Florida Congressman Alan Grayson told radio host Alan Colmes Wednesday that if Ted Cruz is elected president, he “will file that beautiful lawsuit saying that he's unqualified for the job” according to the Constitution.
Cruz was born in Canada to a native-born American mother, making the presidential candidate a dual Canadian-American citizen. It was not until a 2013 Dallas Morning News article that Cruz acknowledged his Canadian citizenry publicly. In 2014, the senator renounced his Canadian citizenship altogether.
Lamenting the “appalling choices” Republicans have to choose among, Grayson told Colmes the Republican race “resolved itself into this weird reality show.”
“It's not ‘The Biggest Loser’ that they're choosing, it's ‘The Biggest Bigot,'” Grayson said challenging Colmes to show him one candidate “who represents the exception here.” “In a sense, I guess, Cruz is not technically that way — because technically he's not even an America,” Grayson added.
“His mother was born here, so I guess like [President Barack] Obama,” Colmes replied adding, “it's interesting to me that the people who had a problem with Obama's birth certificate don't have a problem with Ted Cruz, who literally was born in another country and renounced his Canadian citizenry.”
“The Constitution says natural born Americans,” Grayson said. “So now we're counting Canadians as natural born Americans? How does that work?”
“I'm waiting for the moment that he gets the nomination and then I will file that beautiful lawsuit saying that he's unqualified for the job because he's in eligible,” he continued. “Call me crazy but I think the President of America should be an American.”

This dude has a whole lot of mouth too. Like his whole head is just two big flapping lips.
Alan Grayson gives pond scum a bad name.
Listen, claiming that the Current Occupant is not an American citizen (he gave up that right when applying for college aid as a foreign national Indonesian, and traveling on an Indonesian passport to visit Pakistan when younger) was a non-starter with most of the people who were in a position to protect him, and this assertion about Ted Cruz is an analogous kind of claim.
But Ted Cruz never CLAIMED to be a foreign citizen. The fact that his father did not become an American citizen before Ted’s birth is irrelevant.
His mother was and is an American citizen.
At least Cruz is culturally AMERICAN, whereas Obama is culturally Indonesian moslem.
People will sometimes dare to do more for the devil than they will dare to do for God.
Irony is pretty ironic that way.
The courts have already decided that only the State Secretaries of State can challenge eligibility, and that State Secretaries of State cannot challenge eligibility, so chew on that, Mr. Grayson. It’s NOBODY’s freaking business - according to precedent at this point. The only people who can challenge Cruz, according to legal precedent, is the person who can prove (without a ballot ever taking place) that they would have won the election if Cruz was not on the ballot (that never happened).
IOW, the system has effectively said that NOBODY can challenge. NOBODY can have standing to check the official documentation on a candidate. NOBODY can lawfully vet the POTUS.
And those who said there was something wrong with that picture were called crazy conspiracy-mongers by the threatened media and all the wannabe’s.
Nicely said.
Sad. but oh so true.
“âCall me crazy”
yeah, you’re batsh*t effing crazy..
“”Florida Congressman Alan Grayson””
He isn’t FORMER FL congressman yet? How stupid ARE the people in his district anyway?
This is from a cartoon currently making the email rounds:
“I have to stop saying how stupid can you be? I think people are starting to take it as a challenge.”
Our modern liberals are so dog-in-the-manger. They’ll stand on principle, or pretend to, only when they want to shut you out. And then they tout themselves as the diversity and inclusion people.
What is needed is the Babe in the Manger.
Is Grayson saying Cruz is "in eligible"?
Or ineligible?
If Barack can ride on relatively recent Congressional rules as to what counts, so can Cruz... sauce for goose is sauce for gander. I know we’ve had some objections from within FR about this, but they don’t seem to be super cogent.
Alan Grayson has THE most punchable face in politics today. Seriously, the man’s visage is rage inducing.
When did you stop beating your wife, Mr. Grayson?
Precedent Obama has rendered the natural born citizen requirement moot.
An embarrassment to the state of Florida. He is going through a messy divorce and that may be the reason he is even more irrational. He is an ugly man in body and spirit.
This is the idiot that thought too many marines would cause an island to turn over...
Easy now on the “Bat” reference. I’m a sensitive Bat.
Wasn’t he the guy that was the middle man in some
absurdly intercepted cell phone call ?
Was it between Newt and some other repub?
I can’t remember.
umm, my bat, er bad dude LOL
No,it is not
