Donald Trump says Ted Cruz should leave the presidential race

WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.

Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"

Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.

Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.

The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

Trump will win the election, precisely because he will fight like a Democrat. Every dirty trick, every clean trick will be used. Bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks. Low blows, grinding his boot down on a throat, curb stomping. He’ll bring a mini-gun to a knife fight. Take no prisoners (except for the Clintons).
I like Cruz on most of the issues, but I think I would really enjoy a Trump campaign. I would love to see these Socialist Commies get what they have coming. The country will get an education real fast. All the secrets, the dirty little lies,Trump will expose all, with a twinkle in his eyes.

I’m not sure that Cruz’s beating Trump in Iowa would qualify as an injury that court could remedy.

That is what happens in primary elections. One candidate wins, another loses.

The Constitution does not require a person be an NBC to run for a particular party’s nomination.

It requires a person be an NBC in order to be eligible for president.

At this time, this is not a race for the presidency. I don’t see any law that prevents a party from nominating a person who actually isn’t eligible to run.

Maybe I’m wrong on that, but I don’t know.

I really do not think that Trump can establish standing at this time, but I am also certain that he does not want to or intend to.

Trump's only play is to try to get him disqualified.

And the GOP Establishment's only play, too.

Remember, Donald previously attacked Ted for not “working with’ other Senators to make deals — IOW, for not playing go along, get along politics like the Establishment wants. The GOPe has attacked him on the exact same grounds.

This is the second convergence between Trump and the GOPe to hurt Cruz. Hmmm....

Grayson does not now, nor will he ever have standing to bring this suit.

Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida, an attorney and Democratic Senate candidate, tells U.S. News he will file a lawsuit challenging Cruz’s eligibility should he overtake Trump and win the nomination — a scenario that’s at least plausible with the senator besting Trump in some Iowa polls.

Mr. Trump may now well be right, as usual.

I have regarded Mr. Cruz as one of the lessors of evil.
But now he appears to be handling his own personal problems much as the opposition would do.

We’ll see.

That's complete garbage. Every Citizen has standing as we are all affected by the Usurpation of the presidency. That 'standing' BS is a way for the treasonous cowards on the U.S. Supreme Court to hide from the issue. Clarence Thomas has said as much.

"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"

That is an accurate statement.

Why do you deny that reality?

Teddy Boy should have clarified this issue BEFORE he announced...unless he was hiding something.

Also, why did he wait until just before he announced to renounce his Canadian citizenship? He should have done that BEFORE he ran for SENATE.

This is a street fight and that is what Trump is, playing by his rules. I don’t care how he does it I want him to win.

Trump is J.R. Ewing, Asa Buchanan and Max Hershel all rolled into one. America loves a good villain and Trump is the bad boy we all like.

Did it ever occur to you that Trump is not a conservative and will not act like one if he is elected? Then what will you have won?

Trump is beginning to piss me off with this. Not sure I will support him as the party nominee.

Something happening here. Looks like some minds are changing. Or at least opening.

Trump reeks of desperation.

Really?

Heading into the early primary contests, Donald Trump continues to hold a double digit lead over the rest of the Republican field nationally. Thirty-six percent of Republican primary voters support Trump, 17 points ahead of his closest rival, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (19 percent). Florida Senator Marco Rubio has now climbed to third place at 12 percent. Ben Carson -- who briefly surged to the top of the field at the end of October -- is tied with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 6 percent.

Trump voters are firmer in their support for their candidate than are Republican primary voters who are voting for someone else. While 52 percent of Trump voters say their mind is made up, this is true of just 24 percent of Republican primary voters who support another candidate.
