This is sad, if only for sentimental and historical reasons. They were the pioneers of retailing. They sent out their catalogs and delivered to barely civilized boondocks out in the great plains where people really had few options. By doing that they created the idea of America being one giant marketplace. Just like how the internet spawned industries no one. could have concieved of at the time, Sears is a child of the railroads and telegraph.

I have a lot of "Craftsman" tools bought over the decades.
DieHard Batteries used to be the best.
I suspect that the "Suits" have squandered the franchise.

True. Good point. Sears is a relic and it is sad to see them empty in malls in Northridge and Ventura.

Sears was the Amazon of the day, a hundred years ago, with their huge catalog.
Whoever ran Sears in the early days of the Internet, really missed out on making Sears into what Amazon became.
