This is sad, if only for sentimental and historical reasons. They were the pioneers of retailing. They sent out their catalogs and delivered to barely civilized boondocks out in the great plains where people really had few options. By doing that they created the idea of America being one giant marketplace. Just like how the internet spawned industries no one. could have concieved of at the time, Sears is a child of the railroads and telegraph.

CEO Eddie Lampert killed Sears....he’s just riding it out now.

But I must say our local K-Mart is going strong. ...I know one of the mangers and this store is one of the top in the district.
