If Trump is Mentioning Cruz’s Canadian Birth, He Must Know He’s Going to Lose Big in Iowa

Actual Title shortened to fit: If Trump is Mentioning Cruz's Canadian Birth Again Then He Must Know He's Going to Lose Big in Iowa

I am amused that Donald Trump is once again reminding voters that Ted Cruz was born in Canada.

Before speaking at a rally on Monday night in Lowell, Massachusetts, Trump stated, "Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: 'Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?' That'd be a big problem."

Yet it was only four months ago just as the two were to appear together at a rally on Capitol Hill opposing the Iran nuclear deal when Trump told reporters, "I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape."

There are two ways to explain his statement. First, Trump didn't mean a word of it, but wasn't willing to insult Cruz to his face before the rally. Second, it must be remembered that at the time Trump was leading Cruz in Iowa by a 3-1 margin. Last September, Cruz was polling at 9% in Iowa.

Needless to say things have changed. It's been awhile since a poll has come out of Iowa, but I'm Trump's people are doing their own internal polling and he's probably doing very badly. Trump is afraid of being embarrassed by Cruz in Iowa. Why else would he suddenly now give a damn about Cruz being born in Canada when he wasn't 4 months ago?

Now Sam, don’t talk logically, you’ll upset all those lil ol’ Cruz groupies who hate Trump like a Baptist preacher hates sin.

You raise a salient point about Iowa that keeps getting overlooked, which is that the Iowa caucuses are little more than the collective egos of corn growers screaming for attention, and when the King of RINOs (ol' Poppy Bush and his 'Big Mo' yammering) won Iowa in 1980, Ronald Reagan shook up his campaign staff, fired his manager John Sears, brought in Bill Casey, and the Gipper kicked GHWB's preppie ass all the way to the convention.

Those who put all of their hopes and dreams into whatever results come out of Iowa are usually in for a rude awakening.

Going after Cruz makes Trump look nasty. This is the kind of thing Obama and the Clintons do.

What happens if Cruz loses Iowa after putting all his marbles in one state?

You see what he writes about on the TAS site and he/it is always totally out of place. Like on Sesame Street “one of these things just doesn’t belong here, one of these things just isn’t the same”.

The author actually thinks Trump’s mention Cruz’s Canadian birth is all about Iowa. Again, smh.

True, but if Goldstein can serve as an idiot mouthpiece for the packs of Trump-haters, than he is perhaps semi-useful.

“Going after Cruz makes Trump look nasty.”

Why?

This is a political primary.

Does Cruz going Trump make Cruz look nasty?

This is the GOP primaries. In GOP primaries, GOP candidates “go after” one another. Smh

Personally, I think Trump is doing Cruz a favor by getting the issue dealt with NOW rather than later.

The "issue" is already dealt with. There is no question Ted Cruz is eligible to be President.

So it is really funny for the "runaway" poll favorite, who NEVER attacks anyone unless they first attack him, to be reduced to this lame liberal attack on Cruz. Sounds like someone who is scared of Cruz to resort to such pettiness.

Sure. However if the roles were reversed, you would be praising Cruz for his principled stand and scream murder most foul if someone said that he was being 'petty'.

my God....... the Cruzers are unhinged

it is absolutely an issue, obama was supposedly born in Hawaii, Cruz doesn’t even have that going for him.

I wonder if there's a picture montage of Cruz haters here as good as the one you post for Trump haters.

If you find one let me know.

As long as we're going to get multiple colonoscopies every day for a while, I'd like to have something to post to both sides.......

:-)
