De Blasio administration doesn't think Cuomo has legal power to force homeless off the streets...

Cuomo’s homelessness order deepened the chill between him and Mayor de Blasio Sunday, with the mayor’s office charging Cuomo lacks the power to impose the mandate.

"We support the intent of the Executive Order, but to forcibly remove all homeless individuals in freezing weather, as the Governor has ordered, will require him to pass state law," de Blasio spokeswoman Karen Hinton said as Cuomo inked the order requiring people to go to shelters when temperatures are below 32 degrees.

"This Executive Order adds no legal or financial resources to New York City's programs to assist the homeless, and merely requires all New York State localities follow many of the same requirements as New York City to shelter families and individuals in need in freezing temperatures."

Cuomo’s office says he already has the authority under the state’s mental hygiene law.

will require him to pass state law

passing laws?

What is that?

We live in the day-and-age when every state has a tin-pot dictator with King Tin Pot living in the WH.

Laws?

We dont need no stinking laws.

Funny how Cuomo’s EO lacks legal standing but Bozo’s EO’s are the “Law of the Land”

Absent a legal and mutually agreeable means for remedy, then let them freeze. It’s the humane thing to do so no one’s sensibilities are offended.

De Blasio, the marxist in short-pants, only exists, or has a platform for his ridiculous ideas, because NY City is supported by the crony-capitalist money printing and debt issuance of Wall Street and its billionaires.

When I was a child in the 60’s and early 70’s you seldom saw the homeless as the police would be all over them if they hassled citizens. Then, the ALCU won a series of cases that allowed the homeless to accost citizens at will and live in public buildings. Suddenly, the homeless were everywhere and in-your-face. Liberals were pleased. If Cuomo succeeds in forcing them off the streets in bad weather, what about sanitation reasons or hygiene in good weather? Of course, that would require a conservative administration, but the law or policy would be little different and indistinguishable from how the cities acted before the string of ALCU victories.

Incidentally, most of the homeless are homeless due to alcohol, drugs, or severe mental illness. They should be renamed Hopeless Druggies or Mentally Ill. -Homeless- implies something entirely different; an effect, not a cause.

If he truly meant it, he would issue an order requiring PUBLIC EMPLOYEES to take them into their own homes

Why does De Blasio want poor people to freeze to death?

Ah, good question: Who owns the streets? The bums? The cops? The taxpayer? The politicians?

Bueller? Anyone?

Typical liberal idiot, it’s because of people like De Bozo that we have so many mentally ill on the streets instead of institutions where they would receive care. Yes I know that in the past many institutions amounted to little more than abuse centers, but the answer was to fix the institutions, not dump the people on the streets.

Andy wants to force all the homeless off the streets. His Daddy emptied all the state’s psych centers, and many of them ended up in the prison system.

If De Blasio was smart he’d give the homeless bus tickets to someplace warm that’s infested with a lot of liberals. They’d welcome them there! < /sarc >
