I thought it was an excellent interview specially to show that the trends in this country started a long time ago and are now reaching critical mass.
On a national level he never got more popular than Rubio is now.
Buchanan was/is better than 99 percent of the frauds in D.C. Always was. But he doesn’t the energy of Trump.
More important he does not have Trump’s talents. no one does not even Cruz.
The left is trying to hang the racist label on Trump, so, yeah.
Buchanan was a man way ahead of his time. I have no doubt that if Pat was 30 years younger, and ran for president this cycle, he would be among the leaders going into the primaries with a strong chance to win it all.
You chose your screen name well, Babble-on.
Pat was very ill with heart trouble during that campaign.
I headed his campaign here in my county and when he got off “Asphalt One” (his campaign bus), he was ashen and looked terrible. Within weeks of pulling out of the race, he had multiple bypass surgery.
Just sayin’.
Pat Buchanan basically self destructed out of vanity and pretentiousness.
He does resemble Trump in one way. Neither thought they should have to serve the voters in an office below president the first time they were elected.
Donald “Loose Cannon” v. Pat Buchanan?
Buchanan speaks positively of Trump, Trump picks up more sales. It is that simple.>>>> and trump thanked him
Thank you for that information. I always like Pat Buchanan’s foreign policy views, and found his history books to be well-researched and convincing.
“On a national level he never got more popular than Rubio is now.”
I meant, and will now more clearly restate, he was very popular here on Free Republic.
I was a proud member of Buchanan’s Brigade—I still remember his “Ride to the sound of the guns” speach and his last big speech—”The Rejected sone will become the Keystone” Speech. I believe his words were prophetic in many ways — presaging the rise of Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, and even Donald Trump. They knocked him down—calling him a Nazi, and worse—just as they did the Tea Party and now trying this tactic on Trump. But it will not stick! I still have my pitchfork! Lots of garbage needs to be clean out in Washington DC.
Including the MSM.
I especially disliked George Wills’ attack on Buchanan as “the brawling bartender of the American political Bowery,” recalling the “Rum Romanism and Rebellion” mudslinging of a century before.
I totally agree. There are two candidates who I’ve seen leftists target. Trump and Cruz to a lesser extent. Trump has the crown. He’s scaring the bejeezus out of them. Its going to be delight to see him win.
I hope not.
Pat Buchanan never supported government run single payer universal health care.
