices, based on different priorities, that would explain why we don’t live near them.

They do where I live. Perhaps people should only write about things they know about.

Exactamundo. On my block of suburbia in Northeast Florida we have 3 biracial families and a black family from Jamaica. That’s just off the top of my head. It’s the liberals that segregate now. Most everybody else is too busy with their lives to worry about this race baiting crap.

Britain is far more segregated than the US. There are parts of London (!) without an Englishman left in them.

The Indian scumball of this article - born, raised, educated and employed in England - calls India “home” and says she “belongs” there, “a place where everyone had the same skin tone and cultural mannerisms.”

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-radio-and-tv-15520933

Now she’s trying to scold American whites to living amongst blacks.

When we moved to a very mixed neighborhood, I was thrilled my little son would go to kindergarten with the colors in a Benneton ad. And for three years everything was great with the kids, they saw no races, it was a great start to life for all of them. The school’s demographics were 1/4 black, 1/4 Asian, 1/4 white, 1/4 Hispanic.

After grade 2, everything segregated on its own. The kids knew or felt they had more in common with people who ate the same foods, parents did similar things, similar language or expressions. It wasn’t skin color, it was culture they felt more familiar with.

What about that "Caste System" thing?

In my small southern town, blacks and whites are roughly 50/50, we work at the same places, shop at the same places, and generally get along fine, even though there are cultural distinctions and neighborhood segregation to a degree. But there is respect, politeness, and generally good comportment, regardless of race. Unfortunately, the progressive policies that have totally screwed urban areas are here to some extent, and working their insidious magic, especially as the economy slows ...

There aren’t gangs in any great numbers here, yet. There isn’t a lucrative drug trade, yet. The full on “baby momma/baby daddy/thug culture” public-policy-driven decay is here in smaller proportions than in the Democrat run cities the author mentions, but if the unionized, Obamaized, re-distributive federal government continues to work its magic, I am sure they can make it worse ...

Blacks seem to like living in black ghettos in the
South. In towns & cities, where it becomes a high
crime area. - We live in the country; have had a few
black families move out here over time, but they don’t
stay. Not that they’re harassed or bothered. I reckon
they just move back into towns into the ghettos. -
Depressing to us; but we’ve lived out here going on
30 yrs. We are not big socializers, live on the river.

Don’t know about anyone else but I live where I live because the people in my area are close to my age and income level and share similarities - including how we decorate our homes, what our yards look like, where we shop, what we eat, how we dress, how we talk and the past experiences which are all somewhat similar. There are a few Black families on nearby streets but they are all clustered together and their children only play with other Black children.

Some of my friends are Italian, some Hungarian, some Polish, etc. but all are white and everyone is married to someone who is white. Not going to change with my generation.

Weird. I live in a gated community with 77 families and we do have a few black neighbors. In fact, I have a black neighbor about 8 houses down from me and another around the circle about 20 houses away. Such a crappy BS story.

Birds of a feather flock together.

You’re right. It ain’t any more complicated than that. Problems arise when government, mostly through public schools, tries to force diversity upon We the People.

Very true and whites are way more likely to be on welfare then blacks. But black leaders like to brag that more black Americans are on welfare to further their agenda.
