Ryan Defends Spending Bill: 'We Fought For As Much As We Could Get'
NBC News ^ | December 20, 2015 | Carrie Dann

House Speaker Paul Ryan is dismissing conservative criticism of the $1.1 trillion spending bill that Congress passed on Friday, saying that Republican leaders "fought for as much as we could get" in the compromise legislation.

"We advanced our priorities and principles. Not every single one of them, but many of them. And then we're going to pick up next year and pick up where we left off and keep going for more," he told NBC's Chuck Todd in an interview on Meet the Press.

We know Pauly, $1.1T is quite a lot. Good job. Next time, how about “fighting” for my grandkids’ future instead of stuffing your pockets with taxpayer dollars.

As much as I hate the Mulatto Muslim and his Iranian handler——we also dodged a bullet by not voting in Romney and this idiot boy!

The problem we, on the right, have now is systemic. Who do we trust? Who can we trust? We trusted Bush, and he let us down in his 2nd term (almost like he was another person). We trusted Ryan, since he appeared to be a solid conservative acting on our behalf against Obamacare...but he has now also let us down (almost like he was another person).

And now we are faced with either trusting:

Trump who, with his liberal-supporting track record, has supposedly come to his senses and is running as an anti-establishment something or other that is supposedly for a secured US border. But what if he hasn't changed all that much..really?

and/or Cruz, who purports to be a solid conservative (just like Ryan did at first) and who we (or most of us) have chosen to support as the GOP candidate for 2016.

But ....what if? What if there is nobody that we can truly trust any more? That is the question many, if not most, conservatives will be asking themselves this next year. And the end results of that question posed could be even more disastrous for America than the "anybody but Bush" one was for America. I fear that the distrust that has been created among conservatives for the GOP will now ensure another Democrat presidency and control, thus ensuring the continued destruction of America at the hands of these cretins. I pray I am wrong.

But whatever it is in the DC water has infected pretty much everyone we have sent there. If it's not the water, what is it? Something is very, VERY wrong here.

Sickening little bastard and his family money.

Not that I begrudge the money but the pissy my-way-or-I'll-cry-way attitude sticks in the craw.

"Don't make me mad or I'll lock the gate!"

I hope I’m right but I believe Paul Ryan will be a blessing for us in the long run.

He’s only been in office 6 weeks... let’s see how he goes forward from here.

They are not necessarily stupid. They know where their money is coming from and for the most part it isn’t their salaries in Congress. They also know that if they lose their next elections they move straight into lobbying positions and corporate boards and multiples of their congressional salaries. That is why the Tea Party candidates become Republicans as soon as they are elected and take their seats. And the Freedom Caucus is every bit as conservative as their own man Ryan.

You are absolutely right. Paul Ryan had the power to write and pass whatever spending bill he wanted.

He was afraid of the veto.

He lost before he started.

More weak-as-water, Boehneresque excuses. Remind me again, Paul Rino, who controls both houses of Congress again, a co-equal branch of government.

This loser makes me sick.

The Republicans sorta remind me of the “Mouse That Roared” movie, where a country pretended to be at war with the US in hopes it would lose. That’s the first half of the plot.

The last half is where they won by accident and really didn’t know what to do once they won. (or so my memory goes)

The RINO’s go to “war” with the dems in hopes of losing. And the only way the RINO’s would ever get anything from the dems would be by accident. And if they did win they’d just sit there with dumb looks on their faces wanting to give it all back for fear of offending someone.

Reid and Pelosi have a good game going. They are still in charge, if anything goes wrong the GOP will get the blame.

Yeah? Which ones? I doubt he could list 3.

From what I have read, everything the Dems and Obama wanted got fully funded.

So, Mr. Speaker, what exactly did YOU win for the Republicans?

“There seems to be something about having THE MAJORITY that Ryan seems not to grasp.”

You can pass all the budgets you want with “THE MAJORITY”.

But that would be a meaningless exercise in futility since “THE MAJORITY” is insufficient to override a Presidential veto which requires a 2/3 vote in both houses.

Holding a majority in the branch of government that appropriates money, and holding a large majority in the House, which much originate all spending, these spineless bastards won’t hold their ground against anything.

Ryan, you moron!

Pelosi used to physically lock you out of the budget meetings when she was Speaker.

Why couldn’t you return the favor?

Putz.

You nailed it.

Politicans by nature will will try to get away with as much as they can and are always pushing the boundaries of their power until they get some push back , usually in the form of serious political beat down to keep them inter place and establish boundaries.

The Democrats have pushed to the boundaries of acceptable political behavior so far to the dictatorial, anti freedom, anti democracy zones that a very worried and alarmed American electorate has handed Republicans two massive election mandates to put a check on the President and Congressional Democrats and to begin to repeal and roll back the damage the Democrats are doing to the country.

The Democrats steam rollered over the Republicans when they were in power and worked to destroy our bulletin system of checks and balances of power put in place by our Founding Fathers to protect the American people from corrupt, predatory tyrannical politicians.

The only real effective check on the Democrats behavior is the fear that if they lose the majority, they will become the minority and they will then be dealt with by the new majority party in power as they dealt with Republicans when the Republicans were in the minority.

For their sins , the Democrats should have been severely marginalized and punished by the Republicans by the simple method of making the Democrats undergo the same treatment that they inflicted on the Republicans.

This has not happened.

Republicans have embraced the Democrat's who ran wild and rough shod over the country , the American people along with the Republicans while running the country into the ground and treat them like colleagues friends.

The Democrats have faced no sanctions nor have they been punished what so ever for their egregious abuses of power and position.

Even worse, Democrats seem to still wield a level of unwarranted power against the Republicans that is strange and inexplicable.

The Democrats can be 100% percent sure that when they are back in power, they can go back to the abusive, tyrannical bad old ways of behavior that got them kicked out of office in 2010 and 2014 without any risk that the Republicans will make them pay a price for their abuse of power

] Democrats have no fear of sanctions, even sanction as fair and equitable as being treated and dealt with by Republican controlled Senate and House Leader the way the the Democrat leadership abused and marginalized Republicans when Democrats were in power.

Without that fear of what will happen to them when they are out of power , Democrats will become even more destructive, tyrannical, corrupt and will engage in even greater abuses of power one they regain power.

This has the makings of a GEICO commercial:

If you’re a Pubbie, you fold. It’s what you do.

If you’re a Pubbie Speaker, you capitulate. It’s what you do.
