Donald Trump says Ted Cruz should leave the presidential race

WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.

Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"

Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.

Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.

The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

This is what worried me about Cruz, years ago. Unlike Obama who lied his way through life and had the paper trail snipped and pasted, Cruz, an honorable man, told the truth about his beginnings.

I thought and mentioned here in FR years ago that Cruz needed to get the Supreme Court’s imprimatur BEFORE he declared his intentions.

I prefer Cruz for president. I can accept Trump. It’s a shame Cruz didn’t square this away 2-3 years ago. The democrat party WILL push the issue if Cruz is the party standard bearer.

Agree! It’s not enough for Ted to simply ignore this; the Dems and media won’t. He needs to formally address this and get it out of the way.

BTW, I will gladly vote for Cruz should the tide change.

Seriously, and I was quite surprised by this, a survey of Iowa caucus goers in the past few days found that 46% believed Cruz was born in the US.

You're right, it was all over the news, but people have other things to do than keep up with millions of facts.

"Trump has no power to disqualify Cruz."

Trump has standing to sue over eligibility. He's the one running against Cruz. Why doesn't he just do it?

Because he doesn’t have to, obviously.

Why should Trump spend his money to resolve Cruz’s problem?

Furthermore, the longer Cruz leaves it out there, the longer it could work against him.

Trump is quickly becoming a big a Jackass as the RINO’s. Maybe Da Donald isn’t what “HE” says he is. Remember the GW Bush cult? Remember what we got stuck with? Cruz isn’t perfect but he has the best proven record of any Republican in the race. Far more Conservative on voting record than the rest. I didn’t trust Trump before and I’m trusting him less and less. He’s doing Jebthro’s work for him by trying to eliminate Cruz as a threat to the RINO Party. That has me concerned.

Asa Buchanan was on the soap “One Life To Live” and his character was actually more interesting than J.R. Ewing.

Max Hershel is the big New York wheeler dealer in a movie called “Just Tell Me What You Want”, he was played by Comedian Alan King and it was a great role. He was ruthless.

This progressive piece of garbage has met a man he can’t intimidate or pay off.

-- Why doesn't Trump go to court to get a declaratory judgement against Cruz as he has urged Cruz to do to himself? --

I can think of many reasons. They both have the impediment of "no court will take it," and esentially, it is up to each candidate to be honest. Cruz certifies he is NBC. The voters decide the question on an individual basis. Everybody is smart enough to figure out what NBC is, it isn't rocket science. See constitution, etc.

The rest of the reasons are political. Mud slinging is a tricky and risky craft, sometimes the mud comes back, sometimes it makes your opponent stronger.

There are not the words, nor the tactics, of a man I would want to be my president.

For a perfect presidential persona, I might suggest Mr. Trump review the words of President Reagan, especially, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” or his speech to the nation after the loss of the Challenger drew.

I like Cruz as well as Trump, but it bothers me that he (Cruz) hasn’t gone into federal court to get the Declaratory Judgment that Trump suggested.

Cruz was obviously if familiar with the process before Trump suggested it. Perhaps the reason he hasn’t is that the court could declare him NOT to be a NBC.

Maybe people should know a little bit more about Trump. Do you think caucus goers knows he was a leftist in good standing until about 3 years ago?

— Do they know that Trump was a Democrat? —

Reply:
— Do they Know Ted Cruz was born in Canada? —

I read a poll indicating that 36% of the Iowa voters were unaware that Cruz was born in Canada. And that after informed that 24% would not vote for him.

I think this is a very valid issue. How come Ted Cruz has been so under the radar on this and 36% !!! of the people didn’t even know he was born in Canada?

— Did you know that he did not renounce his Canadian citizenship until about 18 months ago?. And why did he not renounce it sooner?
Because, he says, ‘he didn’t know he was Canadian’. When I heard that I said aloud: You LIE! What tripe, what a fall from grace. How can he not know, not have talked about it with his team, not attempted to ameliorate the situation unless the tactic was to remain quiet, and when brought up, lie about it?

It doesn’t matter my point is that the issue has to be brought up so that people can make their own informed decisions. Apparently most people where in the dark.

Not sure if matters at this point. Cruz & Trump supporters should be pretty locked in on their candidate by now.

I think back to a memory of when I was growing up on a farm. During harvest time, we were putting grain in the bin. My sister and I were standing on the tires of the gravity box trailer watching the grain drop down to the door of the gravity box. From there it would drop into the auger which would carry it into the bin.

There was a large beetle of some sort running up the slope of the grain to keep from getting sucked out the door. He kept running as fast as he could but whenever he'd get close to the top of the slope, the slope would avalanche down and he'd find himself almost at the brink of getting sucked out again. After watching this for about 10 minutes, my sister looked at me and said "Gad, what sport!" I think that phrase applies quite well to a lot of the whole primary season process.

Just a guess. Trump knows a lot more about Cruz’s lack of eligibility than we do. Facts available to us say Cruz is not eligible. Facts available to Trump and his attorneys make it very clear. Mom’s status, lack of paperwork? Something.
