The K-Mart on Guam is a God send.
Oh ,that must be why they stopped calling to sell us insurance on our Stove
Good. They stink. With Home Depot, Amazon, Walmart, no need for Sears anymore.
Haven’t se foot in a Sears in years. Mainly because they tend to be stores in the mall and I hate malls.
Good. When I was in school and wife and l were both working they wouldn’t extend any credit. Avoid them if at all possible since.
Good. they have failed to honor their warranty of a furnace they installed this summer.
K-mart? good too.
When the Kmart stopped selling guns for political reasons back in the day, I decided I wouldn’t darken their door. Never did since.
Are they still around? The one in my town closed.
How much profit is their in pandering to the politically correct? Not much I guess.
Sears? Used to go there all the time for tools, appliances and clothes until they filled their shelves with useless chinese crap with no warranty. Same thing. They closed too as far as I know.
K.
Aww.
Sears used to be good for me to park by the door cuz there’s no business, run in and buy some little old lady clothes for my mom.
Last time I was there I didn’t see a thing I would want her to wear. So there ya go.
sears and jcp kept dinosaur dept store models. didn’t renovate, had massive overhead, and couldn’t convince people to come to them over other places.
thank god fedgov_ass is not forcing us to bail them out because they are not too big to fail.
Sears Credit, the only place that ever fired me. The holidays that year were over. Good riddance to them!
Chinaman tools? Yeah. Right.
Just imagine where Sears could be had they recognized the internet revolution early on.
We have had good luck with Sears washers and dryers, and with their maintenance and insurance coverage. Not sure what we’ll do if they go belly up.
Sears was the AMAZON of its day.
All the neighborhood kids wore Roebucks jeans.
And Christmas wouldn’t have been Christmas without the Sears And Roebuck Catalog to pore over for a month or two.
sears has been in existence for over 100 years. It is a part of American history. It spawned many copycat companies, a few of which are still in existence. Because of its early history and historical innovation, I think of Sears in a category by itself. I have many craftsman tools and I imagine I would buy more if I were in the market for new tools. They may not be bulletproof but the quality seemed reasonable to me for the price paid. When I was growing up, I would notice that almost everyone had sears hand tools in their toolbox. I recall one competitor, Ward’s, not taking my check for a sleeping bag while Sears did. This was before I had any credit cards and maybe even at a time when I had no job at all. I never went back to Ward’s.
One reason why Sears might be on the ropes is because of Obamacare and minimum wage increases.
In California, I have noticed over the years that many Sears stores closed and the real estate sold to become condominiums. I suspect that Sears has been able to hang on because of the selling of its real estate holdings over the years. This may be true of other department store companies as well (Mervyn’s is fresh in mind).
I am going to really miss my local “Sears at Home” store.
Sears went very politically correct with policies during the ‘90s, so it’s no surprise.
Go big on the internet. Sears and K-Mart could open virtual stores where surfers could walk through and buy what they want.
