Wednesday on Fox News Channelâs âSpecial Report,â French Ambassador to the United States Gerard Araud defend a tweet he had posted in response to Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump immediately following the terror attacks in Paris earlier this month. Araud described Trump as a âvultureâ for a tweet Trump had made earlier in the year following the January attack on Charlie Hebdo.
Araud acknowledged he deleted the tweet, explaining it was immediately as his home country was reeling from the attacks, but doubled down on the sentiment he originally conveyed, which was using a gun to defend themselves in such a situation is something âonly in the movies.â

It is tempting to take schadenfreude to that level, ain’t it?
A lot of Europe’s best came to America.
But that means they also left Europe...

The remainder of Europe’s best died in WW1 and WW2.
He is just self insulated by his acquaintances and the press he reads.
Willfully Ignorant.
...and only on the news do you see people slaughtered in a theater with no one shooting back (because they have no guns).
I guess the ambassador can disarm his security staff then. If the terrorists show up to kill the ambassador he can instruct his security to call the police.
Does the NRA or some other group maintain a database of home self-defense shootings?
courageous ancestor of mine, a young French Huguenot
The Huguenots were French Protestants most of whom eventually came to follow the teachings of John Calvin, and who, due to religious persecution
So She really was not French, just born in france
I think the Ambassador is kin to Petain (sp?), the Vichi colaborating WWII dictator.
I’m guessing the French ambassador missed that whole World War II thingee.
You sure about that Mr. La Zamataz?
;)
I like to remind those foreigners who do not respect the USA that if America was bad...(wait)...their first language would be English.
So it is safe to say that this enlightened ambassador does NOT have a security detail. If so; we can assume that they are ‘armed’ only with phones so they can call the police (people with guns) in the event that the ambassador is ever in any danger.
Monsieur l’Ambassadeur is a typical stupid arrogant French bureaucrat (and for you history buffs the modern centralized bureaucratic state was invented by none other than King Louis XIV).
The irony is that we are discovering that France has a perfectly competent Army and national police, both of whom want to be unleashed against the filthy Muslim hordes in their midst.
It’s not French. It’s Mayan.
Saw that and almost destroyed my TV. I was struck during the night of the Paris attacks by the story of a young man who carried a girl away from the theater. She had been shot and was bleeding out from a wound in the leg, and rather than try to do any first aid at all on her, the young man threw her into a taxi and told it to take her to the hospital. He wasn’t sure if she was alive or dead at the time of the telling. An American would have tried to render aid, and ridden to the hospital in the taxi with the girl. The Frenchman’s attitude was that he was not an expert, after all, and she needed experts. Likewise, the folks at the theater didn’t seem to even think about overpowering three gunmen, even though there were hundreds of people there. They waited for the “experts” to show up. I saw the photograph take inside the theater before the show started, and there were a lot if fit young men in that audience. Shows you what operative conditioning will do to a whole nation.
“Shows you what operative conditioning will do to a whole nation.”
Good point. Helps explain why the Foreign Legion is the best fighting unit in the French military. Their officers are French, however, & schooled at l’Academie St. Cyr, the toughest military college in the world.
Our younger generation in college, meanwhile, are demanding stress-free environments & “safe spaces”.
My safe space is whatever air surrounds me & my firearm.
